February Favourites with Pixi, Becca, Nars and more

It's monthly favourites time! February has quickly come and gone, and beauty wise my favourites have been a no-brainer. I've discovered (or rediscovered) a few absolute gems this month, let's see them together!

REN Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser
Targeted towards blemish prone skin, it contains French Kaolin Clay alongside other naturally derived ingredients to prevent spots, smooth pores and control excess oil. It has a lovely creamy consistency that is not drying on the skin and I find it really calming: my skin has been rather spot prone due to hormonal reasons lately, and this is the cleanser I've been turning to every time my skin has been looking a little bit angry. I love it!

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
With the exception of a few annoying spots (that are still behaving quite nicely, if I have to be honest!) my skin has been looking amazing lately, smooth and radiant, and I'm pretty sure this is the product I have to thank for. It contains the star ingredient Glycolic Acid to gently exfoliate, Aloe to soothe and Witch Hazel to tone the skin among others, and I like to use it at least once a day on clean skin on a cotton pad. A new must have!

Becca Backlight Priming Filter
This illuminating primer is my new obsession: I've been wearing it almost non stop and I'm so glad I got it! It gives to the skin the most lovely glow, but without being over the top or leaning too pink or golden like other ones I've tried. It looks perfect underneath the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint, as it gives that layer of moisture and luminosity that it might need, and they've been my favourite everyday base duo.

NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint
Fully reviewed in this post, it's been my favourite everyday base this past month. Matte but not flat nor drying, it gives a good medium coverage that lasts all day and feels lightweight. The huge size makes it amazing value for money and the tube packaging it's simple and practical. It's love!

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation
The days I haven't been wearing the Nars base, it's been this. The amazing shade range and invisible texture has always made the HD formula from MUFE a winner, but this innovative Ultra version is even more amazing. Virtually invisible on the skin, it gives impressive coverage and it's that little bit less mat than the Nars base without compromising the lasting power. A must have!

NARS Impassioned Blush
I have a thing for Spring pinks blushes (last year I was obsessed with this work of art from Chanel), and this year's love is the latest Nars launch, Impassioned. Described by Nars as Pink Orchid, is a light pink mat shade that gives to the cheeks a lovely dusky pink glow that's really flattering. The formula is spot on as usual, and with the Nars Yachiyo brush it applies like a dream and last all day. Nars, you've done it again!

Burberry Eyeshadow in Pale Barley
You probably know my love for this already, as I spoke about it in my last post, but this eyeshadow has barely left my lids this month. The shade is incredible and the formula is amazing: I've been loving wearing all over the lid on its own for a polished and natural look, and I'm still struggling to use anything else. Definitely something worth investing on!

Empties #4 ft. Oskia, REN, Chanel and more

I’m pretty shocked and at the same time proud on myself, because here I am with another empties post after a little bit over a month from my last one. Am I closer to making this a more regular feature? Am I getting better at using things till the last drop without moving on something else (which I swear I am, at least skincare wise)? Let’s hope so, and let’s see what I’ve been using up lately as they’re pretty much all good exciting ones!

L’Oréal Paris Micellar Water

I bought this because with a crazy offer it came cheaper than my beloved Bioderma, and I wanted to try it. Well, just a micellar water with nothing special about it: removes makeup pretty well (even if not as well as other micellar waters I’ve tried) and doesn’t irritate my eyes, but I didn’t like the packaging and I found I went through it faster than I would have with a similar size of Bioderma. I wouldn’t repurchase it, but I wouldn’t say it’s bad either.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

After months of regular use as a nighttime cleanser, this wonder product has come to an end. But I have another one I’m going to open as soon as I finish a couple of other things as I love this one too much! A gel that behaves like a balm and contains loads of beautiful ingredients that make it a lot more than a cleanser, it does wonders for my skin as it manages to make it clean, calm, soft and bright. REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

If you suffer from redness, this is the product you need. Super gentle yet effective, my skin has loved this so much (I featured it in my December Favourites) and I used it till the last drop. It reduces inflammation to address temporary redness but at the same times strengthens the capillary walls to reduce permanent redness from fragile capillaries, and the effect are impressive and pretty quick too. It lasted me a little bit less than three months with regular use morning and night and I would undoubtedly repurchase it in the future.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed

I’m so fussy with powders: this is probably the only one I’ve truly loved. I don’t really like loose powders and coloured compact ones all seem to oxidize on me, apart from this one (which mostly behaves like a translucent powder if you pick the right shade). This one is finely milled, keeps oil at bay but isn’t drying in the slightest, and I really think a repurchase is in order. At the moment I’m using the Nars Light Reflecting one (which is lovely but I find it a bit drying and requires a really moisturizing base underneath) and the Rimmel Stay Matte one (which I’m incredibly impressed with), but I really miss my beloved MAC one.

CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Marron Glacé

I’m so sad this has reached the end, as I don’t seem to find it anywhere and I fear this is one of the random things Chanel decided to make a true limited edition, at least here. It’s the most gorgeous taupe eyeliner, with an amazing soft formula that stays put all day. it’s (it was!) my most reached for eyeliner for a quick look in busy mornings and whilst I have similar shades in other formulas this one remains the best. I’d repurchase it any time!

Sono piuttosto scioccata e allo stesso tempo orgogliosa di me stessa, perché sono qui con un altro post sui prodotti finiti dopo poco più di un mese dall’ultimo. Mi sto avvicinando a rendere questi post un’apparizione più regolare? Sto diventando più brava a usare le cose fino all’ultima goccia senza spostarmi su qualcos’altro (cosa che faccio già con i prodotti di cura del viso, lo giuro)? Speriamo, e vediamo che cosa ho finito ultimamente perché sono quasi tutte cose favolose!

Acqua micellare L’Oréal Paris

L’ho acquistata perché grazie a una super offerta costava meno della mia amata Bioderma, e volevo provarla. Beh, si tratta di una semplicissima acqua macellare senza nulla di speciale: rimuove il trucco abbastanza bene (ma non bene quanto altre acque micellari che ho provato) e non irrita gli occhi, ma non mi piace particolarmente il packaging e mi sembra di averla finita molto prima di quando avrei finito una quantità analoga di Bioderma. Non la ricomprerei, ma non voglio neanche dire che sia proprio pessima.

Skia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Dopo mesi di uso regolare come detergente serale, questo prodotto miracoloso è arrivato alla fine. Ne ho però già un altro che mi aspetta appena finisco un paio di altre cose perché mi piace davvero troppo! Un gel che si comporta di più come un balsamo e contiene un sacco di ingredienti meravigliosi che lo rendono molto di più di un semplice detergente, fa miracoli per la mia pelle visto che riesce a renderla pulita, lenita, morbida e luminosa. REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

Se soffrite di rossori, questo è il prodotto di cui avete bisogno. Super delicato ma efficace, la mia pelle l’ha amato così tanto (ne ho parlato nei miei preferiti di dicembre) e l’ho finito fino all’ultima goccia. Riduce l’infiammazione per intervenire sui rossori temporanei ma allo stesso tempo rinforza le pareti dei capillari per ridurre il rossore permanente dato dalla fragilità capillare, e gli effetti sono notevoli e anche abbastanza veloci. Mi è durato poco meno di tre mesi con uso regolare mattina e sera e lo ricomprerei senza dubbio in futuro.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed

Sono difficilissima in fatto di ciprie: questa è probabilmente l’unica che mi sia veramente piaciuta. Non mi piacciono le polveri libere e le compatte leggermente colorate sembrano ossidare tutte su di me, tranne questa (che si comporta più che altro come una cipria trasparente se si sceglie la tonalità giusta). È una cipria molto fine, che mantiene lontana la lucidità senza seccare per nulla la pelle, e penso che sia davvero giunto il momento di ricomprarla. Al momento sto usando la Light Reflecting Powder di Nars (che è molto bella ma trovo secchi leggermente la pelle richiedendo una base molto idratante sotto) e la Stay Matte Rimmel (che mi ha impressionata in maniera molto positiva), ma mi manca davvero la mia amata cipria MAC.

CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Marron Glacé

Sono davvero triste che questa matita sia finita, visto che non riesco a trovarla da nessuna parte e temo che sia una delle cose che Chanel ha deciso di rendere veramente edizione limitata, almeno qui. È la più meravigliosa matita taupe, con una formula morbidissima e che dura tutto il giorno. È (era!) la mia matita più usata per un look quotidiano veloce e per quanto io abbia altre matite di tonalità simili questa rimane la mia preferita. La ricomprerei in ogni momento!

December Favourites

2015 is here!

Wishing you all a very happy and generous 2015, let’s start the year right talking about the beauty things I’ve been loving in the last month of 2014!

Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium

After a long debate with my inner self, I ordered this little gem from Cult Beauty and… I’m deeply in love! It’s just perfect: perfect shade, perfect texture, easy to blend and nearly undetectable. Nearly, because with one swipe the sculpting effect is there, but you can’t see it! Not too orange, not too grey, it’s subtle and visible at the same time. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to get it!

LORAC PRO Palette

Another deeply desired product for a really long time, it finally became mine when my friend Kimmy from Beauty Isles shared a website (BeautyBar) and a discount code that made it reasonable for me to order it. I also got the PRO Palette 2, but it’s the original one that stole my heart: a perfect selection of matte and shimmery shades, with amazing texture and color pay off? This is what we want from the perfect eyeshadow palette!

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

With the winter cold my skin decided to greet me with my biggest nightmare, redness. I have battled with it from a really young age, keeping it under control with careful care and protection from makeup too. It’s not too dramatic, let’s be honest, but the annoying patch on my lower left cheek really disturbs makeup application and anything that helps is welcomed.

So, here comes this serum from REN. Formulated to reduce redness and inflammation and most importantly strengthen capillary walls (that’s what I need!), I’ve been using it consistently morning and night and I’ve been seeing an improvement. It has an amazing consistency too and my skin just loves it, as it’s really calming and makes it super soft. Well done REN!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

You know I love this, I’ve featured it in my October Favourites and I just can’t avoid sharing it again. It’s perfect. For some strange reason I went two weeks without using it between the end of November and the beginning of December, and when I started using it again I wondered why I ever stopped (seriously, I don’t know why I did!). Smells amazing, makes my skin super soft and hydrated and gives it a lovely glow too. I just apply a few drops of this oli in the evening over my REN serum and let it work its magic overnight. Because that’s what it is, magic!

LUSH Copperhead Shampoo

I’ve always looked at LUSH solid shampoos with some suspect: how can something resembling a stone wash my hair well? Then I saw the description of this new one, bought it, and I couldn’t believe how much I loved it. I was in the shower washing my hair and I couldn’t believe a few swipes on wet hair could make such a lovely foam… And my hair was already feeling super soft while I was washing them!

What sold me on this one was the Persian red henna in it, designed to leave hair conditioned and glossy, and the fact that it’s meant to be for darker hair and for those with red tones. Ever since I started dying my hair because of evil greys I struggled to find a warm shade that didn’t pull orange and a more neutral one that didn’t kill my coppery hues, and this helps me fix that last problem. It brings some dimension back to my hair, all while making it super clean and soft… I have a new love for sure!

Here’s what I’ve been loving in the month of December, the last of a year that surely flew by with so many up and downs and changes I couldn’t ever imagine.

Il 2015 è arrivato!

Augurando a tutti voi un felice e generoso 2015, iniziamolo bene parlando dei prodotti beauty che mi sono più piaciuti nell’ultimo mese del 2014!

Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium

Dopo un lungo dibattito tra me e me, ho ordinato questa piccola meraviglia da Cult Beauty e… La adoro! È semplicemente perfetta: la tonalità, la texture, è semplice da sfumare ed è praticamente invisibile. Quasi, perché con una sola passata l’effetto sculpting è favoloso, ma non si vede nessuna linea. Non troppo arancione, non troppo grigia, è delicata e visibile allo stesso tempo. Non posso crederci che ci ho messo così tanto a decidermi!

LORAC PRO Palette

Un altro prodotto a lungo desiderato, è finalmente entrato in mio possesso quando la mia amica Kimmy di Beauty Isles ha parlato di un sito (BeautyBar) e di un codice sconto che ha fatto sì che ordinarla mi sembrasse ragionevole. Ho anche preso la PRO Palette 2, ma è l’originale ad avermi rubato il cuore: una perfetta selezione di tonalità matte e shimmer, con una texture fantastica e una scrivenza ottima? Questo è tutto ciò che desideriamo dalla palette perfetta!

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

Con il freddo invernale la mia pelle ha deciso di salutarmi con il mio più grande incubo, il rossore. L’ho combattuto per molti anni, tenendoli sotto controllo con una cura attenta e con la protezione, anche quella data dal makeup. Non è nulla di eccessivo se devo essere onesta, ma la zona nella parte inferiore della mia guancia sinistra disturba molto l’applicazione del makeup e ogni aiuto è benvenuto.

Quindi, ecco che entra in gioco questo siero REN. Formulato per ridurre i rossori e l’infiammazione, e soprattutto rinforzare le pareti dei capillari (questo è quello di cui ho bisogno!), lo sto usando con costanza mattino e sera e ho visto dei miglioramenti. Ha una consistenza fantastica e la mia pelle lo adora, visto che è davvero calmante e la rende molto soffice. Ben fatto REN!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Sapete che lo adoro, ne ho parlato nei miei prodotti preferiti di ottobre e non posso evitare di parlarvene di nuovo. È perfetto. Per qualche strana ragione non l’ho usato per due settimane tra la fine di novembre e l’inizio di dicembre, e quando ho cominciato ad usarlo di nuovo mi sono chiesta per quale motivo avessi smesso (davvero, perché?). Ha un profumo delizioso e rende la pelle morbidissima e idratata, donando anche una fantastica luminosità. Basta qualche goccia di questo olio alla sera sopra al siero REN e durante la notte fa la sua magia. Perché è davvero così, magico!

LUSH Copperhead Shampoo

Ho sempre guardato gli shampoo solidi LUSH con qualche sospetto: come può qualcosa che assomiglia più che altro ad una pietra lavarmi i capelli come si deve? Poi ho visto la descrizione di questa novità, l’ho preso, e stento a credere a quanto mi piace! Al primo utilizzo ero nella doccia a lavarmi i capelli e non riuscivo a credere come un paio di passate potessero fare una così gradevole schiuma… E i miei capelli erano già super morbidi al tatto mentre li stavo lavanto!

Quello che mi ha fatto decidere di provarlo è stato l’henné rosso persiano che contiene, pensato che lasciare i capelli idratati e luminosi, e il fatto che sia destinato a capelli scuri o con riflessi rossi. Da quando ho iniziato a tingermi i capelli per via dei malvagi capelli bianchi ho fatto fatica a trovare un colore che non tendesse a diventare arancione o uccidesse completamente i miei riflessi ramati, e questo aiuta a risolvere il secondo problema. Ridona un po’ di dimensione ai miei capelli, tutto rendendoli super soffici e puliti… Ho trovato un nuovo amore!

Ecco quello che ho amato di più nel mese di dicembre, l’ultimo di un anno che è di sicuro volato, con i suoi alti e bassi e tanti cambiamenti che non avrei nemmeno immaginato.

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

Ren is a brand I always wanted to explore more, with his clean skincare philosophy but a good scientific vibe.
When the Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial started appearing on the web, even way before its launch, I declared it worth of my first foray into the brand, so here we are!

It's a really unique product, that's meant to be applied on clean skin and massaged with damp fingers to activate the key ingredient, water activated vitamin C. After one minute, you can rinse it off, and be welcomed by even and amazingly radiant skin.

It contains vitamin C, Boswellic Acid and Magnesium, which work together to neutralize urban grey, smooth the skin and reduce the signs of fatigue, photo-ageing and skin imperfections.

The smell is something out of this world: reading the ingredient list the Orange Flower Oil seems to be the main culprit for this amazing scent, but there's something more to it and whatever it is, it's amazing.

This product is meant to be used every three days, and I managed to use it three times since I got it. It worked amazingly every time, and it's really a flash treatment. It takes a couple of minutes, and literally saves the skin. You know those times when there's just no time for a good mask but your skin would benefit from it? This is for that moments, and it works!

I'm so happy with this first REN purchase, and I'm looking forward to a couple of other things that are waiting to be opened soon.

La REN è una marca che ho sempre voluto esplorare, con la sua filosofia di clean skincare ma una grande componente scientifica.

Quando il Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial incominciò ad apparire in giro per il web, un bel poi prima dell’uscita del prodotto, ho deciso che sarebbe stato il prodotto giusto con cui cominciare a conoscere la marca, quindi eccoci qui!

È un prodotto davvero unico, che è destinato ad essere applicato sulla pelle asciutta e poi massaggiato con le dita umide per attivare l’ingrediente principale, la vitamina C attivata dall’acqua. Dopo un minuto, può essere risciacquato per trovare la pelle uniforme e davvero raggiante.

Contiene vitamina C, Acido Boswelico e il magnesio, che lavorano insieme per neutralizzare i grigiore, levigare la pelle e ridurre i segni della fatica, il photo-ageing e le imperfezioni della pelle.

Il profumo è semplicemente meraviglioso: leggendo la lista degli ingredienti l’olio di fiori d’arancio appare immediatamente come il principale responsabile, ma c’è qualcosa di più è qualunque cosa sia, è fantastica.

Questo prodotto è pensato per essere usato ogni tre giorni, e io sono riuscita ad usarlo tre volte da quando l’ho preso. Ha funzionato meravigliosamente ogni volta, ed è davvero un trattamento flash. Richiede solo un paio di minuti, e salva davvero la pelle. Avete presente quei momenti in cui non c’è proprio il tempo di fare una bella maschera ma la pelle ne avrebbe proprio bisogno? È proprio il prodotto da usare in quei momenti, e funziona!

Sono davvero soddisfatta di questo mio primo acquisto REN, e non vedo di provare un paio di altre cose che aspettano solo di essere aperte!
