2015 Favourites ft. Sephora, Formula X and more

The year is coming to an end, and the time for yearly favourites has come. Whilst I was thinking about what I wanted to write as my first beauty post after my long break (read more about it here), the beauty faves of the last few months kept making an appearance in my head. And so I thought: what’s better than the products I’ve loved for months as my 2015 favourites? Let’s start!

Skincare wise, I have a couple of firm favourites that never disappoint me: the Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover and the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot. The Sephora makeup remover is great at removing heavy makeup or just for being sure that every scrap of mascara has been removed, doesn’t irritate my eyes and so little is needed that it lasts for a really long time. I’ve been using this for years, and even if sometimes I like to try something different I always come back to it! The Vichy spot treatment is something I’ve only started using in the last couple of months, and while I still think my Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel is incredible (review - that stuff is the bomb against angry blemishes!), I’ve been enjoying this as a more gentle spot treatment. It’s specifically designed to treat blemishes without drying out the skin, thanks to the Hyaluronic Acid in it and it’s equally great to treat blemishes as it is to prevent them from coming out as angry monsters once you start feeling them coming under the skin (gross I know, but it’s the ugly truth!).

Speaking of makeup, the stars of the year for me have undoubtedly been mascara and eyeliner. Even on minimal makeup days mascara is something I just love to wear: when I came back from holidays this summer I was so in love with my tanned skin (and I didn’t have a matching foundation, to be honest!), that I took advantage of it and only worn concealer, mascara and brow pencil for a good two to three weeks. But I need an amazing mascara to be able to wear it alone, and my absolute favourite has been the Sephora Outrageous Curl Mascara. The tiny brush is able to give a not clumpy but incredibly voluminous look, gives amazing length to the lashes and as the name suggest is amazingly at holding a curl. A true winner!

2015 has been the year of the eyeliner for me, as I’ve been wearing it more than ever. Most days it’s just been a good sharp line made with an eye pencil (love the Kiko one I shared in my monthly favourites here!), but when I wanted an intense black line my favourite one to use has been the L’Oréal Paris Super Liner So Couture. I bought it more than a year and a half ago when it came out with the So Couture mascara (loooooooved that one too!), and it’s still my fave. It’s incredibly easy to use as the nib is really fine but not too flexible, and it gives a really opaque waterproof black line that’s not glossy but not too mat. It looks good with eyeshadow and on bare lids too, and I always come back to it after trying something else. Love it!

Nail Polish wise, I have no doubt. 2015 has been the year of Formula X. The System is something amazing at keeping nail polish on for ages: I get almost two weeks of wear and remove the nail polish before it chips because I have too much nail showing for my liking, at their nail polish formulas are the best around. Lately they’ve been coming out with portable kits which include either a classic shade alongside the System or a nail care program which targets different nail conditions. I love these To Go kits too and I find them great to save space on luggages or as an intro to the brand.

My favourite perfume has been, without a single thought, YSL Black Opium. The coffee gives an unusual twist to the vanilla in it and since I discovered it more than a year ago (and run out once already too) it’s been all that I’ve worn. Everyday, without fail. I prefer the original Eau de Parfum to the newer Eau de Toilette, and the bottle is incredibly beautiful too. I can’t see me changing perfume anytime soon as after more than a year I’m still in love with this one like the first day.

Here it’s my little selection of products that I’ve truly been loving throughout the year. A lot more springs to mind, but these are the true winners that deserve the title of “yearly favourites”. For the others, there are always Monthly Favourites posts… ;)

Benefit Roller Lash vs. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

When a few reviews of the new Benefit mascara, Roller Lash, started mentioning the mascara I’d been using for a while, Maybelline Lash Sensational, as a potential dupe, I was instantly intrigued. I had bought the Maybelline one on a whim, and the Benefit one was nowhere to be seen ’till the official launch date, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise. But the question is: are they dupes? Here’s my verdict!

You know I love Maybelline Lash Sensational: I wrote a review on it recently (link!), and I really think I’ve found a new favourite, with the bonus of a low price. Volumizing but mostly lengthening and defining, it has all the things I look for in a mascara without the usual problems I had with Maybelline mascaras in the past, like the residue under my eyes after a few hours.

The thing that made some people mark them as dupes is the similar shape of the brush: they’re both curved with shorter bristles one one side. But to me, they’re not dupes in the slightest. They’re two mascaras with curved brushes, but that’s it.

What are my thoughts about the Benefit one then? Well, it’s lovely. Defines and curls the lashes as promised, but it has one problem: I find it nearly impossible to build up and, shock horror, it makes my lashes drop if I try to. The brush is slightly harder and therefore slightly less pleasant to use (I like my mascara to glide on my lashes without feeling it “scratching” on them - think Chanel Le Volume and Lancôme Grandiôse, and the Maybelline one!), but it wouldn’t be a problem if the result was amazing. The purpose of curling the lashes comes with a slightly drier formula too, that makes the lashes harder: for me, it’s a big no no.

I’m going to stick to my Maybelline one and keep using Roller Lash until I run out, but I have no doubt: the one that’s coming home with me again is Lash Sensational!

Quando un paio di recensioni del nuovo mascara Benefit, Roller Lash, hanno menzionato il mascara che stavo usando da un po’, il Lash Sensational di Maybelline, come possibile dupe, ho drizzato le antenne. Avevo comprato il mascara Maybelline senza pensarci troppo e quello Benefit non si era visto da nessuna parte prima del lancio ufficiale, era quindi una piacevolissima sorpresa. Ma la domanda, adesso che li ho provati entrambi, è questa: sono veramente uguali? Ecco il mio verdetto!

Sapete che amo il Maybelline Lash Sensational: ne ho parlato in una recente recensione (link!), e penso davvero di aver trovato un nuovo preferito, con il bonus del prezzo basso. Volumizzante ma soprattutto allungante e definente, ha tutte le cose che cerco in un mascara senza i soliti problemi che ho avuto con i mascara Maybelline in passato, come i residui neri sotto gli occhi dopo qualche ora.

La cosa che ha fatto pensare a un potenziale dupe è la forma simile dello scovolino: sono entrambi curvi con le setole più corte da un lato. Ma secondo me, non sono dupe per niente. Sono due mascara con lo scovolino curvo, ma le similitudini finiscono qui.

Quindi che cosa ne penso del mascara Benefit? Beh, è carino. Definisce e curva le ciglia come promesso, ma ha un problema: lo trovo praticamente impossibile da costruire e, soprattutto, se ci provo le mie ciglia si appesantiscono. Lo scovolino è leggermente più duro e quindi meno piacevole da usare (mi piace che il mascara scivoli sulle ciglia durante l’applicazione - pensate a Lancôme Grandiôse, Chanel Le Volume e a quello Maybelline!), ma non sarebbe un problema se il risultato fosse eccezionale. Il fatto che sia pensato come mascara incurvante fa sì che la formula sia leggermente più asciutta, e ciò rende le ciglia più dure: non fa proprio per me.

Continuerò ad usare il mascara Maybelline e userò quello Benefit ogni tanto fino a finirlo, ma non ho dubbi: quello che continuerà a venire a casa con me è il Lash Sensational!

February Favourites ft. NARS, Formula X and more

February is over, and it’s been fast. Two or three days less make such a difference, don’t they? Anyway, today I’m here to tell you all about the beauty products I’ve been loving in the last month, so let’s get started!

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

This monthly favourites are going to be affected by the heavy cold that caught me in the last week - sorry, but with a runny nose and mountains of paper tissues everywhere I couldn’t avoid this. The good thing though is that it gives me the chance to talk about this little miracle worker that I always forget about but always ends up saving my skin: the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. I’ve always loved the original Cicaplast (do you remember when everyone went crazy for it as a primer when Lisa Eldridge used it in a video? When was that?), and when the Baume came out I got a tube to keep around for emergencies. This week, the condition of my nose was so embarrassing (bright red and dry skin all around it - trust me, it wasn’t a good look!) that I needed to do something - but every time I tried to apply anything to the nose area it was being removed by the tissue in 30 seconds time. Until I remembered that this was hidden somewhere. Three applications, and even with the continuous use of tissues my nose was nearly normal. I almost couldn’t believe it, and this earned a place in my everyday skincare box because I never want to forget about it again.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

If you’ve been wondering what was the little Sephora sample pot in the picture, here’s the answer. You know how it goes with me and foundations: if a new one comes out, there’s a 99% chance I’m going to try it.

I was hesitant to try this because I’d heard it was even more mat the NARS Sheer Glow, which looks anything but glowy on me. But I’m happy to report that I’ve had totally different results with this, and I love it! Yes, it’s pretty mat, I can hardly say it’s got a slightly satin finish to it, but it looks beautiful on the skin and doesn’t make it look flat in the slightest. The coverage is amazing, and the sheerest layer bounced on the skin with a sponge already has a good medium to full coverage. I apply the slightest amount: a tap in the cap of the tiny pot does my whole face! So, if you’re not liking this and finding it too thick or that it sits on top of the skin, try cutting the amount you’re using in half. I have high hopes it’s going to work better!

The thing that made me fell in love with the NARS All Day Luminous Foundation though is how it behaved during that cold (and then I’m going to stop talking about it, I promise!): with stressed skin with dryness and red patches everywhere, this made me look human. And even on my nose, that in winter is already dry so imagine with a cold, it looked perfect, without clinging to dry patches.

One last thing (or this is going to become a never-ending post!), the shade. I usually avoid anything pink because I look terrible with it on, but the right match for me is Mont Blanc, which is described as having pink undertones. it looks pretty neutral if not slightly yellow when swatched, and it works, so I’m not going to complain! I’m glad it works though, because otherwise I should have ordered Gobi online (if I wanted to buy it, which now I kinda do, lol!) and I wouldn’t have been able to test it properly before.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I won’t say too much about this as I’ve just posted a full review here in my last post, but what you need to know is that’s amazing. I’m back in the world of drugstore mascaras after my love relationship with Lancôme Grandiôse (full review here!), and I couldn’t be happier. This €9.90 mascara gives me long, voluminous and defined lashes, lasts all day without smudging or flaking and it’s a breeze to apply. It’s love!

Rimmel Provocalips in I’ll Call you 

I’ve never been the biggest lover of liquid lipsticks, but this product changed my mind completely. Easy to apply, comfortable and long lasting, I like it better that Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge (you can read my comparison in this post) and allows me to wear a really bold lip without having to check the situation every half an hour. I have now bought the shades Little Minx, Dare To Pink and Skinny Dipping too, and the only one I don’t like is the last one, the nude, as it’s a really unflattering browny shade with a frosty finish. Ugh.

Formula X Sheer Strenght Nail Polish in Energetic

I love Formula X: their System is one of the best things I’ve ever got for my nails (I reviewed it in this post!), their nail polishes are beautiful and this new Sheer Strength range doesn’t seem to disappoint. The shade I have is a really sheer pink that gives a really nice look to the nails, and gives the look of a French Mani (the one with the white pencil trick, not the one with the stripe of white polish). I got this because I needed something strengthening and concealing for slightly damaged nails, but I ended up with a new nail polish love. And I almost forgot: this lasted 10 days without the System, just two layers of the nail polish and not even a top coat!

Febbraio è finito, ed è volato. Che differenza fanno due o tre giorni in meno! Comunque, oggi sono qui per parlarvi dei prodotti che mi sono piaciuti di più nell’ultimo mese: cominciamo!

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

Questo post sui preferiti del mese sarà inevitabilmente influenzato dal tremendo raffreddore che mi ha colpita nell’ultima settimana -  scusatemi, ma con il naso che cola e montagne di fazzoletti ovunque non potevo evitarlo. La cosa buona è che ho l’occasione di parlarvi di questo piccolo miracolo di cui mi dimentico sempre ma che finisce sempre per salvare la mia pelle: La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. Sono sempre stata fan del Cicaplast originario (vi ricordate quando iniziarono ad usarlo tutti perché Lisa Eldridge l’aveva usato come primer in un video?), e quando uscì il balsamo decisi di tenerne uno in casa per le emergenze. Questa settimana la condizione del mio naso era così imbarazzante (rosso fuoco e pelle secchissima tutto intorno - credetemi, non era un bello spettacolo) da rendere necessario un intervento risolutivo, ma ogni volta che tentavo di mettere qualcosa veniva rimosso dal fazzoletto nel giro di 30 secondo. Finché non mi sono ricordata che avevo questo nascosto da qualche parte. Tre applicazioni, e anche con l’uso continuo di fazzoletti il mio naso era quasi tornato normale. Non ci credevo quasi, e il Baume Cicaplast si è guadagnato un posto nella mia scatola della skincare quotidiana perché non voglio mai più dimenticarmene.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Se vi siete chiesti cosa ci potesse essere in quel piccolo contenitore Sephora nella foto, ecco la risposta. Sapete come funziona com me e i fondotinta: se ne esce uno nuovo, c’è un’altissima probabilità che io finisca per provarlo.

Non ero completamente decisa a provare questo però, avendo sentito dire che fosse ancora più mat del NARS Sheer Glow, che su di me è tutto tranne che luminoso. Ma sono felice di dirvi che o avuto un risultato completamente diverso con questo, e lo adoro! Sì, è piuttosto mat, posso a malapena dire che il finish sia leggermente satinato, ma appare bellissimo sulla pelle e non fa effetto piatto neanche un pochino. La coprenza è incredibile, e lo strato più sottile tamponato sulla pelle con una spugnetta dona una copertura da media a totale. Applico uno strato leggerissimo: un colpetto nel piccolo tappo del contenitore è sufficiente per tutto il viso! Quindi, se avete provato questo fondotinta e non vi è piaciuto perché troppo spesso o innaturale, provate ad usarne la metà. Credo proprio che vi piacerà di più!

La cosa che mi ha fatto davvero innamorare del NARS All Day Luminous è però come si è comportato durante questo raffreddore (e poi smetto di parlarne, giuro!): con la pelle stressata con secchezza e rossori ovunque, mi ha fatto apparire perfetta. Anche sul mio naso, che già di suo si diverte ad essere secco in inverno quindi figuratevi con il raffreddore, il risultato è stato perfetto, senza evidenziare per niente la secchezza.

Un’ultima cosa (o questo post diventerà infinito!), la tonalità. Di solito evito qualunque cosa sia anche solo leggermene rosata perché mi sta malissimo, ma il colore giusto per me è  Mont Blanc, che è descritto come una tonalità dal sottotono rosa. A me sembra piuttosto neutro se non leggermente dorato, e funziona, quindi non mi lamento! Sono felice che vada bene poi perché se no avrei dovuto ordinare online Gobi (se avessi avuto intenzione di comprarlo. Quasi quasi…) e non sarei stata in grado di provarlo bene prima.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Non mi dilungherò molto a proposito di questo mascara, visto che l’ho appena recensito nell’ultimo post, ma quello che avete bisogno di sapere è che è favoloso. Sono tornata nel mondo dei mascara da drugstore dopo il mio idillio d’amore con Lancôme Grandiôse (recensito qui!), e non potrei esserne più felice. Questo mascara da €9.90 mi dona ciglia volumizzate, allungate e definite, dura tutto il giorno senza sbavare o sbriciolarsi ed è una meraviglia da applicare. Lo adoro!

Rimmel Provocalips in I’ll Call You

Non sono mai stata la più grande fan dei rossetti liquidi, ma questo prodotto mi ha fatto cambiare idea completamente. Semplice da applicare, confortevole e a lunga durata, mi piace di più dell’Aqua Rouge Make Up For Ever (potete leggere il confronto in questo post) e mi permette di indossare un rossetto dal colore deciso senza dover controllare la situazione ogni mezzora. Ho preso anche i colori Little Minx, Dare To Pink and Skinny Dipping, e l’unico che non mi piace è l’ultimo, il nude, visto che è un marroncino terribile dal finish frost. Ugh.

Formila X Sheer Strenght Nail Polish in Energetic

Amo Formula X: il loro System è una delle cose migliori mai trovate per le mie unghie (l’ho recensito in questo post!), i loro smalti sono bellissimi e questa nuova linea Sheer Strength non mi ha delusa. La tonalità che possiedo è un rosa molto trasparente che da un bellissimo effetto sulle unghie, e mi ricorda l’aspetto di una French Manicure (quella con il trucchetto della matita bianca, non della riga di smalto bianco). Ho presto questo smalto perché avevo bisogno di qualcosa d rinforzante e leggermente camuffante per unghie leggermente danneggiate, ma mi sono ritrovata con un nuovo smalto preferito. Quasi mi dimenticavo: è durato 10 giorni senza il System, solo due strati di smalto e nemmeno un top coat!

Ecco i prodotti che ho amato di più questo mese - ho usato molte altre cose interessanti però, quindi tenete gli occhi aperti per le review in arrivo!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

There’s a new Maybelline mascara out, called Lash Sensational, and since it looked promising and my Urban Decay Perversion mascara (you’ve seen it in this post) wasn’t “the one” I decided to try it out. Here’s what I think of it!

I’ve always been one for drugstore mascaras. Well, mostly, as I never despised a good Chanel or Lancôme mascara (here’s my review of the super amazing Lancôme Grandiôse!), but I’ve always felt satisfied with my L’Oréal ones.

And back there I am: a few weeks ago, way before this mascara started making the rounds of blogs, I saw this and the brush instantly intrigued me. A curved plastic wand with what seemed like good solid bristles? It could be pretty good, and if it ended up flaking off like all other Maybelline mascara did on me, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

I’m happy to report this didn’t happen - no flaking off, no smudging, just fabulous lashes until nigh time! This mascara kinda reminds me of Lancôme Grandiôse and Chanel Le Volume, in the way the plastic bristles glide onto the lashes depositing a really black smudge free lenghtening, volumizing and defining formula. It’s easy to start from the root of the lashes and to use it on the bottom lashes too, as the defining properties of the brush make for a clump free application pretty easily.

What I like the most though, other than the effect (which is amazing!), is the fact that Lash Sensational is a one coat wonder. One of the things I hate the most is applying two coats of mascara. I just hate it, as it tends to clump or flake off if you wait not enough or too much, and it never ends up right. So when a mascara allows me to get a dramatic result with a little bit of building up but with a single coat, it’s love.

The other good thing, and a thing that always makes me discriminate between bad and good mascaras, is the fact that it looks amazing on my left eye as much as it does on my right eye. I always have less good looking lashes (and brows) on my left side as it’s the side I usually sleep on, and when a mascara doesn’t accentuate that and gives a good overall result I’m happy. And trust me, it’s not something so easy to find!

Now, let the picture of my lashes speak for itself. It’s not the best picture as I have an awful cold and doing anything makeup wise is a nightmare, but I managed to put mascara on without crying it all off an here it’s what Lash Sensational looks on.

One more thing: I’ve seen it compared to the upcoming Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, and the two brushes look pretty similar indeed. I read many reviews and the Benefit one sounds like something I’m going to love, so I’m not trying to resist and I’m going to try it as soon as it comes out here. I’ll report back!

È uscito un nuovo mascara Maybelline, chiamato Ciglia Sensazionali, e visto che sembrava promettente e il mio Perversion Urban Decay (che avete visto in questo post) non mi convinceva al 100% ho deciso di provarlo. Ecco che cosa ne penso!

Ho sempre preferito i mascara più “economici”. Beh, per la maggior parte per lo meno, visto che non ho mai disprezzato un buon mascara Lancôme o Chanel (in questo post potete trovare la mia review del favoloso Lancôme Grandiôse!), ma d’altra parte ho sempre amato i miei cari mascara L’Oréal.

Ed eccomi tornata alle origini: qualche settimana fa, prima che questo mascara iniziasse a fare il giro dei blog, l’ho visto e l’applicatore mi è immediatamente parso interessante. Uno scovolino di plastica, curvo, con quelle che sembrano setole belle solide? Poteva rivelarsi niente male, e se avesse finito per sbriciolarsi tutto come tutti gli altri mascara Maybelline hanno fatto su di me, non sarebbe stato poi così grave.

Sono felice di dirvi che non è successo nulla di tutto ciò - niente residui, niente sbavature, solo ciglia meravigliose fino a sera! Questo mascara mi ricorda un pochino Lancôme Grandiôse o Chanel Le Volume nel suo modo di scivolare sulla ciglia depositando una formula super nera, resistente, volumizzante, allungante e dall’ottima definizione. È semplice iniziare dalla radice delle ciglia e usarlo anche sulle ciglia inferiori, e la buona definizione che da fa sì che sia semplice applicarlo senza che si formano grumi.

La cosa che mi piace di più, oltre all’effetto (che è fantastico!), è però i fatto che con Lash Sensational basti un solo strato. Una delle cose che detesto di più è applicare due strati di mascara. Proprio non mi piace, visto che tendono a far sì che il mascara si sbricioli o si formino grumi, se si aspetta troppo o troppo poco, e finisce per non venire mai bene come potrebbe. Quindi quando un mascara mi permette di ottenere un risultato drammatico con un po’ di lavoro ma con uno strato solo, è amore.

L’altro lato positivo, ed elemento che mi fa sempre decidere se un mascara mi piace oppure no, è il fatto che appaia bello allo stesso modo sul mio occhio sinistro quanto su quello destro. Ho sempre ciglia (e sopracciglia) meno belle dal mio lato sinistro visto che è il lato su cui tendo a dormire, e quando un mascara non accentua questo difetto e da un effetto bello nel complesso sono felice. E credetemi, non è una cosa così facile da trovare!

Ora lasciamo la foto delle mie ciglia parlare da sola. Non è la migliore delle foto visto che ho un tremendo raffreddore che rende ogni azione collegata al trucco un incubo, ma sono riuscita a mettere il mascara senza piangerlo via tutto ed ecco come si presenta.

Un’ultima cosa: l’ho visto paragonato al nuovo Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, e i due applicato sembrano infatti molto simili. Ho letto molte review e il mascara Benefit sembra perfetto per me, quindi non tenterò neanche di resistere e lo proverò appena uscirà. Vi farò sapere!

Disappointing Product(s) #2 | New in from Rimmel

You always read about higher end beauty products here on my blog. There’s more than one reason for that (they’re more satisfying, more beautiful looking, and they’re the one luxury thing I like to invest in), but the ultimate one is because I think they’re better. But since spending a little bit less without loosing on the quality side is almost even better than spending a lot at Sephora, I often try products from more budget friendly brands. Luckily sometimes I find products and brands I like (today I used two amazing eyeshadows from Kiko, for example), but more often I have to say I’m disappointed, and the products I’m going to show you today are just that: some really, really big disappointments.

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara

When I saw this mascara at just a little bit more than 5€ with a promising looking plastic brush and the claims of a “multi-dimensional look: 3D brush gives volume, defines and lengthens lashes. Suitable for sensitive eyes” I had to take it home to try it. Well, the effect might be good even if not so dramatic and a big spidery ad crispy looking, but the true problem is another: this mascara hurts! The bristles are pretty short even in the fatter central part of the brush, and they’re so hard that you can forget putting on the mascara at the root of the lashes without hurting yourself. I wonder how they tested this on sensitive eyes, as it’s not just the formula that matters, the brush does too!

Rimmel Scaldaleyes Jumbo Liquid Liner

I wanted to try one of these liquid liners with jumbo sized applicators for a while, and this one from Rimmel, with its ultra black shade and claims of 24 hours waterproof wear looked promising. The good thing is that the promise of a “dramatic look in just one stroke with jumbo applicator” are true, and the effect is amazing. The bad thing is that this is the less long lasting liner I’ve ever tried. Waterproof? 24 hours? Well, on my it started to smudge and transfer after an hour, even when I tried to wear it with primer and eyeshadow underneath. Such a shame, because I loved the applicator!

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer in #063 East End Snob

I feel really bad for not liking this, since it’s been getting so much love recently! Said to be a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Pencil, I just can’t get on with it. It doesn’t matter if I apply it on bare lips, before or after lipstick, with lip balm underneath or on a primer, this just leaves little crumbles on the lips. Even with the lightest hand and sheerly on the contour of the lips, a flake or two are always there! It’s still wearable, but it’s really annoying nonetheless.

Qui sul mio blog leggete sempre di prodotti di marche di livello piuttosto alto. C’è più di una ragione per tutto ciò (danno più soddisfazione, sono più belli a vedersi e sono un piccolo lusso in cui mi piace investire), ma la ragione più importante è perché penso che siano migliori. Visto però che spendere un po’ di meno senza perdere dal punto di vista della qualità è ancora meglio di spendere un sacco di soldi da Sephora, spesso decido di provare prodotti di marche più budget friendly. Fortunatamente qualche volta trovo prodotti e marche che mi piacciono (oggi ho usato due fantastici ombretti Kiko, ad esempio), ma devo dire che più spesso mi capita di rimanere delusa, e i prodotti che vi mostro oggi sono proprio quello: delle grandi delusioni.

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara

Quando ho visto questo mascara per poco più di 5€ con uno scovolino in plastica così promettente e le promesse di un “look multi-dimensionale: l’applicatore 3D dona volume, definisce e allunga le ciglia. Adatto per occhi sensibili” ho dovuto portarlo a casa con me per provarlo. Bene, l’effetto potrebbe anche andar bene anche se non è tanto drammatico e l’effetto è di ciglia un po’ rigide, ma il vero problema è un altro: questo mascara fa male! Le “setole” sono piuttosto corte anche nella parte centrale dell’applicatore, e sono così dure che ci si può scordare di mettere il mascara fino alla radice delle ciglia senza farsi male. Mi chiedo come hanno testato questo prodotto su occhi sensibili, visto che non conta solo la formula, anche l’applicatore!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Jumbo Liquid Liner

È da molto che desidero provare uno di questi eye liner con applicassero jumbo, e questo di Rimmel, con il suo colore super nero e la promessa di una durata 24h waterproof sembrava una buona opzione. La cosa buona è che la promessa di un “look estremo in una sola applicazione grazie all’applicare Jumbo” è vera, e l’effetto è fantastico. La cosa negativa è che è l’eyeliner meno a lunga durata che io abbia mai provato. Waterproof? 24 ore? Bene, su du me ha iniziato a sbavare e trasferirsi sulla palpebra dopo un’ora, anche quando ho provato a indossarlo con un primer e un ombretto sotto. Davvero un peccato, mi piaceva un sacco l’applicatore!

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer in #063 East End Snob

Il fatto che questo eye liner non mi piaccia mi fa sentire davvero in colpa, visto che se ne parla così tanto come dupe della matita labbra Pillow Talk Charlotte Tilbury. Proprio non riesco ad andarci d’accordo: non importa se la applico sulle labbra nude, prima o dopo un rossetto, con un balsamo labbra sotto o dopo un primer, lascia sempre piccoli frammenti sulle labbra. Anche con la mano più leggera e leggermente solo sul contorno delle labbra, un pezzettino o due rimangono sempre. È pur sempre indossabile, ma è comunque una cosa fastidiosa.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

My favourite micellar water, end of the story. I always come back to it after trying new ones, because while others may remove makeup well whilst still being gentle this one just does everything better!

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser

Part of the Alpha-H kit I bought in my first Cult Beauty order, it’s such an amazing cleanser! A mild non foaming cleanser, it’s great for morning use (you can find my morning routine that includes this cleanser here) as it cleanse the skin without being drying, and it makes the skin super soft! I’d totally repurchase this in the future, maybe in another amazing Alpha-H kit!

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes

This is my oldest empties of this post, as I run out pretty soon after my last empties post. It’s a nice lightweight eye contour cream, slightly tinted and luminous, that works well under makeup. At the moment I’m using my Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, but I wouldn’t mind use this one again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

I already raved about it in this post, but seriously, this stuff is amazing as everyone says. I haven’t really liked a single eyebrow pencil before this one, and the few days I had to use something else while I was waiting for my second one to arrive I was lost. I ordered my third one the other day to avoid being without it again!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

I love this mascara, I truly do. It beats everything I used in the past and everything I’ve tried after. Everything, from volume, to definition, to length, to blackness is perfect and I’m simply saving a repurchase for the day I walk into Sephora without the urge of trying something new. A true, true love.

Here they are, and they were all good ones! I can’t really force myself to finish something I don’t like, and in that case things simply get given away to someone else who might like them. That way I don’t have things I don’t use around and don’t feel guilty about it ;)

È finalmente arrivato il momento di condividere un altra tornata di prodotti finiti! Acqua Micellare Bioderma Sensibio H2O

La mia acqua micellare preferita, fine della storia. È quella a cui ritorno sempre dopo averne provate di nuove, perché nonostante altre possano rimuovere bene il trucco ed essere delicate questa lo fa semplicemente meglio!

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser

Parte del kit che ho acquistato nel mio primo ordine da Cult Beauty, è davvero fantastico! Un detergente delicato e non schiumogeno, è perfetto per la detersione mattutina (potete trovare la mia routine che include questo prodotto qui) visto che deterge la pelle senza seccarla, e la rende morbidissima! Lo ricomprerei volentieri in futuro, magari in un altro kit Alpha-H!

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes

Questo è il prodotto che ho finito da più tempo, poco dopo il mio ultimo post sui prodotti finiti. È un contorno occhi leggero, leggermente colorato e luminoso, e va benissimo sotto i trucco. Al momento sto usando il mio Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Concentrate con Avocado, ma non mi dispiacerebbe usare questo di nuovo in futuro.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Ne ho già cantato le lodi in questo post, ma seriamente, è fantastica come tutti dicono. Non mi è mai veramente piaciuta nessuna matita per le sopracciglia prima di questa, e nei pochi giorni in cui ho dovuto usare qualcos’altro nell’attesa che arrivasse di nuovo mi sono sentita persa. L’ho ordinata per la terza volta l’altro giorno per evitare di rimanere di nuovo senza!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

Amo questo mascara, lo amo davvero. Batte tutti quelli che ho provato prima e tutto quello che ho provato dopo. Tutto, dal volume, alla definizione, alla lunghezza, al super nero è perfetto e sto semplicemente aspettando il momento in cui entrerò da Sephora senza il desiderio di provare qualcosa di nuovo per ricomprarlo. Un vero amore!

Eccoli qua, e tutti prodotti fantastici! Non riesco proprio a costringermi a finire qualcosa che non mi piace, e in quel caso le cose finiscono semplicemente per essere date a qualcun altro a cui potrebbero piacere. In questo modo non ho in giro cose che non uso e non mi sento in colpa ;)

Discovering Nabla Cosmetics

Nabla (link!) is a recently born Italian makeup brand that I’d been seeing around the web for a while. One day I stumbled across an offer and decided to make a little order. Here’s my experience!

First things thirst, the order arrived super quickly. It didn’t even took two days to arrive! They deliver in a lot of countries at really reasonable prices, so it should be readily available to everyone.

It’s also a cruelty-free and vegan company: it’s always good to know!

Eyeshadows

The things I was more interested in were the eyeshadows. And I’ve only good things to say about them! Pigmented and buttery soft, they’re really gorgeous and the quality is comparable to my favourite brands, Urban Decay and Too Faced. With 6 or 12 eyeshadow pans you receive the appropriate palette, which is great!

The singe eyeshadow in the pot, Daphne, it’s from the H2O eyeshadows range and it’s an hybrid between a liquid and a powder, being made of pure powder pigments pressed in water, and can be used wet or dry. It’s the most gorgeous burgundy shade and there’s no fallout, which was the main thing I was worried about. You can see it in this instagram picture.

Velvetline Eye Pencil in Golden Haze

This is another amazing product. A gorgeous mat grey with gold micro glitter that goes on easily and lasts all day, even in the waterline (even though I wouldn’t recommend it if you have very sensitive eyes). Being a mat shade with micro glitter in gives so much dimension to the line, and the result has a slightly green hue that I adore.

Film Noir Mascara

This is a nice mascara, but I don’t love it. It leaves the lashes light and fluttery whilst giving volume and length, but the problem for me is always the same: I can’t get an even result. I want a mascara that allows me to put it on in the morning without too much effort, and with this one I just can’t. An everyday case of bad eyelashes, I’d say. I’ve seen rave reviews though, so it might be just me!

Ghost Invisible Lip Barrier

It’s one of those invisible lip liners that work well to define the shape or as a lipstick base. It works really well, I love it!

Liquid Tech Lip Color in Amore e Psiche

It’s a liquid lipstick described as a pale peachy-pink, even if on me is more of a bright peach. It’s really pigmented and long lasting formula with a velvety mat finish, but I find it a bit too difficult to apply and too drying for my taste. They say it contains ingredients to keep lips hydrated, but it literally sucks the life out of them! The effect is really gorgeous though, so I’m going to slather on Nuxe Reve De Miel like there’s no tomorrow and keep trying!

I had a little bit of a mixed experience with this first purchase, but I hope to see more products from them in the future! I even discovered a couple of places that recently started selling their products in my city, so I’m going to have a little swatching session to see what else it’s interesting.

To sum it up: buy the eyeshadows. Really, they’re amazing.

Nabla (sito web qui!) è una casa cosmetica italiana piuttosto nuova che ho notato da un po’ in giro per il web. Un giorno ho notato la presenza di una promozione e ho deciso di fare un piccolo ordine. Ecco la mia esperienza!

Per prima cosa, l’ordine è arrivato davvero velocemente. Non ci ha messo neanche due giorni! Consegnano in molti paesi per prezzi molto ragionevoli, quindi dovrebbero essere facilmente disponibili per tutti.

È inoltre una casa cruelty-free e vegan: buono a sapersi!

Ombretti

La cosa che mi interessava di più erano gli ombretti. E vi posso solo dire cose positive per fortuna! Pigmentati e morbidissimi, sono davvero meravigliosi e la qualità è al livello delle mie marche preferite, Urban Decay e Too Faced. Con sei o dodici cialde si riceve anche la palette, cosa che trovo fantastica!

L’ombretto singolo che vedete, Daphne, è della linea H2O ed è un ibrido tra un liquido e una polvere, essendo fatto da pigmento puro pressato in acqua, e può essere usato asciutto o bagnato. È un meraviglioso bordeaux luminosissimo e non ha nessun fall-out durante l’applicazione, che era la cosa che un po’ mi preoccupava. Potete vederlo in questa foto su instagram.

Velvetline Eye Pencil in Golden Haze

Questo è un altro prodotto fantastico. Un bellissimo grigio opaco con micro glitter dorati che scrive benissimo e dura tutto il giorno, anche nella rima interna (anche se non lo consiglio a chi ha gli occhi particolarmente sensibili!). Essendo opaca con micro glitter la linea ha una bellissima dimensionalità, e l’effetto è leggermente tendente al verde, cosa che adoro!

Mascara Film Noir

Questo mascara non è male, ma non mi fa impazzire. Lascia le ciglia leggere donando lunghezza e volume, ma il problema per me è sempre lo stesso: non riesco a ottenere un risultato uniforme. Voglio un mascara che mi permetta di metterlo al mattino senza doverci pensare troppo, e con questo proprio non posso. Un caso quotidiano di “ciglia no”, direi. Ho visto molte review molto positive, quindi potrei essere soltanto io!

È una matita labbra invisibile che va bene per definire il contorno o usata come base. Va alla perfezione, mi piace!

Liquid Tech Lip Color in Amore e Psiche

È un rossetto liquido descritto come un rosa chiaro leggermente pescato, che su di me però è un pesca piuttosto acceso. È molto pigmentato e a lunga durata con un finish velvet-mat, ma lo trovo un po’ troppo difficile da applicare e troppo asciutto per i miei gusti. Dicono che contenga degli ingredienti per mantenere le labbra idratate, ma alle mie toglie fino all’ultima goccia di idratazione! L’effetto però è davvero bello, quindi userò Nuxe Reve De Miel alla follia per continuare a provare ad usarlo!

Ho avuto un’esperienza un po’ “varia” con questo primo acquisto, ma spero di vedere presto nuovi prodotti Nabla in futuro! Ho anche scoperto un paio di posti che la vendono nella mia città, quindi andrò presto a fare un giretto per swatchare un poi di cose per vedere cos’altro c’è di interessante!

Per riassumere: provate gli ombretti. Davvero, sono meravigliosi!

November Favourites

This month I’ve tried a lot of new awesome things, but as it often happens as soon as I started thinking about the products I loved the most a few reliable favourites came to mind. Here they are!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel

I talked about it recently in my Morning Skincare Routine, and it’s simply a hero. I’ve had a pretty stressful month and since with many worries often comes not eating well, the two things alone or combined tend to show on the skin. Well, me and the Clinique gel fought imperfections together and they didn’t see the light of day! Every time I felt a little blemish was trying to appear on my chin a light layer of this made it completely disappear. This stuff is simply magical!

Dior Diorskin Star Foundation

This foundation is simply too beautiful. Glowy but not greasy, long lasting but not drying… I truly can’t say a bad thing about it. A pump applied with fingers is the perfect amount and the shade 020 is really spot on for me. I’ve received a lot of random compliments on my skin recently, a lot more than normal, and it can only mean two things: my skincare routine is really working and this foundation is really so amazing!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

I feel an expensive addiction coming here: since I first started using it back in September (here is my review!) this has barely left my lashes. I’ve tried to use another mascara and while it might have been its fault (more about it in a upcoming post), I just missed the always perfect effect this gives to my lashes. Volume, length and definition with a really black formula and the most important thing for me: not a single day of bad lashes. A perfect result every single day! And it’s still going strong three months later.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

This cult favourite really has all the right reasons to be so well loved: I’ve never liked a single eyebrow pencil I tried until this one. They were all too waxy, too hard or too soft. The only ones I used were the powdery ones like MAC Veluxe Brow Liner or the Dior Powder Eyebrow Pencil, but I was never satisfied. Then I fell for the hype… And I’m so glad I did! It gives a perfect but not too heavy result, and fills in the gap in my left eyebrow in a nearly undetectable way. I just ordered another one because I really don’t want to be without it!

NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush

I wrote a post on it recently (here it is!) and I couldn’t write this post without mentioning it. It applies cheek products in the most perfect way, giving a gorgeous result with brozer, contour, sheer and pigmented blushes and highlight. I’m starting to use it for that sheer layer of powder I put on my nose if I’m facing a long day, and it’s perfect for that too. I’ve seen someone complaining about it being a little scratchy, but I find it really soft! An expensive investment, but so worth it!

Questo mese ho provato un sacco di cose nuove e meravigliose, ma come spesso accade appena ho cominciato a pensare ai prodotti che ho amato di più mi sono venuti in mente dei prodotti tanto amati e fidati. Eccoli qui!

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Clinical Clearing Gel

Ne ho parlato nella mia routine mattutina, ed è semplicemente un eroe. Ho avuto un mese piuttosto stressante e visto che con molte preoccupazioni spesso arriva anche una dieta equilibrata, le due cose da sole o combinate tendono a farsi vedere sulla pelle. Beh, io e il gel Clinique abbiamo combattuto insieme le imperfezioni e non hanno visto la luce del giorno! Ogni volta che sentivo un piccolo brufolo spuntare sul mento un leggero strato di questo gel l’ha fatto sparire. È semplicemente magico!

Dior Diorskin Nude Foundation

Questo fondotinta è semplicemente troppo bello. Luminoso ma non lucido, a lunga durata ma non asciutto… Non riesco davvero a trovargli un difetto. Un’erogazione applicata con le dita è la quantità perfetta e la tonalità 020 è davvero adatta a me. Ho ricevuto un sacco di complimenti per la mia pelle ultimamente, molto di più del normale, e può voler dire solo due cose: la mia routine skincare sta funzionando alla grande e questo fondotinta è davvero meraviglioso!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

Intravedo all’orizzonte un’abitudine pericolosa: da quando a settembre ho incominciato a usarlo (ecco la mia recensione!) non ha praticamente lasciato le mie ciglia. Ho provato a usare un altro mascara e per quanto è possibile che il difetto fosse suo (di più in un futuro post), mi è proprio mancato l’effetto sempre perfetto che questo mascara dona alle mie ciglia. Volume, lunghezza, definizione con una formula davvero nera e la cosa per me più importante: neanche un giorno di ciglia non impeccabili. Un risultato perfetto ogni singolo giorno! Èd è ancora perfetto dopo tre mesi.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Questo prodotto cult ha davvero tutte le ragioni per essere così amato: non ho mai amato nessuna matita per sopracciglia prima di questa. Erano tutte troppo cerose, troppo dure, troppo morbide. Le uniche che usavo erano quelle effetto polvere come la MAC Veluxe Brow Liner o la Dior Sourcils Poudre, ma non ero mai soddisfatta. Poi ho deciso di seguire la corrente… E sono così contenta di averlo fatto! Da un risultato perfetto ma non troppo evidente, e riempie lo spazio nella mia sopracciglia sinistra in maniera quasi invisibile. Ne ho appena ordinata un’altra perché non voglio trovarmi senza!

NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush

Ho scritto un intero post a proposito di questo pennello (eccolo qui!) e non potevo parlare dei miei preferiti del mese senza citarlo. Permette l’applicazione delle polveri viso in maniera perfetta, tanto un risultato stupendo con bronzer, contouring, blush più sheer o più pigmentati e illuminanti. Sto iniziando a usarlo anche per il leggero strato di cipria che applico sul naso se mi aspetta una giornata lunga ed è perfetto anche per quello. Ho letto qualcuno lamentarsi del fatto che non sia molto morbido, ma io lo trovo morbidissimo! Un investimento importante, ma ne è valsa la pena!

I was tagged by the lovely Renata of Speaking Beauty UK to do the Top 10 Tag. Thank you! I’m really happy to have the opportunity of doing it since I’ve been enjoying reading it so much! So… Let’s start!

Foundation

Make me choose between million lipsticks, blushers, eyeshadows… But don’t ask me to choose one foundation. I just can’t! I’m a huge foundation lover and if something works for me and there is a color match, I love it. If I had to chose only one though, it would probably been this recent one from Benefit, Big Easy. I haven’t worn it in a few weeks as shade 3 has become slightly light for me, but from the moment I got it until I’ve been able to wear it there hasn’t been a day I wasn’t wowed by it. I have a full raving review here!

Concealer

This one though is quite a no-brainer for me. I’ve always struggled to find a good concealer that covered without creasing on me, and I’d been using MAC Studio Finish for a while without being too sure about it. Then I discovered this gem, Make Up For Ever Full Cover. It covers absolutely everything and as long as you pat it in over a well moisturized area, building it as needed, it doesn’t look dry or cakey. It’s waterproof and I think the reason it holds and covers so well is that it truly seems to cling to the skin as you put it on, and it’s great both on under eyes and on blemishes or redness on the face. A keeper!

Powder

Another faithful fried here, MAC Blot Powder. I have repurchased it countless times and it’s simply the best powder I’ve ever tried. It’s invisible on the skin, never looks powdery and manages to keep shine at bay while feeling comfortable on the skin even in the depths of winter. It’s even lighter and more invisible than HD powders! I really can’t be without it.

Blush

This wasn’t the easiest one to choose, as I’m a big fan of the Satin blushes from MAC too. But NARS it’s without a doubt the best when it comes to blush and this one called Outlaw is simply my favourite. It’s quite a dark and pigmented one so you might need to master the application a few times, but it’s a dark plummy pink with a gorgeous really fine shimmer running through that it looks amazing on the cheeks. A firm love that it’s perfect for the upcoming autumn!

Bronzer

I’m sorry to tease you with a limited edition MAC offer, but since it’s already been repromoted I have high hopes that it’ll happen again. This Pro Longwear Bronzer in Nude On Board it’s my favourite as it’s a true golden bronzer that’s really flattering on my skin tone. As the name suggest it’s really long lasting and the fine shimmer in it makes the skin look glowy without being too much. It’s foolproof to apply and I really recommend you to try it when MAC brings it out again! You can see it swatched here.

Highlighter

I’m really sorry, but it’s another limited edition product from MAC. Again, this one or other shades are pretty regular in their collections so I hope you’ll be able to find it soon. This Whisper Of Guilt Extra Dimension Skinfinish has a really unique texture (almost creamy while being a really compact powder!) and gives the most gorgeous slightly golden glow to the skin. A little bit goes a long way and it can be applied lightly or pretty intensely without looking like a disco ball since the shimmer is so fine. It’s the only highlighter I actually wear pretty regularly, so I had to include it!

Mascara

I’m not sure the one pictured is actually my all time favourite, but simply because I have many favourites from the L’Oréal offer that I couldn’t really chose between them too (this one I reviewed in one of my first posts maybe is the one!). If it wasn’t so expensive Lancôme Grandiôse would have gone straight to the top though: it’s perfect! Volume and blackness at first swipe, I haven’t had a single bad mascara day since I started using it. I reviewed it here, have a look for applications tips too!

Eyeshadow

This was a hard and a easy one at the same time. I am pretty sure my favourite eye shadows come from Too Faced as the quality is just the best, but I couldn’t chose which palette include here. In the end I went for this one as it’s one of my most used ones and has a huge variety of shades (with some fantastic face products included!). The A Few Of My Favorite Things Palette was limited edition from last year but the point here is: read a couple reviews to make sure you’re getting a good one that’s right for you but don’t hesitate too much, you won’t go wrong with Too Faced!

Brows

This was the easiest choice ever as it’s the only thing I’ve worn on my brows in the last year: Benefit GimmeBrow! Perfect eyebrows in a few swipes, and you can fill them in too using the tip of the applicator. I haven’t heard any bad word about it (bare in mind that for brows that need to be draw in places a pencil or powder has to be used alongside this!) and if you haven’t tried it, do it.

Lipstick

Slightly cheating here, but I’m giving you the honest answer. Dior Addict Lip Glow is what I’m wearing on my lips most days! It’s basically a gorgeous tinted lip balm and it gives my lips color and moisture, so it’s really the perfect lip product. If you’ve been hesitant to splurge on this I’m going to give you the final spur to go and splash an enormous amount of money on a lip balm. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Fondotinta

Fatemi scegliere tra milioni di rossetti, blush, ombretti… Ma non chiedetemi di scegliere un solo fondotinta. Non posso! Sono una grande amante dei fondotinta e se qualcosa funziona e c’è un buon colore per me, mi piace. Se dovessi sceglierne solo uno però, sarebbe probabilmente questo di Benefit abbastanza recente, Big Easy. Non lo indosso da qualche settimana visto che la tonalità numero 3 è diventata leggermente troppo chiara per me, ma dal momento un cui l’ho comprato finché sono stata in grado di metterlo non c’è stato un giorno in cui non mi abbia piacevolmente stupita. Ho scritto un’entusiasta recensione completa qui!

Correttore

Al contrario qui posso dare una risposta sicura. Ho sempre fatto fatica a trovare un correttore che coprisse e non andasse nelle pieghe, e ho usato lo Studio Finish di MAC per un bel po’ senza essere completamente convinta. Poi ho scoperto questo gioiello, Make Up For Ever Full Cover. Copre tutto e finché viene tamponato su un’area ben idratata, costruendolo se necessario, non appare secco o pastoso. È waterproof e penso che la ragione per cui copra così bene e duri così tanto sia che sembra aggrapparsi alla pelle durante l’applicazione, ed è fantastico sia sul contorno occhi sia su brufoli o rossori sul viso.

Cipria

Ecco un altro fedele amico, MAC Blot Powder. L’ho ricomprata numerose volte ed è semplicemente la migliore cipria che io abbia mai usato. È invisibile sulla pelle, non appare mai polverosa e riesce a mantenere lontana la lucidità rimanendo confortevole anche nel freddo invernale. È ancora più invisibile e leggera delle ciprie HD! Non posso davvero farne a meno.

Blush

Questa non è stata una scelta facile, visto che sono anche una grande fan dei blush Satin di MAC. NARS però è senza dubbio la miglior marca in fatto di blush e il mio preferito è Outlaw. È piuttosto scuro e pigmentato quindi bisogna fare un po’ di pratica nell’applicazione, ma è un rosa scuro tendente al prugna meravigliosamente shimmer ed è favoloso sulle guance. Un fermo preferito che è perfetto per l’autunno in arrivo!

Terra

Mi spiace di struzzicarvi con un’edizione limitata MAC, ma visto che è stato già riproposto spero che succeda di nuovo. Questo Pro Longwear Bronzer in Nude On Board è il mio preferito visto che la sua tonalità davvero dorata che sta benissimo con la mia pelle. Come suggerisce il nome dura molto a lungo e il sottile shimmer che lo attraversa fa risplendere la pelle senza risultare eccessivo. È immediato nell’applicazione e vi consiglio di provarlo la prossima volta che MAC lo ripropone! Potete vedere uno swatch qui.

Illuminante

Mi dispiace davvero, ma è un’altra edizione limitata MAC. Di nuovo, questo o altre tonalità sono piuttosto regolari nelle loro collezioni quindi spero che sarete in grado di trovarlo presto. Questo Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Whisper Of Guilt ha una texture davvero unica (quasi cremosa pur essendo una polvere molto compatta!) e dona alla pelle la più meravigliosa luminosità leggermente dorata. Ne basta pochissimo è può essere applicato con leggerezza o più intensamente senza apparire esagerato visto che lo shimmer è così sottile. È l’unico illuminante che indosso abbastanza regolarmente quindi non potevo non includerlo!

Mascara

Non sono sicura che quello che c’è in foto sia il mio preferito di sempre, semplicemente perché ho così tanti preferiti dalla selezione L’Oréal che non sono riuscita a scegliere (questo recensito in uno dei miei primi post forse è il top!)… Se non fosse così caro però Lancôme Grandiôse sarebbe andato dritto in cima alla lista: è perfetto! Volume e super nero alla prima passata, non ho avuto una giornata negativa in fatto di mascara da quando ho iniziato ad usarlo! L’ho recensito qui, date un’occhiata anche per qualche consiglio per l’applicazione!

Ombretto

Questa è stata una scelta difficile e semplice allo stesso tempo. Sono abbastanza sicura che i miei ombretti preferiti siano i Too Faced visto che la qualità è semplicemente la migliore, ma non riuscivo a scegliere quale palette includere. Alla fine ho deciso per questa visto che ha una grande varietà di colori (e in più dei meravigliosi prodotti viso!). La Palette A Few Of My Favourite Things era un’edizione limitata dell’anno scorso ma il punto è questo: leggete un paio di recensioni per essere sicuri di fare una buona scelta che sia giusta per voi ma non esitate troppo, non potete sbagliare con gli ombretti Too Faced!

Brows

Questa è stata la scelta più facile visto che è l’unica cosa che ho usato sulle sopracciglia nell’ultimo anno: Benefit GimmeBrow! Sopracciglia perfette in un paio di passate, e potete anche riempirle usando la punta dell’applicatore! Non ho sentito neanche una parola negativa (ricordate però che sopracciglia che necessitano di essere totalmente disegnate in certi punti avranno bisogno dell’aiuto di una polvere o una matita) e se non l’avete ancora provato, fatelo.

Lipstick

Sto imbrogliando leggermente qui, ma vi sto dando la risposta sincera. Dior Addict Lip Glow è quello che indosso sulle labbra quasi tutti i giorni! È praticamente un meraviglioso balsamo labbra colorato che dona alle labbra colore e idratazione, quindi è davvero il prodotto labbra perfetto. Se avete esitato a prenderlo vi darò la spinta finale per spendere un’enorme somma su un burro labbra. Credetemi, ne vale la pena.

Lancôme Grandiôse

If you’re a regular reader of beauty blogs you’ve already seen this new gorgeous mascara from Lancôme, Grandiôse. And I bet you’ve been curious about it, and tempted by the rave reviews. Well, I’m here to tell you: it’s amazing!

Being a huge lover of L’Oréal mascaras I rarely buy more expensive ones. I happily use samples of them - I adore Chanel Le Volume, Make Up Forever Smoky Extravagant, Guerlain Cils d’Enfer -, but when I need to buy one L’Oreal doesn’t disappoint. This one though came out at the perfect time: I had just finished my L’Oréal False Lash Flutter Waterproof, my Guerlain sample couldn’t last forever and I had 15% off at Sephora. I would have been rude not to!

This mascara has an innovative “swan neck” wand, that is meant to make application easier on both eyes. From what I can see on the directions included it should specifically help applying it to both eyes with the same hand. Well, after years of training I change my hand between eyes, so this could be not so useful for me. But the secret of making the most from this beautiful mascara is turning the wand following the eye shape. Let me try to explain:

1) I start with the upper lashes holding the handle from the bottom, a bit like I would normally do

2) then, coming to the outer corner, I flip it up to lift the outer lashes

3) for the lower lashes, I start holding the tip of the wand towards my nose

4) and coming to the outer corner I flip it with the tip towards the outer corner of my eye

I then change eye and hand and the process is just specular. I hope it’s clear enough!

Speaking of the effect this mascara gives, it’s crazy volume and blackness at first swipe. It’s not the most defining one I’ve tried, but it doesn’t make the lashes clump either. The volume is great, it elongates too and the curl it creates on my ok-lashes is amazing. It’s perfect for the lower lashes as the brush is the perfect size without being too small for the upper ones, and the formula is great too as it doesn’t smudge or flake even after a really long day. It’s got one of those plastic wands and it works perfectly. The things I love the most are the easiness of use and the blackest of blacks of the formula: it’s simply perfect!

Is this worth the high price mark? I always think that a mascara that gets thrown away after three months shouldn’t cost like a foundation or a blush that lasts a lot longer, but in this case, if you have a bit of money to spend on it and you’re curious, try it. It’s really a brilliant idea and i can’t really find a single wrong thing about it!

Se siete lettrici assidue di blog di bellezza avrete già visto questo meraviglioso nuovo mascara Lancôme, Grandiôse. E scommetto che siete curiose e siete state tentate dalle eccellenti recensioni. Beh, sono qui per dirvelo: è favoloso!

Essendo una grande fan dei mascara L’Oréal compro raramente mascara più costosi. Di questi uso volentieri campioni - adoro Le Volume de Chanel, Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant, Guerlain Cils d’Enfer -, ma quando ho bisogno di comprarne uno L’Oréal non mi delude mai. Questo mascara però è uscito nel momento perfetto: avevo appena finito il mio Ciglia Finte Farfalla Waterproof, il mio campione Guerlain non poteva durare per sempre e avevo uno sconto del 15% da Sephora. Non potevo lasciarmelo scappare!

Questo mascara ha un’innovativa impugnatura a collo di cigno, che è disegnata per rendere l’applicazione più facile su entrambi gli occhi. Da quello che leggo sulle istruzioni dovrebbe aiutare particolarmente l’applicazione con la stessa mano su entrambi gli occhi. Beh, dopo anni di allenamento cambio mano tra un occhio e l’altro, quindi non è per me particolarmente utile. Ma il segreto per ottenere il massimo da questo bellissimo mascara è ruotare l’applicatore seguendo la forma dell’occhio. Proverò a spiegarmi:

1) comincio dalle ciglia superiori impugnando l’applicatore dal basso, un po’ come farei normalmente

2) quindi, all’angolo esterno, lo giro in modo da impugnarlo dall’alto e “sollevare” le ciglia più esterne

3) per le ciglia inferiori, inizio con la punta rivolta verso il naso

4) e avvicinandomi all’angolo esterno ruoto l’applicatore in modo che la punta vada verso l’angolo esterno dell’occhio

Quindi cambio occhio e mano e il processo è semplicemente speculare. Spero che sia abbastanza chiaro!

Parlando dell’effetto, dona volume eccezionale e un nero nerissimo alla prima passata. Non è il mascara che definisce meglio le ciglia tra quelli che ho provato, ma non le unisce neanche e non forma grumi. L’effetto volumizzante è incredibile, allunga le ciglia e la curva che dona alle mie ciglia “ok” è spettacolare. È anche perfetto per le ciglia inferiori visto che l’applicatore è della misura perfetta senza essere troppo piccolo per quelle superiori, e la formula è fantastica visto che non cola o si sbriciola anche dopo una giornata molto lunga. L’applicatore è di quelli in plastica/gomma è funziona perfettamente. Le cose che preferisco sono la facilità di applicazione e il colore nerissimo della formula: semplicemente perfetti!

Vale il prezzo elevato? Penso sempre che un mascara che viene buttato dopo tre mesi non debba costare quanto un fondotinta o una blush che durano molto di più, ma in questo caso, se potete e siete curiose, provatelo. È davvero un’idea geniale e non riesco a trovare nessun difetto!
