The LUSH lip saviours

Since my recent love for LUSH has begun (you can read my post about a few Christmas products here), it’s been one of my first stops when in need of something. With the winter cold dry lips came along, but my usual tricks (an old toothbrush and Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm) weren’t working, and so I went to LUSH and came home with two little things that I think are totally amazing.

LUSH Labbrividisco Scoprimi Whipstick Mint Julips

Mint Julips Lip Scrub
I know, I could easily do this myself with some sugar and olive oil, but I couldn’t resist the mint and vanilla in it! The mint makes it slightly volumizing, and whilst I don’t really need it it’s always a nice touch. You just need to pick up a little bit with your finger and smooth it over the lips, and then… Eat the few sugary bits left, LOL! It smells and taste amazing, and more importantly it really works: after just one use my lips felt softer and with less dry bits appearing during the day, and after a few days of use there were no dryness in sight. It even made possible for me to start wearing my Nabla Lip Tech Liquid Lipstick (here’s my original review!) properly. A winner!

Whipstick Lip Balm
This chocolate and orange smelling lip balm is absolutely dreamy. It’s able to intensely nourish the lips and honestly, makes me want to eat it! This might be a bonus though, since it takes the place of the evening piece of chocolate… Well, almost! :-P It contains a blend of rich butters, beeswax, honey and cocoa absolute: wheatgerm, olive oil and almond oil soften the lips, honey and oatmilk calm and soothe cracked and sore lips and shea butter and beeswax seal in the moisture. I’m absolutely in love with it, it’s amazing!

I’m yet to be disappointed in my LUSH-exploring experience, and this two products are true heroes! Have you tried them? Please keep your LUSH recommendations coming ;-)

Meeting MrDanielmakeup at #NablaMelissa

On Saturday evening I went to one of the most magical places I know, Melissa Erboristeria, to meet the art director of Nabla Cosmetics, MrDanielmakeup aka Daniele Lorusso.
Can I simply say it’s been amazing?

#nablamelissa mrdanielmakeup nabla melissa erboristeria

He told us a bit about the brand (which just celebrated its first birthday with Daphne n°2, a bright refill version of the well loved H2O one!), a few things about the new collection, Genesis, and in a couple of minutes he did two amazing looks on two models, talking us through details like the warm undertone of the concealer or the shape of the mascara wand. It’s been just like watching him in one of his YouTube videos, just from the first row less than a meter away!

#nablamelissa mrdanielmakeup nabla melissa erboristeria

I don’t have the words to say how amazing that evening has been. Everything, from the amazing location to the joy of seeing Daniel in person has been perfect.
It came just at the right moment too, as I’ve been loving the brand so much recently (here’s my post about my first order, but I’ve got a lot more to tell you about!) and learning a bit more and seeing the people behind it has been great.

#nablamelissa mrdanielmakeup nabla melissa erboristeria

A few words about the makeup I wore for the evening: I used a few eyeshadows from the Nabla Genesis Collection, Grenadine, Narciso, Petra e Mimesis, and I can just confirm my first impression about their eyeshadows. They’re simply amazing!

All that I’ve got left to say is thank you.
Thank you Valeria, and Nabla, for this amazing opportunity.
Thank you Mr. DanielMakeup, as meeting you has been so great!
And thank you Zaira (PuntiLuceBlog) for being my "partner in crime"!
...and don't forget to check Zaira's post too! (link!)

NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Set | Christmas Gift Idea #2

The other day I shared with you my first Christmas gift idea, the Yankee Candle Melt Warmer, and today I’m going to share with you my second gift idea, the amazing NARS Digital World Lip Set.

NARS Digital World

It comes in a stunning and sturdy plastic box, that can be used to store anything, from makeup to jewelry. Is incredibly beautiful, and a gorgeous gift already!

What’s inside is even more gorgeous though: five NARS lip pencils, with a stunning variety of shades and finishes.
There are three Satin Lip Pencils, in the shades Descanso, Torres del Paine and Yu, and two Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in the shades Iberico and Cruella.
There’s something for everyone and for every occasion: a nude, a peach, a bright pink, an orangey red and a gorgeous red.

NARS Digital World Swatches

The formulas are amazing. I adore Nars Lip Pencils, and the Satin and Velvet Matte are my favourites. They last well whilst being comfortable (and I’m quite picky with lip formulas, I truly love only 1/2 of what I try…), and the pencil formula makes application really easy.

I think this is the perfect gift for everyone: the lipstick lover is going to have something new and amazing to play with, but I also think it’s a really good way to get someone into wearing colour on the lips, with such a wide range of shades!

Are you a big lover of NARS Lip Pencils too? Have you bought one of these for yourself or as a gift, or plan to?

Siete come me amanti delle Lip Pencils NARS?

Yankee Candle Astbury Melt Warmer | Christmas Gift Idea #1

Christmas is getting closer everyday, and I have a few gift ideas for you!
This first one I’m going to share with you today is an electric wax warmer from Yankee Candle. I simply adore it, and let’s see why!

Yankee Candle Astbury Melt warmer

First, I find it gorgeous. It’s not a plain design but it’s not too extravagant either, like a lot of other ones I’ve seen. It should pair well with a lot of styles too, from the more classic to a slightly more modern one, making it a good gift even for ones you don’t know too well.

And, well, it works amazingly. I find the wax tarts to be more scented than the candles, and this can easily fill a room with the desired fragrance. I’ve been addicted to the Lemon Lavender smell (so much that I have it in my car too, here is an Instagram picture! Isn’t it so cute?), but the are a lot of gorgeous Christmas ones too.

I also love that it’s electric, and you have no flames around. It might be just me, but I wouldn’t like to realize I fell asleep with a candle burning… And is also suitable to work environments when a flame wouldn’t be safe.

I’ve paid around €30 for mine, and I haven’t gone a day without switching it on even if just for an hour or so. I think it can make a gorgeous gift for everyone!

Are you a candle lover of prefer other ways to diffuse your favourite scents? Would you be happy to receive this as a gift?

Discovering Nabla Cosmetics

Nabla (link!) is a recently born Italian makeup brand that I’d been seeing around the web for a while. One day I stumbled across an offer and decided to make a little order. Here’s my experience!

Nabla Eyeshadow Review Film Noir Daphne Ghost

First things thirst, the order arrived super quickly. It didn’t even took two days to arrive! They deliver in a lot of countries at really reasonable prices, so it should be readily available to everyone.
It’s also a cruelty-free and vegan company: it’s always good to know!

Eyeshadows
The things I was more interested in were the eyeshadows. And I’ve only good things to say about them! Pigmented and buttery soft, they’re really gorgeous and the quality is comparable to my favourite brands, Urban Decay and Too Faced. With 6 or 12 eyeshadow pans you receive the appropriate palette, which is great!
The singe eyeshadow in the pot, Daphne, it’s from the H2O eyeshadows range and it’s an hybrid between a liquid and a powder, being made of pure powder pigments pressed in water, and can be used wet or dry. It’s the most gorgeous burgundy shade and there’s no fallout, which was the main thing I was worried about. You can see it in this instagram picture.

Velvetline Eye Pencil in Golden Haze
This is another amazing product. A gorgeous mat grey with gold micro glitter that goes on easily and lasts all day, even in the waterline (even though I wouldn’t recommend it if you have very sensitive eyes). Being a mat shade with micro glitter in gives so much dimension to the line, and the result has a slightly green hue that I adore.

Nabla Swatches Daphne Atom FossilCity Wolf Dreamer Entropy Tribeca

Film Noir Mascara
This is a nice mascara, but I don’t love it. It leaves the lashes light and fluttery whilst giving volume and length, but the problem for me is always the same: I can’t get an even result. I want a mascara that allows me to put it on in the morning without too much effort, and with this one I just can’t. An everyday case of bad eyelashes, I’d say. I’ve seen rave reviews though, so it might be just me!

Ghost Invisible Lip Barrier
It’s one of those invisible lip liners that work well to define the shape or as a lipstick base. It works really well, I love it!

Liquid Tech Lip Color in Amore e Psiche
It’s a liquid lipstick described as a pale peachy-pink, even if on me is more of a bright peach. It’s really pigmented and long lasting formula with a velvety mat finish, but I find it a bit too difficult to apply and too drying for my taste. They say it contains ingredients to keep lips hydrated, but it literally sucks the life out of them! The effect is really gorgeous though, so I’m going to slather on Nuxe Reve De Miel like there’s no tomorrow and keep trying!

I had a little bit of a mixed experience with this first purchase, but I hope to see more products from them in the future! I even discovered a couple of places that recently started selling their products in my city, so I’m going to have a little swatching session to see what else it’s interesting.
To sum it up: buy the eyeshadows. Really, they’re amazing.

Have you ever heard on this brand? Do you have any less globally known brand to recommend me?

Velvetline Eye Pencil in Golden Haze

Ghost Invisible Lip Barrier

Liquid Tech Lip Color in Amore e Psiche

A Lush Christmas

After many years without buying anything from Lush, a couple of visits to the store and I already feel a dangerous addiction coming.
I tried a few things from them a few years ago, and they left me unimpressed. The main thing, funnily, was that I couldn’t bring the gorgeous scents of the shop home. Well, seeing my current experience I think I simply chose the wrong products!
Let’s see what I bought from their Christmas collection!

Lush Christmas Snow Fairy Celebrate Snow Angel

Snow Angel Bath Melt
This bath melt rich in Cocoa Butter, dissolves with a really fine foam that soon leaves room for a gorgeous golden shimmer. The scent is simply divine, being slightly floral and with a distinct note of almond, and this product makes for a really moisturizing bath! I love that the shimmer is really delicate but you can still find a couple left somewhere on your body (it just makes me smile!), and it’s such a lovely product to use!

Snow Fairy Shower Gel
My visit to Lush was inspired by this post from The Misty Mom, where she talked about this shower gel, mentioning the slightly exfoliating properties of the Lactic Acid in it. Well, she was absolutely right! My arms tend to stay slightly bumpy no matter if I exfoliate or not, but this has really made a difference: they immediately feel so soft, and paired with the body lotion I’m going to talk about next I’ve had amazing results! The scent is really, really sweet, but I strangely enjoy it… I’m using it sparingly and only on my arms because I don’t want to run out too soon!

Celebrate Body Lotion
This is my favourite thing of them all. A really rich body lotion with a uplifting citrusy scent and a splash of cognac? Oh yes! It’s really moisturizing thanks to the Cocoa Butter and Almond Oil, and the Lime Oil, Brazilian Orange Oil and Orange Flower Absolute give it that amazing scent! I just love it, and I’ve been using it a couple of times a week to keep using other less interesting body lotions I have, but I feel a backup of this is needed… It’s just so amazing!

What have you bought from the Lush Christmas collection? Give me your Lush recommendations, I want to feed this new love!

Ho provato qualche prodotto qualche anno fa, rimanendo delusa.

Fate Voi - Gel Doccia
