YSL Kiss & Blush

When Kiss & Blush from YSL first came out I wasn’t all that interested. I’m not usually one for liquid blushes or lipstick, so I read a few reviews and then forgot about them.
Then one day I was at Sephora waiting for help and I started swatching a few, finding the consistency really interesting, almost velvety. Since I was mainly thinking of using it on the lips and a good nude is always handy to have I picked up shade 12 Moca Garçonne. When I tried it it seemed pretty useless: hard to make it visible on my cheeks and also pretty invisible on the lips. It seemed like I had wasted my money and this time I really forgot about them.

YSL Kiss & Blush 6 12 Swatches

Well, until I received shade 6 Rouge Libertine* from Sephora as a gift. I would have never bought a red myself so I was really pleased to see that picked that shade for me! After a few days admiring it from afar I finally decided to try it and… It was love at first sight. It’s the most gorgeous red shade, and the satin finish on the lips is just dreamy. It has a soft velvet feeling and makes wearing a red lip a breeze: it stays put well and wears off evenly leaving a stain behind. Another bonus point is the applicator, as it comes loaded with the perfect amount for one use and allows for a really precise application.

As if the fact that since then I’ve actually worn a red lip a handful of times wasn’t enough, I’ve been using on the cheeks too! Being red it gives a lovely natural flush and it really does last all day. The best thing is that is really easy to blend: I’ve always hated products like the various lip & cheek tints from Benefit and the likes because I found them impossible to blend, but it’s not the case with this one. I just put a little bit on the back of my hand and use the Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply it to my cheeks as it’s smaller and gives me more control upon the application. I have to be careful not to blend it too far down or close to the nose because it can bring out some redness from underneath my base, but with my RT brush and a bit of concealing afterwards if needed it’s been the perfect everyday natural flush lately.

But what about the poor nude shade? Since falling in love with the red one I’ve started to use this one more on the lips, as it’s really only a smidgen more beige that the colour of my lips and therefore makes the perfect MLBB shade. I still think it’s a bit of a unnecessary thing for me, but since it’s so comfortable and long lasting I’m still making sure I get a good use out of it.

Sembrava che avessi sprecato i miei soldi e quindi me ne dimenticai davvero.
YSL Kiss & Blush 6 12

Amore a prima vista.
