NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30 Review

The Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30 is the new tinted moisturizer/foundation offering from NARS, and just like any NARS base, it's already proving to be a huge hit.

Here's how NARS describes it: "Instant gratification. Effortless application. Protects and perfects with a soft-matte finish. Oil-free. All-day wear.". It contains a "Velvet Illusion Complex" that's meant to transform the skin immediately and over time: the blurring powders guarantee a soft focus effect to diffuse imperfections, and they have a special spherical shape compressed like a cushion for a velvety smooth finish, whilst the formula contains Rose Fruit Extract to minimize the appearance of pores and control shine and Vitamins C and E together with SPF 30 to protect from free-radical damage.

To say it briefly, I LOVE this foundation. Because yes, even though the name skin tint would make you think this is not more than a tinted moisturizer, this is in fact a foundation. Please Nars, we love you, but try to make a foundation that matches the name! From Sheer Glow that isn't glowy nor sheer, I have the feeling you and foundation names don't really agree. But in reality it really doesn't matter, as this Velvet Matte Skin Tint is incredibly amazing.

I love to apply it with my hands, and it's really easy to blend. It's matte, but easy to spread on the skin: do not expect one of those stiff mousse-y formulas, as it just feels like a drier creamy consistency. It's pretty forgiving on drier areas of my face, as it doesn't completely smooth any dry flakes but doesn't cling too badly to them either, which is amazing for a matte formula.

With my hands, which is the only method I've tried because it's my preferred one for foundation application, I get a solid medium coverage: it doesn't completely cover my dark circles, redness or spots, but I'm more than happy with just a bit of under-eye concealer (for matching purposes I've been using my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and loving them together).

Still going for the matchy trend, I've been setting it with the Nars Light Reflecting Setting Powder - which is amazing too -, and this combo lasts all day. Not only that, it looks even better as the day goes by, when a bit of my skin natural oils start to break through the formula, amping up the glow in a really natural way.

The best thing about this is that it's a mat but not flat formula in the slightest: even when freshly powdered looks natural and with a subtle glow, that I like to amplify with the Becca Backlight Priming Filter underneath. That is my current favourite face base combination, and I've barely worn anything else (with the exception of the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation which I need to write a post on as it's awesome!).

The bonus? The tube is huge, as it's 50 ml and not the usual 30 ml foundation size, for about the same price (or even less) of other NARS bases, Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer included. That makes it incredible value for money, as a quick math tells me that the standard 30 ml size would be € 22.8. It's amazing! Even though, given my love for foundation, at the beginning I was almost sad: if I'm unable to finish a normal foundation, how can I get though a huge one?! But I love it so much that I might even use it till the last drop. You're all witnesses! ;)

Vichy Dermablend [3D CORRECTION] & Vichy Ideal Soleil SPF 50 3-IN-1 Tinted Anti-Dark Spots Care | New At The Pharmacy

Spring launches are everywhere, and there’s something new in the French Skincare department too! Vichy, alongside other products, has launched a new foundation, the Dermablend [3D Correction], and a new tinted sunscreen, the Idéal Soleil SPF 50 3-in-1 Tinted Anti-Dark Spots Care. I’ve tried samples of them both, and here’s my thoughts!

Vichy Dermablend [3D Correction] Foundation

The Dermablend line from Vichy is targeted towards skin that needs a lot of coverage: the (newly repackaged) liquid foundation is a beautiful full coverage formula that works amazingly as a concealer too, the cream foundation is easier to sheer out for a medium coverage and the concealers are great too. My favourite item has always been the translucent powder, that is really finally milled and works perfectly for setting those high coverage products in place.

But what about the new formula? This foundation is said to be a “corrective resurfacing active foundation” with 16 hours wear: it’s formulated with oily and acne prone skin in mind, and claims to immediately cover and smooth skin imperfections and reduce them with day by day wear. It contains Salicylic Acid and Eperuline (a soothing anti-redness ingredient), and the texture is an innovative bi-phase oil free formula to make it well tollerated by the skin and allow the product to cover even with a really fine layer.

When I came to try this foundation, I wasn’t expecting to like it. I usually go for medium coverage skin like bases, and something designed to cover acne isn’t usually exactly that. Usually, because this foundation is pretty close! it’s less skin like than I usually like but still looks natural, and not at all mask like. The innovative formula is really, really smoothing: it dries to a beautiful satin finish and makes the skin look poreless. I had the “luck” to try it on a week when my skin had a few hormonal breakouts, and the verdict is good on that aspect too: it glides beautifully over imperfections, and whilst concealer for complete coverage is needed (this foundation sits on the upper side of medium coverage I’d say!) it doesn’t accentuate any dryness or irregularities of the skin. I’m wearing it here!

If your skin is prone to breakouts this foundation is perfect for you: it covers without being mask like, and that’s amazing! If you have more normal skin it still going to look beautiful though: it gives a really perfected look, and the active ingredients in it might help prevent that few blemishes almost everyone tends to get now and then!

Idéal Soleil SPF 50 3-in-1 Tinted Anti-Dark Spots Care

The Ideal Soleil SPF 50 3-in-1 Tinted Anti-Spots Care is a multitasking product in the form of a tinted sunscreen. It’s aimed at people that use a high SPF daily to treat and prevent dark spots, and can be used in conjunction with a day cream or alone.

It contains PhE-Resorcinol, known for its tyrosinase inhibition properties that prevent melanin production. It contains mineral pigments for lightweight coverage, and the sun protection is given by both chemical and physical filters.

It is a really beautiful tinted moisturizer: it simply looks like your skin but better, and if you don’t have many imperfections or redness it’s going to be more than enough. It gives to the skin a beautiful natural finish, not mat but not too glowy either, and it doesn’t tend to slide off during the day. The shade is a light to medium universal shade that isn’t orange: I’ve used it when I was slightly paler than its shade and it worked perfectly fine as it’s so light, and when it was slightly too light for me didn’t give me a ghost face effect. The high SPF is perfect, and the fact that treats dark spots at the same time is a really good bonus. If you want a fuller coverage you can pair it with a light to medium coverage foundation and use it as a primer: your skin is going to look perfect without anything heavy! January Favourites ft. Clinique, Smashbox, Kiehl's and more

February has already started a few days ago, so I'm a little late with my monthly favourites. The reason is that with my once a week schedule I thought monthly favourites wouldn't fit, but now that I'm starting to post more (twice for now!) I really don't want to skip one of my favourites posts to write.

So, what have I been loving this past month?

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

I'd been wanting to try this cleanser for the longest time, but for some reason I never ended up getting it. Then a few weeks ago I read a few posts mentioning it, and I decided the time had come. I'm so glad I did! It performs like an oil or balm cleanser but is in the form of a gel (a bit like the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel), that glides smoothly on the skin removing the last traces of makeup as I like to use it mostly at nighttime. It has a gorgeous smell that I find truly relaxing, and it makes me indulge in a little massage before starting to add water to turn it into a milky consistency and rinsing it off. The star ingredient is Marula Oil, that thanks to its content in fatty acids helps to reinforce the skin barrier and improves its moisture. I'm really enjoying using it every night!

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

This eye cream claims to make you look wide awake and refreshed in 3 seconds, and I have to say that yes, it's kind of awesome! I have been using this mini size for a little bit more than a couple of weeks and I love it. It's great under makeup as it's not too heavy but it's hydrating enough, and the amazing thing is that it really makes you look more awake really quickly: sometimes I tend to wake up with my eye bags a little bit worse than usual, and in those mornings this really makes a difference. I'm definitely thinking about purchasing the full size as soon as I run out!

Kiehl's Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

This, for me, is the only primer I'll ever need. Sure, I like to try new ones, but as a need this is more than enough for me as it's just perfect. It smoothes the skin like nothing else whilst being super light on the skin, and the added skincare benefits are a really nice plus. It contains a Lipo Hydroxid Acid derived from Salicylic Acid that smoothes the skin and fight imperfections, making it more than a simple primer but something able to improve skin over time. Every foundation looks better over it and I haven't had any of the annoying problems you sometimes get with primers like the Benefit Porefessional, that tend to ball up when something rather silicony is applied over the top. I seriously can't be without this!

Sephora Wonderful Cushion Foundation

Cushion Foundations are starting to be more popular, and this new Sephora release is great. It's really skin like and weightless, but still has good coverage and staying power. It's a great everyday base as it's super quick to apply with the enclosed sponge and I've been wearing it a lot. You can read my full review in this post!

Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit

I know I recently reviewed this one too, but I've been loving it too much not to mention it again. It's the perfect contour kit that contains three unbelievably smooth and blendable powders, and I've been wearing it almost everyday for months forgetting about my other contouring products. The contour shade is perfect and never looks patchy, the bronzer is lovely and not too orange and the slightly yellow tint of the mat highlight powder makes it great for adding dimension and setting under-eye concealer too. Dior Diorshow Color and Contour in #557 Twig

I love, love, love this from the Dior Spring Glowing Gardens Collection. It's a dual ended eye product with a cream stick eyeshadow on one side and a twist up pencil on the other. The cream eye shadow side is a super shimmery light beige-taupey shade that gives the lid a gorgeous almost wet look, and the pencil side is a mat brown that gives a really soft look to the line. Some might even say that the cool brown liner isn't pigmented enough, but I love it for that reason. Even if it's a really shimmery look I've been really loving it for a quick daytime eye that still involves eyeshadow, and I love the handy packaging! I've seen something similar from Kiko, I need to have a closer look at that too because their stick eyeshadows are great.

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick in Plum Pop

This was a no brainer just like the Smashbox Contour Kit as I've been wearing it almost everyday all month. First, I love the formula. It's incredibly smoothing and pigmented, and it's really comfortable. It wears off leaving a little bit of a stain behind, but lasts a long time before doing so. The shade is incredible: I think the best way to describe it is as a slightly plummy medium pink, and it's that kind of shade that it's a little bit more than a simple pink without being too bold. You can have an idea of what it looks on me from this Instagram picture.

Sephora Wonderful Cushion Foundation Review

There’s a new storm coming in the makeup world: cushion foundations! Just like it happened with BB creams, that for quite some time were only a few and then they started appearing everywhere, this year cushion foundations are starting to come out more.

Today I want to share with you my thoughts about the new Sephora Wonderful Cushion Foundation: let’s see how it performs and how it compares to other cushion compacts I’ve tried!

This foundation is designed to give the fresh and radiant look of a liquid formula with the practicality of a compact. It claims to give an instantly even, smooth, fresh and naturally radiant result that lasts all day with a moisturizing feel. It provides buildable light to medium coverage without any cakey effect or lines of demarcation. It’s enriched with pure pigments, soft focus agents and gel filler, and contains hyaluronic acid and albizia extract that smooth and moisturize the skin.

That’s a round up of what Sephora says about it. But is it true? I’m trying not to be too excited about it, but… YES! I’m absolutely loving this formula. It’s incredibly light on the skin, and it’s truly moisturizing. It’s really long lasting too though for such a light formula, and at the end of the day the foundation is still in place and I’m not walking around with a red shiny nose (I know, such a great look to go for, LOL!). The coverage is light but can be easily built to medium: I’ve been wearing a first light layer (literally a single press on the cushion with the enclosed sponge then dabbing it all over the skin), followed by concealer under my eyes, on my nose and on a red patch I have on my left cheek, and then another really light layer that I then set with powder. The result is incredibly smooth and comfortable, and the coverage is beautifully natural.

How does it compare with the other two cushion formulas I’ve tried? The Miracle Cushion Foundation from Lancôme (here’s my review), is a touch more radiant looking but it’s lighter in texture and coverage. It’s incredibly beautiful too, but the Sephora one has the same benefits with more solid coverage. The Kiko CC Cream Cushion (reviewed here) is a little bit more foundation like and a little bit more heavy on the skin, although very similar. I have to say the Sephora one wins, but they’re all three beautiful formulas.

I haven’t been to keen on Sephora bases in the past, but this one’s a winner for sure. So, what’s next? I spot a YSL Le Cushion Encre De Peau Foundation and a Mac Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact coming…

A few words on the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream you see a mini size of near the foundation: it seems great! Light and rapidly absorbed, it instantly awakens the eye area and seem to be effective on undereye bags. Will report back once I’ve used it a little bit more!

January Makeup Wishlist

Wishlists are something I don’t usually write about. I often go on about how much I’d like to buy something when I comment on other blogs though, and mentally the list gets bigger every day. At the moment there are a few things that look really worth getting, so let’s see what’s really high on my wishlist at the moment!

1. Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation

Chanel. Blame the chic packaging, blame the cult products, or blame my expensive makeup taste, Chanel aways lures me in. I love the concept of their Les Beiges line, and the product that started it, the powder, is one of my favourite formulas (if only I could find a shade to use all year round as a setting powder!). This foundation sounds right up my street: skin like and luminous, comes with a pump (I was so worried when I saw the first images!) and I’ve already heard pretty good things about it. Not that I really need another foundation at the moment, but this one sounds too good to wait too long to try it.

2. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer

The Mufe HD foundation has always been one of my favourites, and I’m loving the new version even more, as it’s truly invisible on the skin but has amazing coverage. I’m really intrigued by the new matching concealer, as it’s meant to cover really well whilst still being undetectable. I’ve already started hearing good things on this one too, and since my hunt for the perfect concealer hasn’t come to an end yet I really want to see if this is “the one”!

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette

Anastasia is a brand that still makes me feel the thrill of owning and using something cult and hard to get, even if I’ve used more than one of its eyebrow pencils ordering them easily from Cult Beauty in the last year or so. This palette looks incredible, as it has a huge variety of shades and I’ve heard great things about the formula too. I just hope I can still find it because it’s currently sold out and listed as limited edition.

4. Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

I know, I know, another eyeshadow palette? Well, blame the incredible reviews I’ve read in the past weeks, I simply cannot get it out of my head! Full of neutrals but far from boring with the addition of a few fun shades, I know I can’t go wrong with a bit more Urban Decay eyeshadows in my stash.

5. Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette

The first pictures and swatches of this have only been around for a few days, but I’m already in love. It looks like a gorgeous mix of blushes, bronzer and highlighter and the perfect opportunity to try the UD blush formula. Urban Decay has done so well with this whole Gwen Stefani thing, and I can’t help but being attracted by the gorgeous packaging and the great quality of the brand.

MAC Face and Body Foundation | Rediscovering an old favourite

MAC Face and Body Foundation is one of those products I fall back in love with from time to time. Considered a must have by makeup artists and being the favourite foundation of quite a lot of people, it’s quite a cult product that I’ve been using and loving for quite some time now and it’s a staple in my stash.

Described by MAC as “a fluid foundation that provides low-to-medium build able coverage and a flawless, natural satin-shine finish. Skin conditioning, water-resistant and long-wearing”, is available in a handy 50 ml bottle and a bigger 120 ml bottle that is perfect for makeup artists or as a great price per ml option if you’re sure you love it.

I totally agree with what MAC says about it. The coverage can be sheer if applied lightly with fingers or a brush but can be easily built up to medium when layered or buffed in with a brush a little more. The finish goes from satin to glowy depending on how much I layer it: a sheer layer gives a lovely satin finish that becomes really skin like when powdered, whether a couple of layers stay pretty glowy even with powder on top.

It’s truly long wearing as promised and I can imagine being the same on the body, but I’ve not tried it yet! Will definitely do if I decide to buy my summer shade again.

The reason I’ve fallen back in love with it all over again recently is how forgiving is on the skin: my skin has been drier than ever lately (it feels fine when I moisturize it but as soon as I start applying makeup flakes appear and it gets even worse during the day, especially on my nose) and whilst I’m working on it (I’d assume hydrating serum, oil and rich moisturizer would be enough but they aren’t) I need something that doesn’t accentuate dry patches.

Another thing that has allowed me to use it more is the Make Up For Ever Concealer Palette I reviewed in my last post (link!): color correcting everything before and adding a sheer layer of concealer on top when needed as made me want to use a sheerer base, and Face and Body is perfect.

The shade that matches my skin tone perfectly is C1, but in the summer C2 is perfect: the first time I bought it was after the summer holidays a couple of years ago and I remember it working amazingly on tanned skin. I also remember comparing it to the famous Chanel Vitalumière Aqua at the time and thinking it was a lot better, and I still think it is. And since for the price of that tiny Chanel bottle I can buy the huge MAC one, I’d chose this anytime.

MAC Face and Body Foundation è uno di quei prodotti che di tanto in tanto tornano in cima alla lista dei prodotti preferiti. Considerato un must have dai makeup artist ed essendo il fondotinta preferito di molti, è un prodotto cult che io uso da molto tempo e ormai non posso più farne a meno.

Descritto da MAC come “un fondotinta fluido che consente una copertura flessibile da leggera a media, e una lucentezza naturale e dalla finitura impeccabile”, è disponibile in un comodo formato da 50 ml e in una più grande confezione da 120 ml perfetto per i makeup artist o come un’ottima opzione convenienza se siete sicuri che vi piace.

Sono totalmente d’accordo con quello che dice MAC a proposito di questo fondotinta. La coprenza può essere trasparente se applicato leggermente con le mani o un pennello, ma può essere facilmente aumentata se stratificato o lavorato con il pennello. Il finish va da satinato a luminoso a seconda di quanto lo stratifico: uno strato leggero dona un effetto satin che risulta molto simile alla pelle con un leggero strato di cipria, mentre un paio di strati rimangono piuttosto luminosi anche con la cipria.

È davvero a lunga durata come promesso e posso immaginare che sia lo stesso sul corpo, anche se non l’ho ancora provato. Lo farò sicuramente se deciderò di riacquistare la mia tonalità estiva!

La ragione per cui me ne sono innamorata di nuovo di recente è quanto sia indulgente sulla pelle: la mia è stat più secca che mai ultimamente (sembra a posto quando metto la crema ma appena comincio ad applicare il makeup si screpola e peggiora ulteriormente nel corso della giornata, specialmente sul naso) e mentre cerco di sistemare il problema (un siero idratante, un olio e una ricca crema dovrebbero essere abbastanza, ma a quanto pare no) ho bisogno di qualcosa che non evidenzi le aree più secche.

Un’altra cosa che mi ha permesso di usarlo di più è la palette di correttori Make Up For Ever che ho recensito nel mio ultimo post (link!): correggere le discromie prima e aggiungere coprenza dopo se necessario mi ha fatto venir voglia di usare una base più trasparente, e Face and Body è perfetto.

La tonalità che si adatta perfettamente alla mia pelle è C1, ma in estate C2 è perfetta: la prima volta che l’ho comprato era dopo le vacanze estive e ricordo che funzionava meravigliosamente sulla pelle abbronzata. Mi ricordo anche di averlo paragonato al famoso Chanel Vitalumière Aqua considerandolo decisamente migliore, e continuo a pensare che lo sia. E visto che per il prezzo della piccola bottiglietta Chanel posso comprare l’enorme 120 ml MAC, lo sceglierei in ogni momento.

February Favourites ft. NARS, Formula X and more

February is over, and it’s been fast. Two or three days less make such a difference, don’t they? Anyway, today I’m here to tell you all about the beauty products I’ve been loving in the last month, so let’s get started!

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

This monthly favourites are going to be affected by the heavy cold that caught me in the last week - sorry, but with a runny nose and mountains of paper tissues everywhere I couldn’t avoid this. The good thing though is that it gives me the chance to talk about this little miracle worker that I always forget about but always ends up saving my skin: the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. I’ve always loved the original Cicaplast (do you remember when everyone went crazy for it as a primer when Lisa Eldridge used it in a video? When was that?), and when the Baume came out I got a tube to keep around for emergencies. This week, the condition of my nose was so embarrassing (bright red and dry skin all around it - trust me, it wasn’t a good look!) that I needed to do something - but every time I tried to apply anything to the nose area it was being removed by the tissue in 30 seconds time. Until I remembered that this was hidden somewhere. Three applications, and even with the continuous use of tissues my nose was nearly normal. I almost couldn’t believe it, and this earned a place in my everyday skincare box because I never want to forget about it again.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

If you’ve been wondering what was the little Sephora sample pot in the picture, here’s the answer. You know how it goes with me and foundations: if a new one comes out, there’s a 99% chance I’m going to try it.

I was hesitant to try this because I’d heard it was even more mat the NARS Sheer Glow, which looks anything but glowy on me. But I’m happy to report that I’ve had totally different results with this, and I love it! Yes, it’s pretty mat, I can hardly say it’s got a slightly satin finish to it, but it looks beautiful on the skin and doesn’t make it look flat in the slightest. The coverage is amazing, and the sheerest layer bounced on the skin with a sponge already has a good medium to full coverage. I apply the slightest amount: a tap in the cap of the tiny pot does my whole face! So, if you’re not liking this and finding it too thick or that it sits on top of the skin, try cutting the amount you’re using in half. I have high hopes it’s going to work better!

The thing that made me fell in love with the NARS All Day Luminous Foundation though is how it behaved during that cold (and then I’m going to stop talking about it, I promise!): with stressed skin with dryness and red patches everywhere, this made me look human. And even on my nose, that in winter is already dry so imagine with a cold, it looked perfect, without clinging to dry patches.

One last thing (or this is going to become a never-ending post!), the shade. I usually avoid anything pink because I look terrible with it on, but the right match for me is Mont Blanc, which is described as having pink undertones. it looks pretty neutral if not slightly yellow when swatched, and it works, so I’m not going to complain! I’m glad it works though, because otherwise I should have ordered Gobi online (if I wanted to buy it, which now I kinda do, lol!) and I wouldn’t have been able to test it properly before.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I won’t say too much about this as I’ve just posted a full review here in my last post, but what you need to know is that’s amazing. I’m back in the world of drugstore mascaras after my love relationship with Lancôme Grandiôse (full review here!), and I couldn’t be happier. This €9.90 mascara gives me long, voluminous and defined lashes, lasts all day without smudging or flaking and it’s a breeze to apply. It’s love!

Rimmel Provocalips in I’ll Call you 

I’ve never been the biggest lover of liquid lipsticks, but this product changed my mind completely. Easy to apply, comfortable and long lasting, I like it better that Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge (you can read my comparison in this post) and allows me to wear a really bold lip without having to check the situation every half an hour. I have now bought the shades Little Minx, Dare To Pink and Skinny Dipping too, and the only one I don’t like is the last one, the nude, as it’s a really unflattering browny shade with a frosty finish. Ugh.

Formula X Sheer Strenght Nail Polish in Energetic

I love Formula X: their System is one of the best things I’ve ever got for my nails (I reviewed it in this post!), their nail polishes are beautiful and this new Sheer Strength range doesn’t seem to disappoint. The shade I have is a really sheer pink that gives a really nice look to the nails, and gives the look of a French Mani (the one with the white pencil trick, not the one with the stripe of white polish). I got this because I needed something strengthening and concealing for slightly damaged nails, but I ended up with a new nail polish love. And I almost forgot: this lasted 10 days without the System, just two layers of the nail polish and not even a top coat!

Febbraio è finito, ed è volato. Che differenza fanno due o tre giorni in meno! Comunque, oggi sono qui per parlarvi dei prodotti che mi sono piaciuti di più nell’ultimo mese: cominciamo!

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

Questo post sui preferiti del mese sarà inevitabilmente influenzato dal tremendo raffreddore che mi ha colpita nell’ultima settimana -  scusatemi, ma con il naso che cola e montagne di fazzoletti ovunque non potevo evitarlo. La cosa buona è che ho l’occasione di parlarvi di questo piccolo miracolo di cui mi dimentico sempre ma che finisce sempre per salvare la mia pelle: La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. Sono sempre stata fan del Cicaplast originario (vi ricordate quando iniziarono ad usarlo tutti perché Lisa Eldridge l’aveva usato come primer in un video?), e quando uscì il balsamo decisi di tenerne uno in casa per le emergenze. Questa settimana la condizione del mio naso era così imbarazzante (rosso fuoco e pelle secchissima tutto intorno - credetemi, non era un bello spettacolo) da rendere necessario un intervento risolutivo, ma ogni volta che tentavo di mettere qualcosa veniva rimosso dal fazzoletto nel giro di 30 secondo. Finché non mi sono ricordata che avevo questo nascosto da qualche parte. Tre applicazioni, e anche con l’uso continuo di fazzoletti il mio naso era quasi tornato normale. Non ci credevo quasi, e il Baume Cicaplast si è guadagnato un posto nella mia scatola della skincare quotidiana perché non voglio mai più dimenticarmene.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Se vi siete chiesti cosa ci potesse essere in quel piccolo contenitore Sephora nella foto, ecco la risposta. Sapete come funziona com me e i fondotinta: se ne esce uno nuovo, c’è un’altissima probabilità che io finisca per provarlo.

Non ero completamente decisa a provare questo però, avendo sentito dire che fosse ancora più mat del NARS Sheer Glow, che su di me è tutto tranne che luminoso. Ma sono felice di dirvi che o avuto un risultato completamente diverso con questo, e lo adoro! Sì, è piuttosto mat, posso a malapena dire che il finish sia leggermente satinato, ma appare bellissimo sulla pelle e non fa effetto piatto neanche un pochino. La coprenza è incredibile, e lo strato più sottile tamponato sulla pelle con una spugnetta dona una copertura da media a totale. Applico uno strato leggerissimo: un colpetto nel piccolo tappo del contenitore è sufficiente per tutto il viso! Quindi, se avete provato questo fondotinta e non vi è piaciuto perché troppo spesso o innaturale, provate ad usarne la metà. Credo proprio che vi piacerà di più!

La cosa che mi ha fatto davvero innamorare del NARS All Day Luminous è però come si è comportato durante questo raffreddore (e poi smetto di parlarne, giuro!): con la pelle stressata con secchezza e rossori ovunque, mi ha fatto apparire perfetta. Anche sul mio naso, che già di suo si diverte ad essere secco in inverno quindi figuratevi con il raffreddore, il risultato è stato perfetto, senza evidenziare per niente la secchezza.

Un’ultima cosa (o questo post diventerà infinito!), la tonalità. Di solito evito qualunque cosa sia anche solo leggermene rosata perché mi sta malissimo, ma il colore giusto per me è  Mont Blanc, che è descritto come una tonalità dal sottotono rosa. A me sembra piuttosto neutro se non leggermente dorato, e funziona, quindi non mi lamento! Sono felice che vada bene poi perché se no avrei dovuto ordinare online Gobi (se avessi avuto intenzione di comprarlo. Quasi quasi…) e non sarei stata in grado di provarlo bene prima.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Non mi dilungherò molto a proposito di questo mascara, visto che l’ho appena recensito nell’ultimo post, ma quello che avete bisogno di sapere è che è favoloso. Sono tornata nel mondo dei mascara da drugstore dopo il mio idillio d’amore con Lancôme Grandiôse (recensito qui!), e non potrei esserne più felice. Questo mascara da €9.90 mi dona ciglia volumizzate, allungate e definite, dura tutto il giorno senza sbavare o sbriciolarsi ed è una meraviglia da applicare. Lo adoro!

Rimmel Provocalips in I’ll Call You

Non sono mai stata la più grande fan dei rossetti liquidi, ma questo prodotto mi ha fatto cambiare idea completamente. Semplice da applicare, confortevole e a lunga durata, mi piace di più dell’Aqua Rouge Make Up For Ever (potete leggere il confronto in questo post) e mi permette di indossare un rossetto dal colore deciso senza dover controllare la situazione ogni mezzora. Ho preso anche i colori Little Minx, Dare To Pink and Skinny Dipping, e l’unico che non mi piace è l’ultimo, il nude, visto che è un marroncino terribile dal finish frost. Ugh.

Formila X Sheer Strenght Nail Polish in Energetic

Amo Formula X: il loro System è una delle cose migliori mai trovate per le mie unghie (l’ho recensito in questo post!), i loro smalti sono bellissimi e questa nuova linea Sheer Strength non mi ha delusa. La tonalità che possiedo è un rosa molto trasparente che da un bellissimo effetto sulle unghie, e mi ricorda l’aspetto di una French Manicure (quella con il trucchetto della matita bianca, non della riga di smalto bianco). Ho presto questo smalto perché avevo bisogno di qualcosa d rinforzante e leggermente camuffante per unghie leggermente danneggiate, ma mi sono ritrovata con un nuovo smalto preferito. Quasi mi dimenticavo: è durato 10 giorni senza il System, solo due strati di smalto e nemmeno un top coat!

The KIKO Foundation Wardrobe

There’s a new generation of foundations at Kiko, and, just like the brand, they’re getting more attention everyday. Let’s see what I think of them! (With a clear winner!)

Over the years I’ve tried a few (Kiko, being an Italian brand, has been around for a while here!), and the verdict has always been bad. The main problem for me has always been the poor shades selection, but the first thing they’ve done with their more recent releases is expanding their offering adding more shades and, even better, dividing them by undertone! Being actually able to wear them I’ve been trying them out, so let’s see how they perform on me.

Liquid Skin Second Skin Foundation

This is their more recent one, that’s meant to give a second skin effect whilst containing active ingredients like Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Resveratrol, making it a skincare hybrid too. The texture is really light and it’s truly weightless, and the packaging is one of those beautiful ones with a glass bottle and a dropper. All of this kind of justify the higher price (€18.90, definitely over the drugstore price range), and well, I like this foundation but I don’t love it. The problem? The coverage. They say it’s got medium buildable coverage, but I got a light coverage even if layering. In their defense, I haven’t tried the brush that came out with it (which looks kind of cool as it’s similar to the Bare Minerals one with a space in the middle to fit the foundation in, but this time the heart’s made of sponge), that maybe considerably ups the coverage level. The finish has got a beautiful satin effect and it’s really, really lovely, but if you have anything less than perfect skin you’ll find that you’re going to need more concealer than usual (even if, like me, you’re used to your redness showing a bit!).

Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation

This is the Kiko foundation everyone is talking about, and until recently it was the one I hadn’t tried. Then I saw the price: €5,90? How is it possible that’s getting so much love? Well, it is. A typical fluid foundation, offers a good solid medium coverage and works beautifully with fingers or with the Kiko Precision Blender Sponge. A few notes about the sponge: is amazing! I like to use it dry to bounce the foundation on the skin and works perfectly to apply a thin even layer like I love. I don’t find it works well with formulas like the Liquid Skin Foundation, but with more typical foundation textures is perfect. Back to the foundation: good coverage, lovely texture and I have to add great shades selection. The only flaw I’ve found is that even though is marketed to be hydrating it isn’t the most hydrating formula I’ve found, but lately my skin has been a bit drier than usual so maybe it’s not its fault. The lasting power is pretty good: it probably doesn’t arrive at late evening hours perfectly, but for the price, is still impressive.

Unlimited Foundation

This, out of all of these, is the one you need. Seriously, I can see why the Universal Fit is so hyped up, but this is simply amazing. Since today we’re talking prices, this at €14.90 is reasonably well priced. Marketed as a long-lasting foundation, it keeps its promises without being heavy and mask like. I’ve recently tried a sample of the newly reformulated Clarins Everlasting+ Foundation, and it was like having a mask on the skin. This Kiko one is a million times better! It must be because of the blend of exotic oils meant to hydrate and nourish the skin, and they work. As I’ve mentioned my skin has been a little bit drier recently and this still works amazingly! It worked well months ago too when it first came out and my skin was a little bit more normal-combination, so I guess a combination-oily skin is going to love it too, with just a bit of powder needed. The coverage is medium to full, and the sheer layer I apply with the Precision Sponge is perfect as it covers my redness without masking the skin. It lasts all day long, and the satin finish is really lovely. A winner!

È arrivata una nuova generazione di fondotinta da Kiko, e, proprio come la marca in generale, stanno ottenendo più attenzione ogni giorno che passa. Li ho provati, ed ecco che cosa ne penso! (…c’è un chiaro vincitore!)

Nel corso degli anni ho provato svariati fondotinta Kiko (essendo una marca italiana qua è presente da un bel po’!), e il verdetto è sempre stato negativo. Il problema principale per me è sempre stata la poca scelta di tonalità, e la prima cosa che hanno fatto con le uscite più recenti è stato espandere la loro offerta aggiungendo più colori, e, ancora meglio, dividendoli per sottotono! Essendo finalmente in grado di indossarli li ho provati, quindi vediamo come si sono comportati su di me.

Liquid Skin Second Skin Foundation

Questo è l’ultimo fondotinta uscito, ed è pensato per donare un effetto seconda pelle contenendo contemporaneamente ingredienti attivi come la Vitamina C, l’’Acido Ialuronico e il Resveratrolo, rendendolo un ibrido tra makeup e skincare. La texture è molto leggera ed è davvero senza peso, e il packaging è uno di quei bei flaconi in vetro con il contagocce. Tutto questo giustifica abbastanza il prezzo più alto (€18.90, decisamente al di sopra dei prezzi abituali), e devo dire che questo fondotinta mi piace ma non mi fa impazzire. Il problema? La coprenza. Dicono che possieda una copertura media modulabile, ma sono riuscita a ottenere una copertura leggera anche stratificandolo. In loro difesa, non ho provato il pennello che è uscito insieme al fondotinta (che sembra carino visto che è simile a quello Bare Minerals con al centro il posto per mettere il fondotinta, anche se questa volta il cuore delle setole è fatto di spugna), che forse è in grado di aumentare notevolmente il livello di coprenza. Il finish ha un bellissimo effetto satinato ed è davvero piacevole, ma se avete la pelle anche solo poco meno che perfetta vi troverete ad usare molto più correttore del solito (anche se, come me, siete abituati a lasciare che si intraveda qualche imperfezione!).

Questo è il fondotinta Kiko di cui tutti stanno parlando, e fino a pochissimo tempo fa non l’avevo provato. Poi ho visto il prezzo: €5.90? Come è possibile che sia così fantastico? Ebbene, lo è. Un tipico fondotinta fluido, offre una buona coprenza media e si applica benissimo con la dita o con la Kiko Precision Blender Sponge. Qualche parola sulla spugnetta: è fantastica! Mi piace usarla asciutta per picchettare il fondotinta sulla pelle e va benissimo per applicare uno strato leggero come piace a me. Trovo che non vada bene per formule come il Liquid Skin Foundation per cui vanno meglio le dita, ma per texture più tipiche è perfetta. Torniamo al fondotinta: buona coprenza, bella texture e devo aggiungere ottima scelta di tonalità. L’unico difetto che posso trovarci è che anche se indicato come fondotinta idratante non è la formula più idratante che io abbia provato, ma ultimamente la mia pelle è più secca del solito quindi è possibile che non sia colpa sua. La durata è decisamente buona: forse non arriva alle tarde ore serali perfetto, ma per il prezzo è comunque notevole.

Unlimited Foundation

Questo, tra tutti quelli di cui vi ho parlato, è quello che dovete avere. Seriamente, posso capire perché l’Universal Fit sia diventato così famoso ultimamente, ma questo è semplicemente stupendo. Visto che oggi vi sto parlando anche di prezzi, questo a €14.90 ha un prezzo molto ragionevole. Descritto come un fondotinta a lunga durata, mantiene le sue promesse senza essere pesante o a effetto maschera. Ho provato un camioncino dell’appena riformulato Clarins Everlastng+, ed è stato come avere una maschera sulla pelle. Questo è mille volte meglio! Deve essere grazie al mix di oli esotici pensati per idratare e nutrire la pelle, e funzionano. Come vi ho detto la mia pelle è stata leggermente più secca ultimamente e questo fondotinta va benissimo! Andava benissimo anche qualche mese fa, appena uscito, quando la mia pelle era più normale-mista, quindi credo che anche una pelle mista-grassa possa appezzarlo, magari con un po’ di cipria. La coprenza è medio-alta, e lo strato leggero che applico con la Precision Sponge è perfetto visto che copre i miei rossori senza fare effetto maschera. Dura davvero tutto il giorno, e il finish satinato è davvero bello. Fantastico!

January Favourites

The first month of 2015 is gone, and everyone is sharing its monthly favourites as usual. Here’s what I’ve been loving this month!

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

I featured this “Illuminating Vitamin Facial Cleanser” in my Night Skincare Routine, and I’m still loving it so much! A gel that behaves more like a balm cleanser, has an amazing scent and leaves the skin cleaner, softer and brighter just like they say on the box. It contains Pumpkin Enzymes to remove dull skin cells, Vitamin A to reverse the appearance of sun damaged skin, Vitamin C and E to protect and fortify the skin against free radicals and environmental damage, Starflower Oil that thanks to its Omega 6, Vitamin B, C and Magnesium improves elasticity and firmness whilst enhancing the lipid barrier and MSM (bio-available form of sulphur) that soothes the skin. So much more than a cleanser, and my skin loves it!

Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask

This creamy mask is truly a wonder product: it manages to cleanse the skin deeply whilst leaving it soothed and intensely hydrated. The main star of this mask is Manuka Honey, a traditional Māori remedy, that draws moisture to the skin and also has antibacterial properties. This wonderfully vanilla pod and mandarin smelling mask is meant to be applied in a thick layer over face and neck twice a week at sunset and rinsed off with warm water after 15 minutes, and that is so luxurious to do thanks to the dreamy consistency of this product. Thanks also to the Avocado oil and the antioxidants ingredients in the formula the skin is left soft, calm and radiant and the great thing in that’s a great spot treatment too, as it helps to fight them from the beginning.

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation

I know I just wrote a review about another Lancôme Foundation (the Miracle Cushion, here’s the post!), but the true love of the month has been this “bare skin foundation, natural light creator” you’ve seen me wearing in my last FOTD. In the Lancôme coverage rating this is a 3 out of 4, and I totally agree, as it’s a really good medium coverage. It’s radiant without being to greasy, and whilst is not incredibly skin like as the Miracle Cushion it comes pretty close, as it sits on the skin beautifully. Properly set lasts all day long, but the great thing that makes it perfect for this time of year is how moisturizing it is, as it’s truly comfortable to wear even in the cold windy weather.

Chanel Jardin De Chanel Blush Camélia Rosé

I’ve been wearing this work of art every single day in the last two weeks, and I’m deeply in love. It’s the most gorgeous shade of pink, and it’s perfect for a subtle look or a more intense one as the first layer goes pretty sheer but a little bit more makes the duskier pink pop more. I’m happy to say that the beautiful pattern is still there after many uses and that the shade hasn’t changed: I don’t like to bee fooled by the first pretty layer of a product to then discover something different underneath! The only downside of this amazing blush is the strong scent that all Chanel products have: my skin isn’t sensitive to it in blushes (but it’s slightly sensitive to it in their foundations as I can’t wear them for more than a couple of days in a row), but it’s worth mentioning.

Vichy Ideal Body Balm

I introduced you to this range in my last post, and this is my favourite product of them all. I’m not usually one for rich body butters as I like my body moisturizer to sink in quickly, but this manages to be wonderfully rich whilst quickly absorbed. The formula is amazing as it contains 10 great oils, Hyaluronic Acid and LHA, to help achieve “ideal skin quality” with continuous hydration, even tone and firmed and smoothed skin. I have my eyes on the wonderfully refreshing Milk-Serum as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer, but for now this is keeping my skin soft and nourished!

Il primo mese del 2015 é terminato, e tutti stanno parlando dei loro prodotti preferiti del mese come sempre. Ecco che cosa ho amato particolarmente nell’ultimo mese!

Skia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Ho parlato di questo detergente viso illuminante nella mia Night Skincare Routine, e mi piace ancora un sacco! Un gel che si comporta di più come un burro, ha un profumo divino e lascia la pelle pulita, morbida e luminosa proprio come dicono sulla confezione. Contiene Enzimi di Zucca per rimuovere le cellule morte, Vitamina A per ridurre l’aspetto dei danni del sole, Vitamina C e E per proteggere e fortificare la pelle contro i radicali liberi e i danni dell’ambiente, Olio di Borragine che grazie ai suoi Omega 6, Vitamina B, C e Magnesio migliora l’elasticità della pelle rinforzando anche la barriera lipidica e MSM (forma disponibile dello zolfo) che lenisce la pelle. Molto di più di un semplice detergente, e la mia pelle lo adora!

Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask

Questa maschera cremosa è davvero un prodotto fantastico: è in grado di pulire la pelle in profondità lasciandola lenita e intensamente idratata. La star della formula è il Miele di Manuka, un rimedio tradizionale Maori, che attrae l’idratazione sulla pelle e ha anche proprietà antibatteriche. Questa meravigliosa maschera dal profumo di vaniglia e mandarino è pensata per essere applicata in uno strato spesso su viso e collo due volte alla settimana al tramonto e risciacquata con acqua calda dopo 15 minuti, cosa fantastica da fare grazie alla sua fantastica consistenza. Grazie anche all’Olio di Avocado e a ingredienti antiossidanti la pelle rimane morbida, calma e luminosa e la cosa fantastica è che si tratta anche di un ottimo trattamento per le imperfezioni combattendole fin dalla loro comparsa.

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation

Ho appena recensito un altro fondotinta Lancôme (Miracle Cushion, ecco il post!), ma il vero amore di questo mese è stato questo fondotinta “pelle nuda perfetta, creatore di luce naturale” che mi avete visto indossare nel mio ultimo FOTD. Nella scala di coprenza Lancôme è indicato come 3 su 4, è sono perfettamente d’accordo, ha un’ottima coprenza. È luminoso senza essere pesante, e per quanto non sia completamente invisibile sulla pelle come il Miracle Cushion ci si avvicina molto, visto che appare naturalissimo sulla pelle. Fissato per bene dura tutto il giorno, ma la cosa che lo rende perfetto per questo periodo dell’anno è quanto è idratante, visto che è davvero confortevole da portare anche con il tempo freddo e ventoso.

Chanel Jardin de Chanel Blus Camélia Rosé

Ho indossato quest’opera d’arte tutti i giorni nella ultime due settimane, e ne sono perdutamente innamorata. È la più meravigliosa tonalità di rose, ed è perfetto per un look delicato o per uno più intenso visto che un primo strato appare molto leggero ma aggiungendone un po’ le parti più scure risultano più evidenti. Sono felice di vedere che la bellissima decorazione è ancora lì dopo molti utilizzi e che la tonalità non è cambiata: non mi piace essere ingannata da un primo bellissimo strato per poi trovare qualcosa di completamente diverso sotto! L’unico difetto di questo blush è la forte profumazione che hanno i prodotti Chanel: per la mia pelle nei blush non è un problema (ma lo è un po’ nei fondotinta, infatti non posso portarli per più di un paio di giorni di seguito), ma vale la pena ricordarla.

Vichy Ideal Body Balm

Vi ho parlato di questa nuova linea nel mio ultimo post, e questo è il mio prodotto preferito tra tutti. Non sono di solito una da creme corpo molto ricche perché mi piace che si assorbano subito, ma questo burro corpo riesce ad essere meravigliosamente ricco e ad essere velocemente assorbito. La formula è meravigliosa per il suo contenuto di 10 oli fondamentali, Acido Ialuronico e LHA, per aiutare a raggiungere la “qualità della pelle ideale” con idratazione continua, colorito uniforme, pelle rassodata e levigata. Ho già in mente di prendere il Latte-Siero super rinfrescante appena la stagione si farà più calda, ma per il momento questo burro sta mantenendo la mia pelle morbida e nutrita!

Lancôme Miracle Cushion Foundation

Something super new and exciting is arriving on Lancôme counters, and it’s the Miracle Cushion Foundation.

Being the foundation obsessed that I am - you should have guessed by now! (link - link - link) - I immediately grabbed it as soon as I saw it, and here I am to share my thoughts.

The box says “Liquid cushion compact - Fresh dewy hydration - Absolute weightlessness and glow - SPF23 / PA ++”, and I think this description is pretty accurate.

The foundation is hidden in a sponge, and is dispensed by pressing on the surface with the sponge applicator (or a brush, and fingers work as well - it comes out only where you press it so it’s not messy at all!). I like to pat it on in a even layer and then pat again with my fingers, to let it merge with the skin even more.

When it’s firstly applied is kind of wet and really dewy, but once it sets it’s incredibly skin like, probably the most invisible coverage I’ve ever seen. The coverage is something between light and medium, as it won’t conceal spots or a lot of redness or discoloration, but the beautiful way it sits on the skin diffuses imperfections making them less noticeable.

It’s truly weightless as the description says, as it’s just a light veil on the skin. The added SPF might be good but the sheer layer I like to apply isn’t going to do much on that department, but it’s still a nice touch (and a sign of the Korean origin of the cushion compacts).

Well, it sounds perfect, doesn’t it? But as I always do when I try a new foundation, I looked closely every day to find a fault, and well, unfortunately I did. It tends to sit into fine lines, and forget applying two coats, as that’s going to happen for sure. On me it happens between my eyebrows and in the fine lines that appear when I smile, but on more mature skins I fear this is going to be a real problem, considering also that I usually wear primer and powder on a daily basis.

I think this foundation is amazing, as it looks incredibly natural and is weightless and glowy, and a innovative technology like this is incredibly exciting, but the “sitting into fine lines” issue is going to be a problem for some. I’ve been wearing it all week and got a lot of compliments on my skin - not my makeup - and that is always good!

Qualcosa di davvero entusiasmante sta arrivando nelle profumerie, ed è il nuovo fondotinta Lancôme Miracle Cushion.

Essendo la fanatica di fondotinta che sono - dovreste averlo capito! (link - link - link) - l’ho immediatamente acquistato appena l’ho visto, ed eccomi qua a dirvi cosa ne penso.

La confezione dice “Fondotinta cuscino fluido - Freschezza e leggerezza assoluta - Idratazione suprema SPF 23 / PA++”, e penso che questa descrizione sia piuttosto accurata.

Il fondotinta è racchiuso in una spugna, e fuoriesce premendo sulla superficie con l’applicatore (o un pennello, e le dita vanno comunque bene - fuoriesce solo dove si preme rendendolo comodissimo da usare!). Mi piace tamponarlo in uno strato uniforme e poi picchiettare di nuovo con le dita, per farlo unire con pelle ancora di più.

Quando è appena applicato è leggermente bagnato e molto luminoso, ma quando si fissa l’effetto è incredibilmente naturale, probabilmente la coprenza più invisibile che abbia mai visto. La coprenza è una via di mezzo tra leggera e media: non copre brufoli o rossori o discromie evidenti, ma il meraviglioso modo in cui copre la pelle diffonde le imperfezioni rendendole meno evidenti.

È davvero leggero come dice la descrizione, visto che è solo un velo leggero sulla pelle. L’aggiunta della protezione può essere una cosa positiva ma lo strato leggero che mi piace applicare non sarà in grado di fare molto, ma è comunque un’aggiunta carina (e un segno dell’origine coreana dei compatti cushion).

Bene, sembra perfetto, vero? Ma come faccio sempre quando provo un nuovo fondotinta, ho osservato ogni giorno con attenzione per trovare un difetto, e purtroppo ci sono riuscita. Tende a infilarsi nelle linee di espressione, e dimenticatevi di applicare due strati, visto che succederà di sicuro. Su di me succede tra le sopracciglia e nelle linee che si formano quando sorrido, ma su pelli più mature temo possa rivelarsi un vero problema, considerando inoltre che io tendo a indossare un primer e la cipria quasi tutti i giorni per fissare il trucco.

Penso che questo fondotinta sia favoloso, visto che l’effetto è così naturale, leggero e luminoso, e la tecnologia innovativa lo rende davvero interessante, ma il problema delle linee di espressione può essere troppo grosso per alcuni. L’ho indossato per tutta la settimana e ho ricevuto un sacco di complimenti sulla mia pelle - non sul mio trucco - e di sicuro è sempre un’ottima cosa!

November Favourites

This month I’ve tried a lot of new awesome things, but as it often happens as soon as I started thinking about the products I loved the most a few reliable favourites came to mind. Here they are!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel

I talked about it recently in my Morning Skincare Routine, and it’s simply a hero. I’ve had a pretty stressful month and since with many worries often comes not eating well, the two things alone or combined tend to show on the skin. Well, me and the Clinique gel fought imperfections together and they didn’t see the light of day! Every time I felt a little blemish was trying to appear on my chin a light layer of this made it completely disappear. This stuff is simply magical!

Dior Diorskin Star Foundation

This foundation is simply too beautiful. Glowy but not greasy, long lasting but not drying… I truly can’t say a bad thing about it. A pump applied with fingers is the perfect amount and the shade 020 is really spot on for me. I’ve received a lot of random compliments on my skin recently, a lot more than normal, and it can only mean two things: my skincare routine is really working and this foundation is really so amazing!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

I feel an expensive addiction coming here: since I first started using it back in September (here is my review!) this has barely left my lashes. I’ve tried to use another mascara and while it might have been its fault (more about it in a upcoming post), I just missed the always perfect effect this gives to my lashes. Volume, length and definition with a really black formula and the most important thing for me: not a single day of bad lashes. A perfect result every single day! And it’s still going strong three months later.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

This cult favourite really has all the right reasons to be so well loved: I’ve never liked a single eyebrow pencil I tried until this one. They were all too waxy, too hard or too soft. The only ones I used were the powdery ones like MAC Veluxe Brow Liner or the Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil, but I was never satisfied. Then I fell for the hype… And I’m so glad I did! It gives a perfect but not too heavy result, and fills in the gap in my left eyebrow in a nearly undetectable way. I just ordered another one because I really don’t want to be without it!

NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush

I wrote a post on it recently (here it is!) and I couldn’t write this post without mentioning it. It applies cheek products in the most perfect way, giving a gorgeous result with brozer, contour, sheer and pigmented blushes and highlight. I’m starting to use it for that sheer layer of powder I put on my nose if I’m facing a long day, and it’s perfect for that too. I’ve seen someone complaining about it being a little scratchy, but I find it really soft! An expensive investment, but so worth it!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Clinical Clearing Gel

Ne ho parlato nella mia routine mattutina, ed è semplicemente un eroe. Ho avuto un mese piuttosto stressante e visto che con molte preoccupazioni spesso arriva anche una dieta equilibrata, le due cose da sole o combinate tendono a farsi vedere sulla pelle. Beh, io e il gel Clinique abbiamo combattuto insieme le imperfezioni e non hanno visto la luce del giorno! Ogni volta che sentivo un piccolo brufolo spuntare sul mento un leggero strato di questo gel l’ha fatto sparire. È semplicemente magico!

Dior Diorskin Nude Foundation

Questo fondotinta è semplicemente troppo bello. Luminoso ma non lucido, a lunga durata ma non asciutto… Non riesco davvero a trovargli un difetto. Un’erogazione applicata con le dita è la quantità perfetta e la tonalità 020 è davvero adatta a me. Ho ricevuto un sacco di complimenti per la mia pelle ultimamente, molto di più del normale, e può voler dire solo due cose: la mia routine skincare sta funzionando alla grande e questo fondotinta è davvero meraviglioso!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

Intravedo all’orizzonte un’abitudine pericolosa: da quando a settembre ho incominciato a usarlo (ecco la mia recensione!) non ha praticamente lasciato le mie ciglia. Ho provato a usare un altro mascara e per quanto è possibile che il difetto fosse suo (di più in un futuro post), mi è proprio mancato l’effetto sempre perfetto che questo mascara dona alle mie ciglia. Volume, lunghezza, definizione con una formula davvero nera e la cosa per me più importante: neanche un giorno di ciglia non impeccabili. Un risultato perfetto ogni singolo giorno! Èd è ancora perfetto dopo tre mesi.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Questo prodotto cult ha davvero tutte le ragioni per essere così amato: non ho mai amato nessuna matita per sopracciglia prima di questa. Erano tutte troppo cerose, troppo dure, troppo morbide. Le uniche che usavo erano quelle effetto polvere come la MAC Veluxe Brow Liner o la Dior Sourcils Poudre, ma non ero mai soddisfatta. Poi ho deciso di seguire la corrente… E sono così contenta di averlo fatto! Da un risultato perfetto ma non troppo evidente, e riempie lo spazio nella mia sopracciglia sinistra in maniera quasi invisibile. Ne ho appena ordinata un’altra perché non voglio trovarmi senza!

NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush

Ho scritto un intero post a proposito di questo pennello (eccolo qui!) e non potevo parlare dei miei preferiti del mese senza citarlo. Permette l’applicazione delle polveri viso in maniera perfetta, tanto un risultato stupendo con bronzer, contouring, blush più sheer o più pigmentati e illuminanti. Sto iniziando a usarlo anche per il leggero strato di cipria che applico sul naso se mi aspetta una giornata lunga ed è perfetto anche per quello. Ho letto qualcuno lamentarsi del fatto che non sia molto morbido, ma io lo trovo morbidissimo! Un investimento importante, ma ne è valsa la pena!

Marc Jacobs Beauty

When the highly anticipated Marc Jacobs makeup line came out, I immediately liked the look of the products and was intrigued by the good reviews. So, when it finally arrived in Italy too a few months later after a couple of weeks of covered stands and “Sephora Loves Marc Jacobs” written everywhere, I immediately run to the store to check the line in person.

Here’s what I bought over the months from the brand!

Style Eye-Con No.7, The Lolita

This neutral palette immediately became the most coveted item from the brand, and its’s really lovely indeed. It contains three really good mat shades, three shimmers and a rather glittery central one. The mat shades and the two last shimmery ones are really great and that’s what I use the most, while the glittery shade and the first shimmery one get a little bit less love. The glittery one is really dangerous fallout wise and the shimmery one is a little bit too pink, but they’re still really pretty.

The quality of the shadows is really great as they’re really pigmented and creamy, and I really love the mat shades included as I always like to use a cream and a medium brown shade when I bother to do an eyeshadow look. I included it in my Natural Makeup Look last week if you like to see it in action!

Genius Gel Super–Charged Oil–Free Foundation

This foundation has got a little bit of mixed reviews, and at first I didn’t like it too. The problem was that it balled up like crazy during application, and I could’t find a way to avoid it. I forgot about it for a while, and then I started using it again: the problem was completely fixed! I then understood what was wrong: a silicon based product underneath caused that unpleasant effect, and a switch in skincare routine was enough to avoid it.

The result now? An amazing skin like finish with a subtle glow and a really good lasting power, so it’s just how I like it! The impressive shade range has something for everyone, and while I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite foundation I really, really like it and I can’t say a single bad thing about it. A single layer applied with fingers gives around medium coverage, and I like to pat a little bit more on the redness of my cheeks covering it up in a really natural way. Overall, a winner!

Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, Th(Ink)

This is my favourite item from the range. A really soft and pigmented eye pencil in an amazing dark slightly shimmery blue, it’s the most amazing twist on a simple black line and I’m absolutely in love. The formula is perfect as it’s really long lasting, works on the waterline too and well, I’d go as far as saying it’s my favourite eye pencil. If you want to buy something from Mark Jacobs, I really recommend one of these Highliners!

Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl - Sheer, Overprotected

A lovely gloss, which is described as a shimmery pastel pink. Honestly I can’t detect any shimmer, but the color is a really lovely pink that makes my lips slightly lighter than their natural colour.

It feels slightly minty for a couple of minutes after application and when it sets it gets slightly tacky as you’d expect from a lipgloss. Feels really comfortable on the lips, but it tends to collect when my lips meet even if I don’t talk to much so I’m not too fond of it. I might add that I’m not the biggest gloss wearer so it might affect my thoughts on this, but other than the lovely colour and packaging this is something I could have left at the store.

Overall I’ve been really pleased with my Marc Jacobs Beauty purchases, and I’ve been eyeing up the The Parisienne palette from the latest collection which contains some really amazing shades.

I’m only slightly disappointed as we always have the same problem here: they never sell the whole range of a brand, like they do in the US. I hope they decide to extend it soon!

Quando la tanto attesa linea di makeup Marc Jacobs uscì, mi piacque immediatamente l’aspetto dei prodotti e fui molto attirata dalle buone recensioni. Così, quando finalmente arrivò in Italia qualche mese dopo in seguito a un paio di settimane di espositori coperti e scritte “Sephora loves Marc Jacobs” ovunque, corsi immediatamente in negozio per dare un’occhiata di persona.

Ecco cosa ho provato finora!

Style Eye-Con No.7, The Lolita

Questa palette neutra è diventata immediatamente il prodotto più desiderato della marca, ed è veramente bella. Contiene tre ottime tonalità mat, tre shimmer e una piuttosto glitter. Le tonalità opache e le ultime due shimmer sono davvero stupende e sono quelle che uso di più, mentre la tonalità glitter e la prima delle shimmer ricevono qualche attenzione in meno. Quella centrale glitter è davvero pericolosa per via del rischio di fallout e quella shimmer è un po’ troppo rosa, ma sono comunque molto carine.

La qualità degli ombretti è davvero ottima, sono quasi cremosi e molto pigmentati, e mi piacciono molto le tonalità mat visto che quando indosso degli ombretti tendo ad usare sempre una tonalità crema e un marrone medio. L’ho usata nel mio Natural Makeup Look se volete vederla in azione!

Genius Gel Super–Charged Oil–Free Foundation

Questo fondotinta ha ricevuto recensioni più o meno buone, e all’inizio non mi piaceva. Il problema era che creava terribili palline durante l’applicazione, e non riuscivo ad evitarlo in nessun modo. Me ne sono dimenticata per un po’, e poi ho cominciato ad usarlo di nuovo: il problema è completamente risolto! Ho poi capito qual era il problema: il tutto era causato da un prodotto troppo siliconico usato sotto, e un cambio di routine di cura della pelle è stato abbastanza per evitarlo.

Il risultato? Un bellissimo finish effetto pelle nuda con una leggera luminosità e un’ottima durata, proprio come piace a me! La grande varietà di colori disponibili permette di trovare la tonalità perfetta, e per quanto non lo definirei il mio fondotinta preferito mi piace davvero molto e non riesco a trovare un difetto! Un singolo strato applicato con le dita dona una coprenza più o meno media, e sono solita applicarne un altro strato leggero sul leggero rossore sulle mie guance coprendolo così in maniera molto naturale.

Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, Th(Ink)

Questo è il mio prodotto preferito della linea. Una matita occhi veramente morbida e pigmentata in un bellissimo blu leggermente shimmer, ed è una bellissima alternativa alla semplice linea nera. La adoro! La formula è perfetta ed è davvero a lunga durata, va benissimo anche nella rima interna e mi spingerei addirittura a dire che è la mia matita preferita. Se volete provare qualcosa Marc Jacobs, vi consiglio vivamente uno di questi Highliners!

Lush For Lacquer Lip Vinyl - Sheer, Overprotected

Un gloss carino, descritto come un rosa pastello shimmer. Onestamente non riesco a vedere nessuno shimmer, ma il colore è un bel rosa che rende le mie labbra leggermente più chiare.

Pizzica leggermente per un paio di minuti dopo l’applicazione e quando si “asciuga” diventa leggermente appiccicoso come ci si aspetta da un gloss. Rimane comunque molto confortevole sulle labbra, anche se ha la tendenza ad accumularsi dove si incontrano il labbro superiore e quello interiore anche se non parlo molto, quindi non sono particolarmente impressionata. Aggiungo però che non sono solita indossare gloss più di tanto, quindi la mia opinione potrebbe esserne influenzata, ma a parte la bella confezione e il bel colore questo prodotto sarebbe potuto rimanere in negozio.

Nel complesso sono davvero contenta dei miei acquisti Marc Jacobs Beauty, e ho puntato la palette The Parisienne dell’ultima collezione che contiene dei colori meravigliosi.

Sono solo leggermente delusa perché qui c’è sempre lo stesso problema: non è mai disponibile l’intera linea di una marca, come invece è negli Stati Uniti. Spero decidano di ampliarla presto!
