December Favourites

2015 is here!
Wishing you all a very happy and generous 2015, let’s start the year right talking about the beauty things I’ve been loving in the last month of 2014!

Kevin Aucoin Lorac Lush Ren Kiehl's Pro Palette Sculpting Powder Midnight Recovery Redness Copperhead

Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium
After a long debate with my inner self, I ordered this little gem from Cult Beauty and… I’m deeply in love! It’s just perfect: perfect shade, perfect texture, easy to blend and nearly undetectable. Nearly, because with one swipe the sculpting effect is there, but you can’t see it! Not too orange, not too grey, it’s subtle and visible at the same time. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to get it!

LORAC PRO Palette
Another deeply desired product for a really long time, it finally became mine when my friend Kimmy from Beauty Isles shared a website (BeautyBar) and a discount code that made it reasonable for me to order it. I also got the PRO Palette 2, but it’s the original one that stole my heart: a perfect selection of matte and shimmery shades, with amazing texture and color pay off? This is what we want from the perfect eyeshadow palette!

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum
With the winter cold my skin decided to greet me with my biggest nightmare, redness. I have battled with it from a really young age, keeping it under control with careful care and protection from makeup too. It’s not too dramatic, let’s be honest, but the annoying patch on my lower left cheek really disturbs makeup application and anything that helps is welcomed.
So, here comes this serum from REN. Formulated to reduce redness and inflammation and most importantly strengthen capillary walls (that’s what I need!), I’ve been using it consistently morning and night and I’ve been seeing an improvement. It has an amazing consistency too and my skin just loves it, as it’s really calming and makes it super soft. Well done REN!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
You know I love this, I’ve featured it in my October Favourites and I just can’t avoid sharing it again. It’s perfect. For some strange reason I went two weeks without using it between the end of November and the beginning of December, and when I started using it again I wondered why I ever stopped (seriously, I don’t know why I did!). Smells amazing, makes my skin super soft and hydrated and gives it a lovely glow too. I just apply a few drops of this oli in the evening over my REN serum and let it work its magic overnight. Because that’s what it is, magic!

LUSH Copperhead Shampoo
I’ve always looked at LUSH solid shampoos with some suspect: how can something resembling a stone wash my hair well? Then I saw the description of this new one, bought it, and I couldn’t believe how much I loved it. I was in the shower washing my hair and I couldn’t believe a few swipes on wet hair could make such a lovely foam… And my hair was already feeling super soft while I was washing them!
What sold me on this one was the Persian red henna in it, designed to leave hair conditioned and glossy, and the fact that it’s meant to be for darker hair and for those with red tones. Ever since I started dying my hair because of evil greys I struggled to find a warm shade that didn’t pull orange and a more neutral one that didn’t kill my coppery hues, and this helps me fix that last problem. It brings some dimension back to my hair, all while making it super clean and soft… I have a new love for sure!

Here’s what I’ve been loving in the month of December, the last of a year that surely flew by with so many up and downs and changes I couldn’t ever imagine.
Thank you for being with me, here’s to a great new one!

What have you been loving lately?

Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum
Ben fatto REN!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

The LUSH lip saviours

Since my recent love for LUSH has begun (you can read my post about a few Christmas products here), it’s been one of my first stops when in need of something. With the winter cold dry lips came along, but my usual tricks (an old toothbrush and Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm) weren’t working, and so I went to LUSH and came home with two little things that I think are totally amazing.

LUSH Labbrividisco Scoprimi Whipstick Mint Julips

Mint Julips Lip Scrub
I know, I could easily do this myself with some sugar and olive oil, but I couldn’t resist the mint and vanilla in it! The mint makes it slightly volumizing, and whilst I don’t really need it it’s always a nice touch. You just need to pick up a little bit with your finger and smooth it over the lips, and then… Eat the few sugary bits left, LOL! It smells and taste amazing, and more importantly it really works: after just one use my lips felt softer and with less dry bits appearing during the day, and after a few days of use there were no dryness in sight. It even made possible for me to start wearing my Nabla Lip Tech Liquid Lipstick (here’s my original review!) properly. A winner!

Whipstick Lip Balm
This chocolate and orange smelling lip balm is absolutely dreamy. It’s able to intensely nourish the lips and honestly, makes me want to eat it! This might be a bonus though, since it takes the place of the evening piece of chocolate… Well, almost! :-P It contains a blend of rich butters, beeswax, honey and cocoa absolute: wheatgerm, olive oil and almond oil soften the lips, honey and oatmilk calm and soothe cracked and sore lips and shea butter and beeswax seal in the moisture. I’m absolutely in love with it, it’s amazing!

I’m yet to be disappointed in my LUSH-exploring experience, and this two products are true heroes! Have you tried them? Please keep your LUSH recommendations coming ;-)

A Lush Christmas

After many years without buying anything from Lush, a couple of visits to the store and I already feel a dangerous addiction coming.
I tried a few things from them a few years ago, and they left me unimpressed. The main thing, funnily, was that I couldn’t bring the gorgeous scents of the shop home. Well, seeing my current experience I think I simply chose the wrong products!
Let’s see what I bought from their Christmas collection!

Lush Christmas Snow Fairy Celebrate Snow Angel

Snow Angel Bath Melt
This bath melt rich in Cocoa Butter, dissolves with a really fine foam that soon leaves room for a gorgeous golden shimmer. The scent is simply divine, being slightly floral and with a distinct note of almond, and this product makes for a really moisturizing bath! I love that the shimmer is really delicate but you can still find a couple left somewhere on your body (it just makes me smile!), and it’s such a lovely product to use!

Snow Fairy Shower Gel
My visit to Lush was inspired by this post from The Misty Mom, where she talked about this shower gel, mentioning the slightly exfoliating properties of the Lactic Acid in it. Well, she was absolutely right! My arms tend to stay slightly bumpy no matter if I exfoliate or not, but this has really made a difference: they immediately feel so soft, and paired with the body lotion I’m going to talk about next I’ve had amazing results! The scent is really, really sweet, but I strangely enjoy it… I’m using it sparingly and only on my arms because I don’t want to run out too soon!

Celebrate Body Lotion
This is my favourite thing of them all. A really rich body lotion with a uplifting citrusy scent and a splash of cognac? Oh yes! It’s really moisturizing thanks to the Cocoa Butter and Almond Oil, and the Lime Oil, Brazilian Orange Oil and Orange Flower Absolute give it that amazing scent! I just love it, and I’ve been using it a couple of times a week to keep using other less interesting body lotions I have, but I feel a backup of this is needed… It’s just so amazing!

What have you bought from the Lush Christmas collection? Give me your Lush recommendations, I want to feed this new love!

Ho provato qualche prodotto qualche anno fa, rimanendo delusa.

Fate Voi - Gel Doccia
