Lancôme Miracle Cushion Foundation

Something super new and exciting is arriving on Lancôme counters, and it’s the Miracle Cushion Foundation.
Being the foundation obsessed that I am - you should have guessed by now! (link - link - link) - I immediately grabbed it as soon as I saw it, and here I am to share my thoughts.

Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation

The box says “Liquid cushion compact - Fresh dewy hydration - Absolute weightlessness and glow - SPF23 / PA ++”, and I think this description is pretty accurate.
The foundation is hidden in a sponge, and is dispensed by pressing on the surface with the sponge applicator (or a brush, and fingers work as well - it comes out only where you press it so it’s not messy at all!). I like to pat it on in a even layer and then pat again with my fingers, to let it merge with the skin even more.
When it’s firstly applied is kind of wet and really dewy, but once it sets it’s incredibly skin like, probably the most invisible coverage I’ve ever seen. The coverage is something between light and medium, as it won’t conceal spots or a lot of redness or discoloration, but the beautiful way it sits on the skin diffuses imperfections making them less noticeable.
It’s truly weightless as the description says, as it’s just a light veil on the skin. The added SPF might be good but the sheer layer I like to apply isn’t going to do much on that department, but it’s still a nice touch (and a sign of the Korean origin of the cushion compacts).
Well, it sounds perfect, doesn’t it? But as I always do when I try a new foundation, I looked closely every day to find a fault, and well, unfortunately I did. It tends to sit into fine lines, and forget applying two coats, as that’s going to happen for sure. On me it happens between my eyebrows and in the fine lines that appear when I smile, but on more mature skins I fear this is going to be a real problem, considering also that I usually wear primer and powder on a daily basis.

Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation

I think this foundation is amazing, as it looks incredibly natural and is weightless and glowy, and a innovative technology like this is incredibly exciting, but the “sitting into fine lines” issue is going to be a problem for some. I’ve been wearing it all week and got a lot of compliments on my skin - not my makeup - and that is always good!

Are you excited as I am when a new foundation hits the market? Have you tried this new Lancôme one already?

Bene, sembra perfetto, vero?

  2. I saw this kind of foundation in Lisa Eldridge's video - apparantly it is already very common in Korea! Happy to see the trend is coming to Europe because it is intrigueing! Too bad it settles in fine lines. :( It looks very lovely on you!

  3. This reminds me of the Laneige BB Cushion (found at Target), which I LOVE! BB Cushions are so lightweight and refreshing. I'll definitely purchase this one because Lancome is the best!

  4. Great blog! I just wish these cushions offered a more full coverage look as I generally like a matte face. Also, I am wondering if that wet cushion would attract bacteria. If they actually made these in my color and I tried them that would be a cause of concern for me with my acne prone skin!

  10. What a strange looking foundation, not sure how I feel about it even if it does sound amazing. Getting compliments in your skin is always great! Shame that it sits in fine lines though x

  11. It does look beautiful on you, but I'm afraid it probably wouldn't work for my skin. Though I don't consider myself "mature" just yet...I'm definitely out of that "youthful" category, hehe.

Love your side by side comparisons btw!

  12. I'm glad BB cushions are becoming more mainstream, they might finally make one for my skintone! I think it's a lot like foundation + beauty blender but in more convenient packaging. :)

  17. that's a shame about the way it settles into lines for you but it's such an interesting concept for a product! i'm not sure if you follow lisa eldridge or watch her videos on youtube but she's just posted a few videos about beauty products she bought in korea and she said that cushions are all the rage over there and now she's the creative director at lancome and suddenly they've brought out a sponge! it's so different to anything we have from european brands but hopefully like the cultural crossover with BB creams they get better as more brands launch them and there's more competition to improve the formula.

  18. Thank you so much for your very balanced review.
I have exactly the same problem with this cushion. My fine wrinkles and lines hate this foundation (though it's a cc cushion really, not foundation). I tried with a primer, without, and every time it got into my fine lines and looked very unappealing.
    I much prefer Korean cushions.

  20. I immediately though of her when I saw this :) Can't wait to see more of them! Unfortunately it really does (it's not the only one, but for something so light I'd hoped it wouldn't), but thank you lovely! :) xx

  21. I think they've designed them is some kind of antibacterial way, but probably they still aren't the best for someone acne prone, you're right. The coverage is really not full, but I guess it's because the formula has to be light enough to go through the sponge... Thank you so much lovely! ;) xx

  28. I immediately saw here behind this new product, ahah! Can't wait to see more of them too! ;) Luckily for me is a minor struggle, but I can see it as a true problem for some if it settles into fine lines... :( xx

  29. It's a good and a bad thing that I'm not the same having this problem, ahah! :) Can't wait to see more cushions and maybe true Korean ones too, as I love the concept! :) xx

  35. It's such a shame, I know how bad it is when that happens, you immediately start wanting everything! xx

  36. It's all because of the neutral led lights I've recently bought, they scared me at first because I see everything but they make such a difference during application and makeup looks gorgeous (even if lighter that with natural light)! I know, I go over the areas with my fingers when I notice it but it's such a shame because it really does it even if I apply the lightest layer... xx

  37. No, normally it isn't :s Can you try again and let me know if it works? xx

  38. Wow, your skin looks AHHHMAZING!!! I'm glad cushion foundation has finally made it a worldwide sensation (I believe it originally started in Asia). I have a sample from Laneige I think and I love it. This one is much more accessible though I'll have to see if I run into the "settling into lines" problem, too. :)

  39. oh wow it looks amazing on you , your skins beautiful x

  40. This looks gorgeous in the pictures - a pity about the fine lines issue :/ I am not entirely sure about the "cushion" concept as I would be worried about bacteria collecting on the cushion if you use your fingers to get it. Do you think it would work if you used a beauty blender and pushed that onto the cushion? xx

  41. Hey Gyudy, my God this looks great on you in photos! Not sure about the sitting in fine lines aspect. I actually received a sample of this but I haven't got around to giving it a go yet (been testing out the new Dior one). I'll have to get around to doing that soon! Will keep you posted!

I just bought this last night at Sephora-they were kind enough to dig through the new boxes in the back, make testers and color match me. Today is day one--it feels fantastic although I may need to start using a primer for the first time ever. I'm pregnant so I have to go easy on the skincare at the moment and I'm a little spotty on the chin.

I love the idea of cushion foundations. The beauty industy is definetly going towards the right direction and I am so glad that they are now introducing them in the UK. I believe Lancôme and Kiko are the only two brands that are currently selling them. I'm considering getting this cushion foundation more just for testing purposes. it would be interesting to see how it performs. Great post!
