2015 Favourites ft. Sephora, Formula X and more

The year is coming to an end, and the time for yearly favourites has come. Whilst I was thinking about what I wanted to write as my first beauty post after my long break (read more about it here), the beauty faves of the last few months kept making an appearance in my head. And so I thought: what’s better than the products I’ve loved for months as my 2015 favourites? Let’s start!

Skincare wise, I have a couple of firm favourites that never disappoint me: the Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover and the Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot. The Sephora makeup remover is great at removing heavy makeup or just for being sure that every scrap of mascara has been removed, doesn’t irritate my eyes and so little is needed that it lasts for a really long time. I’ve been using this for years, and even if sometimes I like to try something different I always come back to it! The Vichy spot treatment is something I’ve only started using in the last couple of months, and while I still think my Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel is incredible (review - that stuff is the bomb against angry blemishes!), I’ve been enjoying this as a more gentle spot treatment. It’s specifically designed to treat blemishes without drying out the skin, thanks to the Hyaluronic Acid in it and it’s equally great to treat blemishes as it is to prevent them from coming out as angry monsters once you start feeling them coming under the skin (gross I know, but it’s the ugly truth!).

Speaking of makeup, the stars of the year for me have undoubtedly been mascara and eyeliner. Even on minimal makeup days mascara is something I just love to wear: when I came back from holidays this summer I was so in love with my tanned skin (and I didn’t have a matching foundation, to be honest!), that I took advantage of it and only worn concealer, mascara and brow pencil for a good two to three weeks. But I need an amazing mascara to be able to wear it alone, and my absolute favourite has been the Sephora Outrageous Curl Mascara. The tiny brush is able to give a not clumpy but incredibly voluminous look, gives amazing length to the lashes and as the name suggest is amazingly at holding a curl. A true winner!

2015 has been the year of the eyeliner for me, as I’ve been wearing it more than ever. Most days it’s just been a good sharp line made with an eye pencil (love the Kiko one I shared in my monthly favourites here!), but when I wanted an intense black line my favourite one to use has been the L’Oréal Paris Super Liner So Couture. I bought it more than a year and a half ago when it came out with the So Couture mascara (loooooooved that one too!), and it’s still my fave. It’s incredibly easy to use as the nib is really fine but not too flexible, and it gives a really opaque waterproof black line that’s not glossy but not too mat. It looks good with eyeshadow and on bare lids too, and I always come back to it after trying something else. Love it!

Nail Polish wise, I have no doubt. 2015 has been the year of Formula X. The System is something amazing at keeping nail polish on for ages: I get almost two weeks of wear and remove the nail polish before it chips because I have too much nail showing for my liking, at their nail polish formulas are the best around. Lately they’ve been coming out with portable kits which include either a classic shade alongside the System or a nail care program which targets different nail conditions. I love these To Go kits too and I find them great to save space on luggages or as an intro to the brand.

My favourite perfume has been, without a single thought, YSL Black Opium. The coffee gives an unusual twist to the vanilla in it and since I discovered it more than a year ago (and run out once already too) it’s been all that I’ve worn. Everyday, without fail. I prefer the original Eau de Parfum to the newer Eau de Toilette, and the bottle is incredibly beautiful too. I can’t see me changing perfume anytime soon as after more than a year I’m still in love with this one like the first day.

Here it’s my little selection of products that I’ve truly been loving throughout the year. A lot more springs to mind, but these are the true winners that deserve the title of “yearly favourites”. For the others, there are always Monthly Favourites posts… ;)

Empties #4 ft. Oskia, REN, Chanel and more

I’m pretty shocked and at the same time proud on myself, because here I am with another empties post after a little bit over a month from my last one. Am I closer to making this a more regular feature? Am I getting better at using things till the last drop without moving on something else (which I swear I am, at least skincare wise)? Let’s hope so, and let’s see what I’ve been using up lately as they’re pretty much all good exciting ones!

L’Oréal Paris Micellar Water

I bought this because with a crazy offer it came cheaper than my beloved Bioderma, and I wanted to try it. Well, just a micellar water with nothing special about it: removes makeup pretty well (even if not as well as other micellar waters I’ve tried) and doesn’t irritate my eyes, but I didn’t like the packaging and I found I went through it faster than I would have with a similar size of Bioderma. I wouldn’t repurchase it, but I wouldn’t say it’s bad either.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

After months of regular use as a nighttime cleanser, this wonder product has come to an end. But I have another one I’m going to open as soon as I finish a couple of other things as I love this one too much! A gel that behaves like a balm and contains loads of beautiful ingredients that make it a lot more than a cleanser, it does wonders for my skin as it manages to make it clean, calm, soft and bright. REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

If you suffer from redness, this is the product you need. Super gentle yet effective, my skin has loved this so much (I featured it in my December Favourites) and I used it till the last drop. It reduces inflammation to address temporary redness but at the same times strengthens the capillary walls to reduce permanent redness from fragile capillaries, and the effect are impressive and pretty quick too. It lasted me a little bit less than three months with regular use morning and night and I would undoubtedly repurchase it in the future.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed

I’m so fussy with powders: this is probably the only one I’ve truly loved. I don’t really like loose powders and coloured compact ones all seem to oxidize on me, apart from this one (which mostly behaves like a translucent powder if you pick the right shade). This one is finely milled, keeps oil at bay but isn’t drying in the slightest, and I really think a repurchase is in order. At the moment I’m using the Nars Light Reflecting one (which is lovely but I find it a bit drying and requires a really moisturizing base underneath) and the Rimmel Stay Matte one (which I’m incredibly impressed with), but I really miss my beloved MAC one.

CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Marron Glacé

I’m so sad this has reached the end, as I don’t seem to find it anywhere and I fear this is one of the random things Chanel decided to make a true limited edition, at least here. It’s the most gorgeous taupe eyeliner, with an amazing soft formula that stays put all day. it’s (it was!) my most reached for eyeliner for a quick look in busy mornings and whilst I have similar shades in other formulas this one remains the best. I’d repurchase it any time!

Sono piuttosto scioccata e allo stesso tempo orgogliosa di me stessa, perché sono qui con un altro post sui prodotti finiti dopo poco più di un mese dall’ultimo. Mi sto avvicinando a rendere questi post un’apparizione più regolare? Sto diventando più brava a usare le cose fino all’ultima goccia senza spostarmi su qualcos’altro (cosa che faccio già con i prodotti di cura del viso, lo giuro)? Speriamo, e vediamo che cosa ho finito ultimamente perché sono quasi tutte cose favolose!

Acqua micellare L’Oréal Paris

L’ho acquistata perché grazie a una super offerta costava meno della mia amata Bioderma, e volevo provarla. Beh, si tratta di una semplicissima acqua macellare senza nulla di speciale: rimuove il trucco abbastanza bene (ma non bene quanto altre acque micellari che ho provato) e non irrita gli occhi, ma non mi piace particolarmente il packaging e mi sembra di averla finita molto prima di quando avrei finito una quantità analoga di Bioderma. Non la ricomprerei, ma non voglio neanche dire che sia proprio pessima.

Skia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Dopo mesi di uso regolare come detergente serale, questo prodotto miracoloso è arrivato alla fine. Ne ho però già un altro che mi aspetta appena finisco un paio di altre cose perché mi piace davvero troppo! Un gel che si comporta di più come un balsamo e contiene un sacco di ingredienti meravigliosi che lo rendono molto di più di un semplice detergente, fa miracoli per la mia pelle visto che riesce a renderla pulita, lenita, morbida e luminosa. Potete leggerne di più nei miei preferiti di gennaio!

REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum

Se soffrite di rossori, questo è il prodotto di cui avete bisogno. Super delicato ma efficace, la mia pelle l’ha amato così tanto (ne ho parlato nei miei preferiti di dicembre) e l’ho finito fino all’ultima goccia. Riduce l’infiammazione per intervenire sui rossori temporanei ma allo stesso tempo rinforza le pareti dei capillari per ridurre il rossore permanente dato dalla fragilità capillare, e gli effetti sono notevoli e anche abbastanza veloci. Mi è durato poco meno di tre mesi con uso regolare mattina e sera e lo ricomprerei senza dubbio in futuro.

MAC Blot Powder Pressed

Sono difficilissima in fatto di ciprie: questa è probabilmente l’unica che mi sia veramente piaciuta. Non mi piacciono le polveri libere e le compatte leggermente colorate sembrano ossidare tutte su di me, tranne questa (che si comporta più che altro come una cipria trasparente se si sceglie la tonalità giusta). È una cipria molto fine, che mantiene lontana la lucidità senza seccare per nulla la pelle, e penso che sia davvero giunto il momento di ricomprarla. Al momento sto usando la Light Reflecting Powder di Nars (che è molto bella ma trovo secchi leggermente la pelle richiedendo una base molto idratante sotto) e la Stay Matte Rimmel (che mi ha impressionata in maniera molto positiva), ma mi manca davvero la mia amata cipria MAC.

CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Marron Glacé

Sono davvero triste che questa matita sia finita, visto che non riesco a trovarla da nessuna parte e temo che sia una delle cose che Chanel ha deciso di rendere veramente edizione limitata, almeno qui. È la più meravigliosa matita taupe, con una formula morbidissima e che dura tutto il giorno. È (era!) la mia matita più usata per un look quotidiano veloce e per quanto io abbia altre matite di tonalità simili questa rimane la mia preferita. La ricomprerei in ogni momento!

Disappointing Product(s) #2 | New in from Rimmel

You always read about higher end beauty products here on my blog. There’s more than one reason for that (they’re more satisfying, more beautiful looking, and they’re the one luxury thing I like to invest in), but the ultimate one is because I think they’re better. But since spending a little bit less without loosing on the quality side is almost even better than spending a lot at Sephora, I often try products from more budget friendly brands. Luckily sometimes I find products and brands I like (today I used two amazing eyeshadows from Kiko, for example), but more often I have to say I’m disappointed, and the products I’m going to show you today are just that: some really, really big disappointments.

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara

When I saw this mascara at just a little bit more than 5€ with a promising looking plastic brush and the claims of a “multi-dimensional look: 3D brush gives volume, defines and lengthens lashes. Suitable for sensitive eyes” I had to take it home to try it. Well, the effect might be good even if not so dramatic and a big spidery ad crispy looking, but the true problem is another: this mascara hurts! The bristles are pretty short even in the fatter central part of the brush, and they’re so hard that you can forget putting on the mascara at the root of the lashes without hurting yourself. I wonder how they tested this on sensitive eyes, as it’s not just the formula that matters, the brush does too!

Rimmel Scaldaleyes Jumbo Liquid Liner

I wanted to try one of these liquid liners with jumbo sized applicators for a while, and this one from Rimmel, with its ultra black shade and claims of 24 hours waterproof wear looked promising. The good thing is that the promise of a “dramatic look in just one stroke with jumbo applicator” are true, and the effect is amazing. The bad thing is that this is the less long lasting liner I’ve ever tried. Waterproof? 24 hours? Well, on my it started to smudge and transfer after an hour, even when I tried to wear it with primer and eyeshadow underneath. Such a shame, because I loved the applicator!

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer in #063 East End Snob

I feel really bad for not liking this, since it’s been getting so much love recently! Said to be a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Pencil, I just can’t get on with it. It doesn’t matter if I apply it on bare lips, before or after lipstick, with lip balm underneath or on a primer, this just leaves little crumbles on the lips. Even with the lightest hand and sheerly on the contour of the lips, a flake or two are always there! It’s still wearable, but it’s really annoying nonetheless.

Qui sul mio blog leggete sempre di prodotti di marche di livello piuttosto alto. C’è più di una ragione per tutto ciò (danno più soddisfazione, sono più belli a vedersi e sono un piccolo lusso in cui mi piace investire), ma la ragione più importante è perché penso che siano migliori. Visto però che spendere un po’ di meno senza perdere dal punto di vista della qualità è ancora meglio di spendere un sacco di soldi da Sephora, spesso decido di provare prodotti di marche più budget friendly. Fortunatamente qualche volta trovo prodotti e marche che mi piacciono (oggi ho usato due fantastici ombretti Kiko, ad esempio), ma devo dire che più spesso mi capita di rimanere delusa, e i prodotti che vi mostro oggi sono proprio quello: delle grandi delusioni.

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara

Quando ho visto questo mascara per poco più di 5€ con uno scovolino in plastica così promettente e le promesse di un “look multi-dimensionale: l’applicatore 3D dona volume, definisce e allunga le ciglia. Adatto per occhi sensibili” ho dovuto portarlo a casa con me per provarlo. Bene, l’effetto potrebbe anche andar bene anche se non è tanto drammatico e l’effetto è di ciglia un po’ rigide, ma il vero problema è un altro: questo mascara fa male! Le “setole” sono piuttosto corte anche nella parte centrale dell’applicatore, e sono così dure che ci si può scordare di mettere il mascara fino alla radice delle ciglia senza farsi male. Mi chiedo come hanno testato questo prodotto su occhi sensibili, visto che non conta solo la formula, anche l’applicatore!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Jumbo Liquid Liner

È da molto che desidero provare uno di questi eye liner con applicassero jumbo, e questo di Rimmel, con il suo colore super nero e la promessa di una durata 24h waterproof sembrava una buona opzione. La cosa buona è che la promessa di un “look estremo in una sola applicazione grazie all’applicare Jumbo” è vera, e l’effetto è fantastico. La cosa negativa è che è l’eyeliner meno a lunga durata che io abbia mai provato. Waterproof? 24 ore? Bene, su du me ha iniziato a sbavare e trasferirsi sulla palpebra dopo un’ora, anche quando ho provato a indossarlo con un primer e un ombretto sotto. Davvero un peccato, mi piaceva un sacco l’applicatore!

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner Definer in #063 East End Snob

Il fatto che questo eye liner non mi piaccia mi fa sentire davvero in colpa, visto che se ne parla così tanto come dupe della matita labbra Pillow Talk Charlotte Tilbury. Proprio non riesco ad andarci d’accordo: non importa se la applico sulle labbra nude, prima o dopo un rossetto, con un balsamo labbra sotto o dopo un primer, lascia sempre piccoli frammenti sulle labbra. Anche con la mano più leggera e leggermente solo sul contorno delle labbra, un pezzettino o due rimangono sempre. È pur sempre indossabile, ma è comunque una cosa fastidiosa.

Marc Jacobs Beauty

When the highly anticipated Marc Jacobs makeup line came out, I immediately liked the look of the products and was intrigued by the good reviews. So, when it finally arrived in Italy too a few months later after a couple of weeks of covered stands and “Sephora Loves Marc Jacobs” written everywhere, I immediately run to the store to check the line in person.

Here’s what I bought over the months from the brand!

Style Eye-Con No.7, The Lolita

This neutral palette immediately became the most coveted item from the brand, and its’s really lovely indeed. It contains three really good mat shades, three shimmers and a rather glittery central one. The mat shades and the two last shimmery ones are really great and that’s what I use the most, while the glittery shade and the first shimmery one get a little bit less love. The glittery one is really dangerous fallout wise and the shimmery one is a little bit too pink, but they’re still really pretty.

The quality of the shadows is really great as they’re really pigmented and creamy, and I really love the mat shades included as I always like to use a cream and a medium brown shade when I bother to do an eyeshadow look. I included it in my Natural Makeup Look last week if you like to see it in action!

Genius Gel Super–Charged Oil–Free Foundation

This foundation has got a little bit of mixed reviews, and at first I didn’t like it too. The problem was that it balled up like crazy during application, and I could’t find a way to avoid it. I forgot about it for a while, and then I started using it again: the problem was completely fixed! I then understood what was wrong: a silicon based product underneath caused that unpleasant effect, and a switch in skincare routine was enough to avoid it.

The result now? An amazing skin like finish with a subtle glow and a really good lasting power, so it’s just how I like it! The impressive shade range has something for everyone, and while I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite foundation I really, really like it and I can’t say a single bad thing about it. A single layer applied with fingers gives around medium coverage, and I like to pat a little bit more on the redness of my cheeks covering it up in a really natural way. Overall, a winner!

Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, Th(Ink)

This is my favourite item from the range. A really soft and pigmented eye pencil in an amazing dark slightly shimmery blue, it’s the most amazing twist on a simple black line and I’m absolutely in love. The formula is perfect as it’s really long lasting, works on the waterline too and well, I’d go as far as saying it’s my favourite eye pencil. If you want to buy something from Mark Jacobs, I really recommend one of these Highliners!

Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl - Sheer, Overprotected

A lovely gloss, which is described as a shimmery pastel pink. Honestly I can’t detect any shimmer, but the color is a really lovely pink that makes my lips slightly lighter than their natural colour.

It feels slightly minty for a couple of minutes after application and when it sets it gets slightly tacky as you’d expect from a lipgloss. Feels really comfortable on the lips, but it tends to collect when my lips meet even if I don’t talk to much so I’m not too fond of it. I might add that I’m not the biggest gloss wearer so it might affect my thoughts on this, but other than the lovely colour and packaging this is something I could have left at the store.

Overall I’ve been really pleased with my Marc Jacobs Beauty purchases, and I’ve been eyeing up the The Parisienne palette from the latest collection which contains some really amazing shades.

I’m only slightly disappointed as we always have the same problem here: they never sell the whole range of a brand, like they do in the US. I hope they decide to extend it soon!

Quando la tanto attesa linea di makeup Marc Jacobs uscì, mi piacque immediatamente l’aspetto dei prodotti e fui molto attirata dalle buone recensioni. Così, quando finalmente arrivò in Italia qualche mese dopo in seguito a un paio di settimane di espositori coperti e scritte “Sephora loves Marc Jacobs” ovunque, corsi immediatamente in negozio per dare un’occhiata di persona.

Ecco cosa ho provato finora!

Style Eye-Con No.7, The Lolita

Questa palette neutra è diventata immediatamente il prodotto più desiderato della marca, ed è veramente bella. Contiene tre ottime tonalità mat, tre shimmer e una piuttosto glitter. Le tonalità opache e le ultime due shimmer sono davvero stupende e sono quelle che uso di più, mentre la tonalità glitter e la prima delle shimmer ricevono qualche attenzione in meno. Quella centrale glitter è davvero pericolosa per via del rischio di fallout e quella shimmer è un po’ troppo rosa, ma sono comunque molto carine.

La qualità degli ombretti è davvero ottima, sono quasi cremosi e molto pigmentati, e mi piacciono molto le tonalità mat visto che quando indosso degli ombretti tendo ad usare sempre una tonalità crema e un marrone medio. L’ho usata nel mio Natural Makeup Look se volete vederla in azione!

Genius Gel Super–Charged Oil–Free Foundation

Questo fondotinta ha ricevuto recensioni più o meno buone, e all’inizio non mi piaceva. Il problema era che creava terribili palline durante l’applicazione, e non riuscivo ad evitarlo in nessun modo. Me ne sono dimenticata per un po’, e poi ho cominciato ad usarlo di nuovo: il problema è completamente risolto! Ho poi capito qual era il problema: il tutto era causato da un prodotto troppo siliconico usato sotto, e un cambio di routine di cura della pelle è stato abbastanza per evitarlo.

Il risultato? Un bellissimo finish effetto pelle nuda con una leggera luminosità e un’ottima durata, proprio come piace a me! La grande varietà di colori disponibili permette di trovare la tonalità perfetta, e per quanto non lo definirei il mio fondotinta preferito mi piace davvero molto e non riesco a trovare un difetto! Un singolo strato applicato con le dita dona una coprenza più o meno media, e sono solita applicarne un altro strato leggero sul leggero rossore sulle mie guance coprendolo così in maniera molto naturale.

Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, Th(Ink)

Questo è il mio prodotto preferito della linea. Una matita occhi veramente morbida e pigmentata in un bellissimo blu leggermente shimmer, ed è una bellissima alternativa alla semplice linea nera. La adoro! La formula è perfetta ed è davvero a lunga durata, va benissimo anche nella rima interna e mi spingerei addirittura a dire che è la mia matita preferita. Se volete provare qualcosa Marc Jacobs, vi consiglio vivamente uno di questi Highliners!

Lush For Lacquer Lip Vinyl - Sheer, Overprotected

Un gloss carino, descritto come un rosa pastello shimmer. Onestamente non riesco a vedere nessuno shimmer, ma il colore è un bel rosa che rende le mie labbra leggermente più chiare.

Pizzica leggermente per un paio di minuti dopo l’applicazione e quando si “asciuga” diventa leggermente appiccicoso come ci si aspetta da un gloss. Rimane comunque molto confortevole sulle labbra, anche se ha la tendenza ad accumularsi dove si incontrano il labbro superiore e quello interiore anche se non parlo molto, quindi non sono particolarmente impressionata. Aggiungo però che non sono solita indossare gloss più di tanto, quindi la mia opinione potrebbe esserne influenzata, ma a parte la bella confezione e il bel colore questo prodotto sarebbe potuto rimanere in negozio.

Nel complesso sono davvero contenta dei miei acquisti Marc Jacobs Beauty, e ho puntato la palette The Parisienne dell’ultima collezione che contiene dei colori meravigliosi.

Sono solo leggermente delusa perché qui c’è sempre lo stesso problema: non è mai disponibile l’intera linea di una marca, come invece è negli Stati Uniti. Spero decidano di ampliarla presto!

August Favourites

Yet another month has gone and it’s time for monthly favourites again! As promised, this month is filled mostly with the things that worked so well for me while on holiday and in the busy times that surrounded that quick break from the everyday life.

The first thing that managed to get into my “top 5” of the month is a toner from Yves Rocher. This Perfecting Toning Lotion, which claims to have an anti fatigue effect, is really rather lovely. It has an unusual consistency as it is rather jelly like while still being able of coming out from the bottle, and it smells of green apple to me. It’s part of the 3 Detoxifying Teas line, and the thing that I really love about it is that gives the skin an instant radiance after application.

Let me now introduce you to the best nail polish of them all. First, it’s from L’Oreal Paris. You know I love their Color Riche line (I mentioned it here!), because there are a lot of colors to choose and I can’t really find a flaw about them. The brush is one of those great big ones too! Onto this shade now, 001 Show In Megeve. It’s the perfect white that looks perfect in two coats (the first one is a bit streaky as you would expect from a true white) and lasts ages. Paired with the Formula X The System (I reviewed it here!) is the most long lasting nail polish ever and it was the perfect choice for an holiday manicure (you can see it here, when I was leaving for Barcelona!). And well, I just can’t get enough of white nails this summer.

My next favourite is not only a holiday appropriate product, but an everyday one too. It’s Gimme Brow by Benefit, and it’s the perfect product to keep eyebrows in place, give them a bit of colour and make them appear a bit fuller too. It literally gives them volume a bit like a mascara would, but the awesome trick is to gently color the skin where hairs are a bit sparse. It will fill in your brows a little bit looking incredibly natural! It won’t work by itself if you’ve got a lot of filling in to do, but if you’re like me and have full brows that only need some help in places this is the one-stop brow wonder for you!

Now it’s the time for what’s been the star of my makeup in the last couple of months. I think I’ve worn it at least five times a week since I got it, and there’s a reason why I love it. Once you get the hang of it, it will be the quickest eye makeup look ever! Day and evening appropriate no matter what, it lasts all day and it’s the most gorgeous mat black. I’ve done a review here if you’re still undecided about it since it’s got some mixed reviews when it launched. The Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner is the only thing I took with me on holiday for my eye make up alongside my mascara, and everyday it took me only a few minutes to get ready for the day! It’s true love.

Last but not least, my HG concealer. It’s the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer. It covers everything whilst looking completely natural: the key it’s to apply only a little bit, patting it gently with fingertips. This way it truly sticks to the skin - it’s waterproof! - and it doesn’t move until you decide to take it off. It’s best to layer it than to apply a bit more from the beginning, but once more if you get the hang of it you will be hooked. I haven’t found anything else that covers so well, stays put without looking dry (my daily eye cream is the perfect base for it!) and without creasing. Another good thing is that this little tube will last forever, since only a little bit is needed. Is awesome under the eyes, on spots, to cover redness and so on. It’s awesome mixed in with moisturizer or spf for a long lasting but natural looking base (see it in action here, and here)!

Here they are, the products I’ve been loving this month. A special mention goes to the products I took with me on holiday as a whole (here!), as they worked so well! The star of the show has been the revisited Diorskin Nude BB Creme from Dior.

What have you been loving this month?

Un altro mese è passato ed è di nuovo il momento dei prodotti preferiti del mese! Come promesso, questo mese vi parlo prevalentemente dei prodotti con cui mi sono trovata così bene in vacanza e nei periodi intensi che hanno racchiuso questo breve intervallo dalla vita di tutti i giorni.

La prima cosa che è riuscita ad entrare nella mia “top 5” del mese è un tonico di Yves Rocher. Questa Lozione Tonica Perfezionatrice, che dice di avere un effetto anti fatica, è davvero niente male. Ha una consistenza piuttosto inusuale essendo piuttosto gelatinosa ma nel contempo abbastanza liquida per uscire dalla confezione, e per me profuma di mela verde. È parte della linea ai 3 Tè Detossinanti, e la cosa che mi piace molto è che da alla pelle un’immediata luminosità dopo l’applicazione.

Permettetemi ora di presentarvi lo smalto migliore di tutti. Per prima cosa. è de L’Oreal Paris. Sapete che amo la loro linea Color Riche (ne ho parlato qui!), per la vasta scelta di colori a cui non riesco a trovare un difetto. Il pennellino è anche uno di quelli grandi! Passiamo a questa tonalità ora, 001 Show in Megeve. È il perfetto bianco puro perfetto con due passate (la prima è un po’ irregolare come ci si aspetta da un bianco) e dura tantissimo. Abbinata al The System Formula X (l’ho recensito qui!) è davvero uno smalto a lunghissima durata ed è stato la scelta perfetta per la mia vacanza (potete vederlo qui, quando stavo partendo per Barcellona!). E poi, quest’estate non ne ho mai abbastanza di questo smalto bianco!

Il mio prossimo preferito è un prodotto adatto non solo alle vacanze, ma anche alla vita di tutti i giorni. È Benefit Gimme Brow, ed è il prodotto perfetto per tenere le sopracciglia a posto, dare loro un po’ di colore ed essere sicuri che appaiano anche un po’ più piene. Dona volume un po’ come farebbe un mascara, ma il trucco è di colorare delicatamente la pelle dove i peli sono un po’ meno folti. Riempirà un po’ le sopracciglia dando un aspetto completamente naturale! Non basterà se avete molto da infoltire, ma se come me le vostre sopracciglia sono piuttosto folte e avete bisogno di riempirle solo in qualche punto questo è il prodotto che in un secondo farà tutto per voi!

Ora è il momento di quella che è stata la star del mio look makeup negli ultimi due mesi. Penso di averlo indossato almeno cinque volte alla settimana da quando l’ho preso, e c’è una ragione. Una volta presa la mano, diventerà il trucco occhi più veloce di tutti! Adatto a look da giorno e più da sera, dura tutto il giorno ed è la più meravigliosa tonalità di nero opaco. Ho scritto una recensione qui se siete ancora indecisi per colpa delle recensioni varie che ha ricevuto appena uscito. Il They’re Real Push-Up Liner della Benefit è l’unica cosa che mi sono portata insieme al mascara per il trucco degli occhi in vacanza, e ogni giorno mi è bastato qualche minuto per essere pronta. È davvero fantastico!

Per ultimo ma non per importanza, il mio correttore preferito. È il Full Cover della Make Up For Ever. Copre qualunque cosa pur apparendo completamente naturale: il segreto è applicarne una piccolissima quantità, picchiettando leggermente con le dita. In questo modo aderisce letteralmente alla pelle - è waterproof! - e non si muove finché non decidete di struccarvi. È meglio stratificarlo piuttosto che applicarne di più subito, ma di nuovo una volta presa la mano non potrete più farne a meno. Non ho trovato nient’altro che copra così bene, rimanga al suo posto senza apparire secco (la mia crema contorno occhi quotidiana è una base perfetta) e senza andare nelle pieghe. Un’altro lato positivo è che questo piccolo tubo durerà per mesi e mesi, visto che ne basta così poco. È fantastico sotto gli occhi, per coprire brufoli, rossori e poi ancora. È anche fantastico mischiato a una crema idratante o a una protezione solare per una base molto naturale e a lunghissima durata (eccolo in azione qui e qui)!

Eccoli qui, i prodotti che mi sono piaciuti di più questo mese. Una menzione speciale va ai prodotti che ho portato con me in vacanza (eccoli qui!), visto che sono andati benissimo! La star è stata la ritrovata Diorskin Nude BB Creme di Dior.

Ho già scoperto un sacco di cose nuove che mi piacciono, quindi i preferiti del mese prossimo già appaiono alquanto interessanti!

Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner

This is amazing. It's perfect for doing a perfect line every time, and for making them absolutely even. Then why are there so many mixed reviews about it?

When reviews of this new eyeliner started to appear, way before it launched, I was a bit skeptical. Some of them were good but a bit superficial, some of them were straight bad. When it first came out I went to Sephora, had a look, swatched it and left it there. The reviews about dry flaky formula and impossibility to make an even line had completely put me off.

Then I saw Goo Roo Beauty review on YouTube. She does the most amazing detailed reviews, and really made me understand the problems people were having. The main thing you need to know is that the applicator is designed to hold the product inside, and you’re not meant to use the product that comes out from the tip. You turn the end (a couple of clicks each time are enough) and the smallest amount that comes out from the tip needs to me rubbed off on a tissue. Then you go straight into lining the eyes: I like to start lining the lash line, then do the flick (which is embarrassingly easy to do with the angled applicator) and then connect the two.

It’s really incredibly easy, and I’ve never been an expert in lining my eyes. I’ve always had problems with the line being different from eye to eye (my eye socket is not exactly the same on both eyes) or being too thick (I don’t have a lot of lid space so a line too thick completely covers the lid when I open my eyes). Gel liners with a brush give me a line that’s always too thick, liquid liners I find impossible to use (mostly down to me disliking the formula and the fact that when it goes on the lashes makes mascara impossible to apply) and felt tip liners are the best I could get until now even though they needed too much work to be used daily.

This solves all of my problems: once you remove the little bit that comes out that might have dried out you get a fluid gel that is really smooth to apply, and in a matter of seconds you get a perfect even line. The first couple of times is better to be careful, because the formula sets really fast and if you try yo go over the line once it’s dried then you will get a little bit of flaking. But once you get the hang of it you will be hooked. It’s become my eye makeup of choice for the days I want to be ready really quickly, which is unheard of from me.

The only doubt I have is how long will the product last. I’ve only had it for a little bit less than two weeks so I’ve no idea at all. But you know what? I like it so much that even if the constant use means I will run out quickly I’ll save somewhere else to buy this again and again.

Benefit has done it again: first Big Easy and now the Push-Up liner. They’re jumping on the top of my favourite brands!

È favoloso. È perfetto per disegnare una linea perfetta ogni volta, e per farle assolutamente identiche. E allora perché ci sono così tante recensioni discordanti?

Quando sono cominciate ad apparire recensioni di questo nuovo eyeliner, ben prima che uscisse, ero un po’ scettica. Alcune erano buone ma superficiali, alcune erano direttamente pessime. Quando è uscito sono andata da Sephora, ho dato un’occhiata, l’ho provato sulla mano e l’ho lasciato lì. Le recensioni che parlavano di una formula asciutta con cui era impossibile fare una linea perfetta mi avevano fatto perdere interesse.

Poi ho visto la recensione di Goo Roo Beauty su Youtube. Fa le più belle e dettagliate recensioni, e mi ha fatto davvero capire i problemi che chi lo provava stava incontrando. Il dettaglio principale da sapere è che l’applicatore è disegnato per contenere il prodotto all’interno, e non è fatto per usare il prodotto che esce dalla punta. Si gira l’estremità inferiore (un paio di click ogni volta sono abbastanza) e quella piccola quantità che esce dalla punta deve essere rimossa con un fazzoletto. A quel punto si va direttamente a disegnare la linea sugli occhi: mi piace cominciare a delineare la linea delle ciglia, poi disegnare la codina (che è terribilmente facile con l’applicatore angolato) e poi collegarle.

È incredibilmente facile da usare, e non sono mai stata un’esperta nell’uso dell’eye-liner. Ho sempre avuto un problema di linee diverse tra un’occhio e l’altro (la mia piega palpebrale non è esattamente uguale da entrambe le parti) o di linee troppo spesse (la mia palpebra non è particolarmente spaziosa quindi una linea troppo spessa occupa tutta la palpebra quando apro gli occhi). Gli eyeliner in gel applicati con il pennello rendono sempre la linea troppo spessa, trovo impossibili da usare gli eyeliner liquidi (soprattutto perché non amo la formula e il fatto che quando vanno sulle ciglia rendono impossibile applicare il mascara) e gli eyeliner a pennarello erano il meglio che potessi usare fino a questo momento anche se erano un po’ troppo laboriosi per essere usati tutti i giorni.

Questo eyeliner risolve tutti i miei problemi: una volta rimosso quel poco che esce dalla punta che potrebbe essersi seccato un pochino si ottiene un gel fluido che è scorrevole nell’applicazione, e in una manciata di secondi si può fare una linea perfetta. Le prime volte conviene stare attenti, perché la formula asciuga molto velocemente e se si prova a passare sopra alla linea più di una volta la linea tenderà a sbriciolarsi. Ma appena si avrà acquistato un po’ di familiarità con la stesura non si potrà più farne a meno. È diventato il mio makeup occhi per quando voglio essere pronta in fretta, cosa per me inaudita.

L’unico dubbio che ho riguarda alla durata nel tempo del prodotto. Ce l’ho da poco meno di due settimane e quindi non ne ho assolutamente idea. Ma sapete una cosa? Mi piace così tanto che anche se l’uso costante significherà che lo finirò presto preferirò risparmiare su qualcos’altro per poterlo comprare ancora e ancora.

Benefit l’ha fatto di nuovo: prima Big Easy e adesso questo eyeliner Push-Up. Sta salendo in cima alla classifica delle mie marche preferite!
