Valentine's Pinks with Kiko

I've never been a huge Valentine's day fan, to be honest. It's a nice holiday but I've never been one to look forward to gifts or anything special, as for me it's not more than another reason to remember why we're in love.
I've been feeling the Valentine's atmosphere this year though, might be the red hearts everywhere or the fact that I would actually have a great reason to celebrate this year, and these relatively new launches from Kiko were perfect for a themed look.

The eyes are the stars of this look, with softly smoked out pinks and purples from their latest eyeshadow range, High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow, in #05 Metallic Warm Rose, #12 Pearly Wine and #11 Pearly Marsala. They're sold separately in a really nice looking compact (you can spot one in this Instagram picture here) and you can buy a empty palette with room for three. They're amazingly pigmented and really soft to blend, just make sure to tap off the excess from the brush to avoid fallout.
On the brows I used the Precision Eyebrow Pencil in #02 Dark Chestnut, a great eyebrow pencil that's great for precise work as the name suggest and allows to fill in the brows without looking heavy.

   

On the skin I used the Matte Fusion Pressed Powder in the shade #02 Tan to set my Vichy Dermablend [3D correction] foundation (review!), and then the Shade Fusion Trio Blush in #05 Marsala, a beautiful blend of dusty pinks that gives a slightly sculpted look if you pick up the shades just like they're placed into the compact.

The lipstick I chose for this look is from a past LE, Haute Punk, and it's the shade #01 from what was the Luscious Creamy Lipstick range. It's a beautiful semi-mat nude pink with a great formula, just like pretty much every Kiko lipstick I've tried in the last few years. Every nude pink shade would work!

Kiko Modern Tribes Collection

The Kiko summer collection is here: its name is Modern Tribes, and it’s stunning. The products are along the same lines of its previous ones with a few innovations, but the packaging is simply incredible. Wooden compacts for blushes and bronzers with magnetic closures and a mirror in the top, it’s the most unique packaging I’ve ever seen, and the other products are packaged in a really lovely way too.

I decided to try a blush, an eye pencil and an interesting lip and cheek pencil, so let’s start!

Graphic Ritual Kajal Eyeliner in Percussion Steel

I love Kiko limited edition eye pencils, and this is great as usual. Being a kajal meant to be used in the inside of the eye too it’s a bit softer, but the color payoff and lasting time are amazing. The shades are beautiful, but this gorgeous shimmery black totally stole my heart! You’re going to find you need to sharpen the pencil when switching eye if you’re a fan of a defined line, but other than that, it’s perfect.

Free Spirit Lips & Cheeks Pencil in Typical Dahlia

This creamy cheeks and lips pencil is a beautiful vivid dusky pink that looks velvety and soft wherever you apply it. Looks beautiful on the cheeks and it’s very blendable, but two layers are definitely needed. On the lips, is soft and comfortable and lasts well too. A handy product for the summer holidays without a doubt!

Tri-bal Soul Baked Blush in Wild Mauve

A baked blush with three different shades of mauvey pink, it has a gorgeous blendable formula. It’s not one of those super glittery baked formulas but it’s still really glowy, just in a more subtle way. The shades can be used separately too and while the difference isn’t dramatic, it makes for a subtly sculpted look that looks really natural. And look at the packaging once again: too gorgeous!

Kiko has launched another beautiful collection with beautiful products, and the improvement from previous years is incredible, especially in the packaging.

La collezione estiva Kiko è arrivata: il suo nome è Modern Tribes, ed è bellissima. I prodotti sono simili alle collezioni degli anni precedenti con qualche novità, ma il packaging è semplicemente incredibile. Confezioni in legno per blush e bronzer con chiusura magnetica e specchio nel coperchio, è il packaging più unico che io abbia mai visto, e gli altri prodotti hanno anch’essi un packaging davvero bello.

Ho deciso di provare un blush, una matita occhi e un’interessante matita per labbra e guance, quindi iniziamo!

Graphic Ritual Kajal Eyeliner in Percussion Steel

Mi piacciono sempre le matite occhi Kiko in edizione limitata, e questa è fantastica come al solito. Essendo un kajal è fatta per essere usata anche all’interno dell’occhio ed è quindi più morbida, ma l’effetto è bellissimo e dura a lungo. Le tonalità sono molto belle, ma questo meraviglioso nero brillantinato mi è risultato irresistibile. Vi capiterà di dover temperare la matita tra un occhio e l’altro se amate un effetto definito, ma a parte quello è perfetta.

Free Spirit Lips & Cheeks Pencil in Typical Dahlia

Questa morbida matita per guance e labbra è un bel rosa antico piuttosto vivo che appare vellutato e morbido ovunque venga applicato. È bellissimo sulle guance e si sfuma molto bene, anche se due strati sono necessari. Sulle labbra è confortevole e dura anche a lungo. Un prodotto molto comodo per le vacanze estive senza dubbio!

Tri-bal Soul Baked Blush in Wild Mauve

Un blush cotto con tre diverse tonalità di rosa, ha una fantastica formula molto sfruttabile. Non è uno di quei blush cotti che sono super glitterati, ma è comunque molto luminoso, semplicemente in maniera più delicata. Le tre tonalità possono essere usate anche separatamente e per quanto la differenza non sia molto accentuata, permette di ottenere un look leggermente scolpito molto naturale. E guardate il packaging un’altra volta: stupendo!

Kiko ha lanciato un’altra bellissima collezione con bellissimi prodotti, e il miglioramento dagli anni passati è incredibile, soprattutto nel packaging.

March Favourites ft. Vichy, Kiko and more

This month has been strange, beauty wise. It started with a makeup course at the beginning of the month that didn’t really filled me with enthusiasm, and ended with a beautiful afternoon spent doing makeup on singers for a local tv show. We were expecting a lot less people so it was just me and my friend Lili and therefore it’s been truly exhausting, but it’s been amazing!

But let’s talk about my favourites: a bit of cleansing and makeup removal as it’s such an important step, a bit of lip love and a beautiful liner that has barely left my eyes this month are the stars of this month. Let’s start!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

The first micellar water I like as much as my beloved Bioderma Sensibio: the thing that I miss in other alternatives is the softness of the formula. I know it seems like a crazy thing to consider, but without changing the cotton pads I use the softness is the main difference I notice, apart from their ability of removing makeup. It’s quick at doing its job and doesn’t irritate my skin in the slightest, so it’s perfect, and it’s crazily cheap too!

Vichy Pureté Thermal Beautifying Cleansing Micellar Oil

This is my latest makeup removal/cleansing love. A few pumps of this oil massaged on dry skin remove makeup from face and eyes perfectly - even waterproof products! - and feels lovely and rinses off well when you add water. It doesn’t leave any residue and my normal to dry skin loves it: after I pat it dry it’s soft and radiant and not irritated in the slightest. The only reason my backup of Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel has remained unopened!

Kiko Lip Scrub

This gentle lip scrub in a tube is the most brilliant thing as it’s really convenient to use: I apply it after my moisturizer in the morning and I gently rub my lips every now and then whilst I do my makeup. I remove the slight residue before applying my lipstick of choice and my lips are perfectly ready and soft. It’s really a pleasure to use as it’s really nourishing too: you can always massage it in, remove it and apply a lip balm, but I find it works perfectly fine on its own too.

Lancôme Shine Lover in #354 Inattendue

Lancôme has finally launched a sheer hydrating lipstick formula, and has done it amazingly well. With Muscat Rose Oil to hydrate the lips, they feel moisturized and smooth all day long and the colours are incredibly beautiful. I’ve been wearing this natural shade a lot, but I’ve seen a lot of brighter ones that look amazing. And what do we say about the packaging? I find it so, so beautiful!

Kiko Crystal Eyeliner in #06 Sharp Graphite

Part of the amazing Generation Next Collection of which I reviewed a few items here, it’s a long lasting eye pencil with a metallic finish. The creamy texture glides on the skin without slipping away (I don’t like it when pencils are so soft they’re slippery!) and allows of a really precise line in a single stroke. It’s truly long lasting as I’ve been wearing from early morning ‘till night without problems, and this grey shade is truly beautiful! I definitely plan to stock up on it and have a look at other shades when the collection will be on sale this summer.

Questo mese è stato strano. È iniziato con un corso di trucco che non mi ha proprio riempita di entusiasmo, ed è finito con un bellissimo pomeriggio passato a truccare cantanti per un programma su una tv locale. Ci aspettavamo molte meno persone quindi eravamo solo io e la mia amica Lili, per cui è stato molto stancante, ma davvero fantastico!

Ma parliamo dei miei prodotti preferiti del mese: un paio di prodotti di detergenza viso, qualche coccola per le labbra e una matita occhi fantastica che non ha quasi lasciato i miei occhi sono le star di questo mese. Iniziamo!

Acqua Micellare Garnier

La prima acqua macellare che mi piace quanto la mia amata Sensibio Bioderma: la cosa che mi manca in altre alternative è la morbidezza della formula. So che sembra una cosa strana da considerare, ma senza cambiare i dischetti di cotone che uso la morbidezza è la cosa che noto di più, a parte la loro capacità di rimuovere il makeup. È veloce nel fare il suo lavoro e non irrita la pelle per niente, quindi è perfetta, ed anche super economica!

Olio Micellare Struccante Sublime Pureté Thermale Vichy

Questo è il mio ultimo amore in fatto di rimozione makeup e detersione. Un paio di erogazioni di questo olio massaggiato sulla pelle asciutta rimuove il makeup da viso e occhi perfettamente - anche i prodotti waterproof! - ed è piacevole al tatto e si sciacqua bene quando si aggiunge acqua. Non lascia nessun residuo e la mia pelle normale-secca la adora: dopo aver asciugato la pelle la sento morbida ed appare luminosa e per nulla irritata. La sola ragione per cui la mia scorta di Renaissance Cleansing Gel Oskia è rimasta chiusa!

Lip Scrub Kiko

Questo scrub labbra delicato è davvero geniale ed è davvero comodo da usare: lo applico dopo aver messo la crema al mattino e ogni tanto strofino leggermente le labbra insieme mentre applico il makeup sul resto del viso. Rimuovo il leggero residuo prima di applicare il rossetto scelto e le mie labbra risultano perfettamente idratate e morbide. È davvero piacevole da usare e lo trovo davvero nutriente: è possibile massaggiarlo, rimuoverlo e applicare un balsamo labbra, ma trovo che funzioni benissimo da solo.

Shine Lover Lancôme in #354 Inattendue

Lancôme ha finalmente lanciato una linea di rossetti idratanti e luminosi, e la fatto in maniera eccellente. Con Olio di Rosa Mosqueta per nutrire le labbra, rimangono idratate e levigate tutto il giorno e i colori sono bellissimi. Sto indossando questa tonalità naturale moltissimo, ma ho visto altre tonalità più accese che sembrano favolose. E cosa dire del packaging? Lo trovo bellissimo!

Crystal Eyeliner Kiko in #06 Sharp Graphite

Parte della fantastica collezione Generation Next di cui ho parlato qui, è una matita occhi a lunga durata dal finish metallico. La texture cremosa scorre sulla pelle senza scivolare via (non mi piace quando le matite sono così morbide da risultare scivolose!) e permette l’applicazione di una linea precisa in una sola passata. È davvero a lunga durata e l’ho indossata moltissime volte dal mattino alla sera senza problemi, e questo grigio è veramente bellissimo! Quando la collezione sarà in saldo in estate guarderò sicuramente altre tonalità e farò un po’ di scorta.

The KIKO Foundation Wardrobe

There’s a new generation of foundations at Kiko, and, just like the brand, they’re getting more attention everyday. Let’s see what I think of them! (With a clear winner!)

Over the years I’ve tried a few (Kiko, being an Italian brand, has been around for a while here!), and the verdict has always been bad. The main problem for me has always been the poor shades selection, but the first thing they’ve done with their more recent releases is expanding their offering adding more shades and, even better, dividing them by undertone! Being actually able to wear them I’ve been trying them out, so let’s see how they perform on me.

Liquid Skin Second Skin Foundation

This is their more recent one, that’s meant to give a second skin effect whilst containing active ingredients like Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Resveratrol, making it a skincare hybrid too. The texture is really light and it’s truly weightless, and the packaging is one of those beautiful ones with a glass bottle and a dropper. All of this kind of justify the higher price (€18.90, definitely over the drugstore price range), and well, I like this foundation but I don’t love it. The problem? The coverage. They say it’s got medium buildable coverage, but I got a light coverage even if layering. In their defense, I haven’t tried the brush that came out with it (which looks kind of cool as it’s similar to the Bare Minerals one with a space in the middle to fit the foundation in, but this time the heart’s made of sponge), that maybe considerably ups the coverage level. The finish has got a beautiful satin effect and it’s really, really lovely, but if you have anything less than perfect skin you’ll find that you’re going to need more concealer than usual (even if, like me, you’re used to your redness showing a bit!).

Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation

This is the Kiko foundation everyone is talking about, and until recently it was the one I hadn’t tried. Then I saw the price: €5,90? How is it possible that’s getting so much love? Well, it is. A typical fluid foundation, offers a good solid medium coverage and works beautifully with fingers or with the Kiko Precision Blender Sponge. A few notes about the sponge: is amazing! I like to use it dry to bounce the foundation on the skin and works perfectly to apply a thin even layer like I love. I don’t find it works well with formulas like the Liquid Skin Foundation, but with more typical foundation textures is perfect. Back to the foundation: good coverage, lovely texture and I have to add great shades selection. The only flaw I’ve found is that even though is marketed to be hydrating it isn’t the most hydrating formula I’ve found, but lately my skin has been a bit drier than usual so maybe it’s not its fault. The lasting power is pretty good: it probably doesn’t arrive at late evening hours perfectly, but for the price, is still impressive.

Unlimited Foundation

This, out of all of these, is the one you need. Seriously, I can see why the Universal Fit is so hyped up, but this is simply amazing. Since today we’re talking prices, this at €14.90 is reasonably well priced. Marketed as a long-lasting foundation, it keeps its promises without being heavy and mask like. I’ve recently tried a sample of the newly reformulated Clarins Everlasting+ Foundation, and it was like having a mask on the skin. This Kiko one is a million times better! It must be because of the blend of exotic oils meant to hydrate and nourish the skin, and they work. As I’ve mentioned my skin has been a little bit drier recently and this still works amazingly! It worked well months ago too when it first came out and my skin was a little bit more normal-combination, so I guess a combination-oily skin is going to love it too, with just a bit of powder needed. The coverage is medium to full, and the sheer layer I apply with the Precision Sponge is perfect as it covers my redness without masking the skin. It lasts all day long, and the satin finish is really lovely. A winner!

Kiko is getting better everyday (you can read my thoughts on their amazing Generation Next collection in this post!), and I keep discovering more treasures from the brand! Have you tried anything from them? Are you loving them as much as I am?

È arrivata una nuova generazione di fondotinta da Kiko, e, proprio come la marca in generale, stanno ottenendo più attenzione ogni giorno che passa. Li ho provati, ed ecco che cosa ne penso! (…c’è un chiaro vincitore!)

Nel corso degli anni ho provato svariati fondotinta Kiko (essendo una marca italiana qua è presente da un bel po’!), e il verdetto è sempre stato negativo. Il problema principale per me è sempre stata la poca scelta di tonalità, e la prima cosa che hanno fatto con le uscite più recenti è stato espandere la loro offerta aggiungendo più colori, e, ancora meglio, dividendoli per sottotono! Essendo finalmente in grado di indossarli li ho provati, quindi vediamo come si sono comportati su di me.

Liquid Skin Second Skin Foundation

Questo è l’ultimo fondotinta uscito, ed è pensato per donare un effetto seconda pelle contenendo contemporaneamente ingredienti attivi come la Vitamina C, l’’Acido Ialuronico e il Resveratrolo, rendendolo un ibrido tra makeup e skincare. La texture è molto leggera ed è davvero senza peso, e il packaging è uno di quei bei flaconi in vetro con il contagocce. Tutto questo giustifica abbastanza il prezzo più alto (€18.90, decisamente al di sopra dei prezzi abituali), e devo dire che questo fondotinta mi piace ma non mi fa impazzire. Il problema? La coprenza. Dicono che possieda una copertura media modulabile, ma sono riuscita a ottenere una copertura leggera anche stratificandolo. In loro difesa, non ho provato il pennello che è uscito insieme al fondotinta (che sembra carino visto che è simile a quello Bare Minerals con al centro il posto per mettere il fondotinta, anche se questa volta il cuore delle setole è fatto di spugna), che forse è in grado di aumentare notevolmente il livello di coprenza. Il finish ha un bellissimo effetto satinato ed è davvero piacevole, ma se avete la pelle anche solo poco meno che perfetta vi troverete ad usare molto più correttore del solito (anche se, come me, siete abituati a lasciare che si intraveda qualche imperfezione!).

Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation

Questo è il fondotinta Kiko di cui tutti stanno parlando, e fino a pochissimo tempo fa non l’avevo provato. Poi ho visto il prezzo: €5.90? Come è possibile che sia così fantastico? Ebbene, lo è. Un tipico fondotinta fluido, offre una buona coprenza media e si applica benissimo con la dita o con la Kiko Precision Blender Sponge. Qualche parola sulla spugnetta: è fantastica! Mi piace usarla asciutta per picchettare il fondotinta sulla pelle e va benissimo per applicare uno strato leggero come piace a me. Trovo che non vada bene per formule come il Liquid Skin Foundation per cui vanno meglio le dita, ma per texture più tipiche è perfetta. Torniamo al fondotinta: buona coprenza, bella texture e devo aggiungere ottima scelta di tonalità. L’unico difetto che posso trovarci è che anche se indicato come fondotinta idratante non è la formula più idratante che io abbia provato, ma ultimamente la mia pelle è più secca del solito quindi è possibile che non sia colpa sua. La durata è decisamente buona: forse non arriva alle tarde ore serali perfetto, ma per il prezzo è comunque notevole.

Unlimited Foundation

Questo, tra tutti quelli di cui vi ho parlato, è quello che dovete avere. Seriamente, posso capire perché l’Universal Fit sia diventato così famoso ultimamente, ma questo è semplicemente stupendo. Visto che oggi vi sto parlando anche di prezzi, questo a €14.90 ha un prezzo molto ragionevole. Descritto come un fondotinta a lunga durata, mantiene le sue promesse senza essere pesante o a effetto maschera. Ho provato un camioncino dell’appena riformulato Clarins Everlastng+, ed è stato come avere una maschera sulla pelle. Questo è mille volte meglio! Deve essere grazie al mix di oli esotici pensati per idratare e nutrire la pelle, e funzionano. Come vi ho detto la mia pelle è stata leggermente più secca ultimamente e questo fondotinta va benissimo! Andava benissimo anche qualche mese fa, appena uscito, quando la mia pelle era più normale-mista, quindi credo che anche una pelle mista-grassa possa appezzarlo, magari con un po’ di cipria. La coprenza è medio-alta, e lo strato leggero che applico con la Precision Sponge è perfetto visto che copre i miei rossori senza fare effetto maschera. Dura davvero tutto il giorno, e il finish satinato è davvero bello. Fantastico!

KIKO Generation Next

When I started to see a few pictures of the new Generation Next collection from Kiko, I could’t believe it. Mosaic powders, a CC cushion, cool eyeshadows and incredible packaging? Almost too beautiful to be true! But the other day, walking past a Kiko store, I saw the collection on display, began swatching it and a few items went home with me. Here’s what I think of them!

CC Cream Cushion System

Described as a lightweight colour perfecting foundation, at first look is pretty much identical to the Lancôme Miracle Cushion I reviewed recently. It contains SPF 25, and a thing I find pretty cool is that they say on the site that the porous sponge that contains the product breaks the texture down into small particles that adhere to the skin. I love that they explain how CC cushions are supposed to work! And they must be right, as whilst at first this foundation seems thicker than the Lancôme one, it melts amazingly on the skin giving a good solid medium coverage. It’s a bit less natural looking than the Miracle Cushion (which is unbelievably skin like!), but it has considerably more coverage and still looks really natural! I have the shade Warm Beige 30, which is the tiniest bit darker for me now (but still wearable), but will help me transition into spring nicely. A true winner!

Mosaic Highlighter

This multi-colour illuminating powder is simply too beautiful. It’s meant to give the skin a naturally radiant skin effect, and it does. It kinda reminds me of MAC Lightscapade, both for the colours in the compact and the effect on the skin, as it can be applied more subtly on in a more intense way. It’s not glittery at all and the really fine shimmer gives a gorgeous glow that is not too silver or not too golden. If you’re after a new highlighter you won’t go wrong with this one.

Mosaic Blush - Luminous Baby Pink

The blushes have the same cool mosaic design of the highlighter, and they’re all made of four different shades. The one I got, Luminous Baby Pink, is a lovely pink that it’s truly radiant without being too shimmery. The texture though is a bit hard, but the good thing is that is not powdery at all (I hate when you can’t pick up any product with the brush and when you’ve insisted enough it starts crumbling!) and it’s nicely blendable, so with a couple of layers you get a really nice effect. Probably not a must have, but still a nice blush!

Cool Touch Eyeshadow - Modern Burgundy

These water based eyeshadow have an airy and silly texture that kinda reminds me of the MAC Electric Cool Eyeshadows. They come with a internal lid to preserve the product, but be careful when trying to remove the protective plastic thing that covers the actual eyeshadow, as the eyeshadow isn’t glued to the bottom of the container! The selection of shades is pretty cool with taupes as well as green and blues, and they all swatch nicely. They are a bit like cream eyeshadows in powder formula, there’s no fallout and the color payoff is really nice. I don’t feel the urge to collect them all, but they’re really lovely!

Frosted Look Lipstick - Stylish Peony

When I saw the name of this lipsticks I didn’t even want to swatch them because I hate anything too shimmery or frosty on the lips, but given the good reviews I read I decide to give them a try. I’m happy to report that there’s no frost in sight! The packaging is really cool, with the pencil look but lipstick style product shape, and they’re really opaque. They have a satin finish and the shade I have, Stylish Peony, is a really beautiful dark luminous pink. Just remember to avoid these if your lips aren’t in amazing conditions as they’re not forgiving on dry lips at all. Now the funny fact: guys, Rossetto isn’t the name of the shade like I’ve read in some reviews, it only means lipstick! ;)

This is a really nice collection, with beautiful packaging and lovely products. I haven’t tried every single thing, but if I had to recommend you something, I’d say to go for the CC Cushion, the highlighter and one of the lipsticks! Personally, I’m going to wait for the sale to see what’s left and maybe pick up a couple of eyeliners as I always like them.

Quando ho iniziato a vedere le prime immagini della nuova collezione Kiko Generation Next, quasi non ci credevo. Ciprie mosaico, un CC cushion, ombretti interessantissimi e un packaging incredibile? Quasi troppo bello per essere vero! Quindi quando l’altro giorno ho visto la collezione esposta passando davanti a un negozio Kiko, sono subito entrata per dare un’occhiata da vicino e qualche prodotto è venuto a casa con me. Ecco che cosa ne penso!

CC Cream Cushion System

Descritto come un fondotinta leggero perfezionatore di colore, lì per lì sembra quasi identico al Lancôme Miracle Cushion che ho recensito da poco. Contiene SPF 25, e una cosa che trovo interessantissima è che sul sito spiegano come l’elevata porosità della spugnetta veicoli la texture in piccole particelle che aderiscono alla pelle. Mi piace che spieghino il meccanismo dietro a questi CC cushion! E mi sa che hanno proprio ragione, perché per quando all’inizio questo fondotinta sembri più corposo di quello Lancôme, si fonde benissimo con la pelle donando un’ottima coprenza media. È leggermente meno “naturale” del Miracle Cushion (che è incredibilmente a effetto nudo!), ma ha una buona dose di coprenza in più rimanendo naturale! Ho la tonalità Warm Beige 30, che è leggermente scura per me al momento (ma comunque portabile), ma che mi aiuterà nella transizione verso un più sano colorito primaverile. Mi piace un sacco!

Mosaic Highlighter

Questa polvere illuminante multicolore è davvero meravigliosa. È pensata per dare alla pelle un effetto naturalmente luminoso, e fa quel che promette. Mi ricorda MAC Lightscapade, sia per i colori sia per l’effetto sulla pelle, visto che può essere applicato in maniera molto discreta o più intensa. Non è per niente troppo glitterato e gli shimmer delicati danno una luminosità stupenda che non è troppo argentata o troppo dorata. Se siete in cerca di un nuovo illuminante con questo non potete sbagliare!

Mosaic Blush - Luminous Baby Pink

I blush hanno lo stesso effetto mosaico dell’illuminante, e sono tutti composti da quattro diverse tonalità. Quello che ho scelto, Luminous Baby Pink, è un bellissimo rosa che è davvero luminoso senza essere troppo shimmer. La texture è però un pochino dura, ma la cosa buona è che non è per niente polveroso (detesto quando non si riesce a prendere prodotto con il pennello e quando si riesce inizia a sbriciolarsi!) ed è molto sfruttabile, quindi con un paio di passate si ottiene un bellissimo effetto. Probabilmente non è prodotto must-have, ma comunque un bel blush!

Cool Touch Eyeshadow - Modern Burgundy

Questi ombretti a base d’acqua hanno una texture leggera e setosa che mi ricorda un po’ gli ombretti Electric Cool MAC. Si presentano con un coperchio interno per preservare il prodotto, ma fate attenzione quando cercate di rimuovere la plastica protettiva, la cialdina non è per niente incollata al fondo del contenitore! La selezione di tonalità è molto varia, dai taupe ai verdi e agli azzurri, e si swatchano tutti molto bene. Solo un po’ come ombretti in crema in formula polvere, non cadono residui e l’impatto è buono alla prima passata. Non sento la necessità di collezionarli tutti, ma sono molto carini!

Frosted Look Lipstick - Stylish Peony

Quando ho visto il nome di questi rossetti non volevo neanche provarli perché odio tutto ciò che è frost o troppo shimmer sulle labbra, ma viste le buone recensioni che ho letto ho deciso di provarne uno. Sono felice di dirvi che non c’è effetto frost in vista! Il packaging è davvero bello, con l’aspetto di un matitone ma il prodotto a forma di rossetto, e sono davvero opachi. Hanno un finish satinato e la tonalità che ho scelto, Stylish Peony, è un bellissimo rosa scuro molto luminoso. Ricordatevi solo di evitarli se le vostre labbra non sono in condizioni perfette, visto che non perdonano neanche la più piccola secchezza!

Trovo che questa collezione sia davvero bella, con un packaging stupendo e prodotti carinissimi. Non ho provato proprio tutto, ma se vi dovessi consigliare qualcosa, vi direi di non lasciarvi scappare il CC Cushion, l’illuminante e un rossetto! Personalmente, aspetterò i saldi per vedere cosa rimane e magari prenderò un paio di matite, visto che mi piacciono sempre.

My favourite micellar water, end of the story. I always come back to it after trying new ones, because while others may remove makeup well whilst still being gentle this one just does everything better!

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser

Part of the Alpha-H kit I bought in my first Cult Beauty order, it’s such an amazing cleanser! A mild non foaming cleanser, it’s great for morning use (you can find my morning routine that includes this cleanser here) as it cleanse the skin without being drying, and it makes the skin super soft! I’d totally repurchase this in the future, maybe in another amazing Alpha-H kit!

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes

This is my oldest empties of this post, as I run out pretty soon after my last empties post. It’s a nice lightweight eye contour cream, slightly tinted and luminous, that works well under makeup. At the moment I’m using my Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, but I wouldn’t mind use this one again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

I already raved about it in this post, but seriously, this stuff is amazing as everyone says. I haven’t really liked a single eyebrow pencil before this one, and the few days I had to use something else while I was waiting for my second one to arrive I was lost. I ordered my third one the other day to avoid being without it again!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

I love this mascara, I truly do. It beats everything I used in the past and everything I’ve tried after. Everything, from volume, to definition, to length, to blackness is perfect and I’m simply saving a repurchase for the day I walk into Sephora without the urge of trying something new. A true, true love.

Here they are, and they were all good ones! I can’t really force myself to finish something I don’t like, and in that case things simply get given away to someone else who might like them. That way I don’t have things I don’t use around and don’t feel guilty about it ;)

La mia acqua micellare preferita, fine della storia. È quella a cui ritorno sempre dopo averne provate di nuove, perché nonostante altre possano rimuovere bene il trucco ed essere delicate questa lo fa semplicemente meglio!

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser

Parte del kit che ho acquistato nel mio primo ordine da Cult Beauty, è davvero fantastico! Un detergente delicato e non schiumogeno, è perfetto per la detersione mattutina (potete trovare la mia routine che include questo prodotto qui) visto che deterge la pelle senza seccarla, e la rende morbidissima! Lo ricomprerei volentieri in futuro, magari in un altro kit Alpha-H!

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes

Questo è il prodotto che ho finito da più tempo, poco dopo il mio ultimo post sui prodotti finiti. È un contorno occhi leggero, leggermente colorato e luminoso, e va benissimo sotto i trucco. Al momento sto usando il mio Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Concentrate con Avocado, ma non mi dispiacerebbe usare questo di nuovo in futuro.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Ne ho già cantato le lodi in questo post, ma seriamente, è fantastica come tutti dicono. Non mi è mai veramente piaciuta nessuna matita per le sopracciglia prima di questa, e nei pochi giorni in cui ho dovuto usare qualcos’altro nell’attesa che arrivasse di nuovo mi sono sentita persa. L’ho ordinata per la terza volta l’altro giorno per evitare di rimanere di nuovo senza!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara

Amo questo mascara, lo amo davvero. Batte tutti quelli che ho provato prima e tutto quello che ho provato dopo. Tutto, dal volume, alla definizione, alla lunghezza, al super nero è perfetto e sto semplicemente aspettando il momento in cui entrerò da Sephora senza il desiderio di provare qualcosa di nuovo per ricomprarlo. Un vero amore!

Eccoli qua, e tutti prodotti fantastici! Non riesco proprio a costringermi a finire qualcosa che non mi piace, e in quel caso le cose finiscono semplicemente per essere date a qualcun altro a cui potrebbero piacere. In questo modo non ho in giro cose che non uso e non mi sento in colpa ;)

What I Packed - Barcelona

In a matter of a few hours I’ll be on a plane, flying to Barcelona! I love visiting new cities (it’s my favourite kind of holiday) and I’m really excited to discover the beautiful places this city has to offer!

We always travel for only a few days, so we only take a carry-on bag with us. I usually save a few samples and mini sizes to take with me, this way I can try new things (or use things I know I’ve loved in the past), and make room for holiday purchases. The thing that my boyfriend leaves with a few disposable contact lenses makes room for a couple of cheeky buys too!

Skincare wise, I’m taking:

Make Up Forever Sens’Eyes makeup remover, a really gentle product to remove my waterproof mascara;

Vichy Pureté Thermale 3 in 1 Micellar Solution, to remove the bulk of my face makeup before cleansing;

Vichy Normaderm Purifying Gel, a gel cleanser that I usually find a bit to drying but I hope will work in hot weather;

Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Eye Crème, as my eye cream for this few days;

Vichy Idéalia Life Serum, to use under my day cream as I’ve never tried it;

Vichy Aqualia Thèrmal Light Cream, a light moisturizer that should be hydrating enough;

Benefit Dream Screen SPF45 PA+++ as my sunscreen of choice as I’m going to be in the sun all day and this is wonderfully light;

Sundance SPF30 as a body sunscreen;

Amuchina gel hand sanitizer;

Mentadent Maximum Protection toothpaste.

Makeup:

Dior Diorskin Nude BB crème 002 as my base of choice, I used it while in Berlin exactly a year ago and loved it;

Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer lasts all day and can be mixed with skincare to make a lightweight long lasting base if needed (see my Poolside Makeup here!);

MAC Blot Powder Pressed as I simply can’t live without it (hear me going on about it here and here);

Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Liner for a simple and quick daily eye makeup that will look appropriate in every occasion (read my review here);

L’Oreal Paris False Lash Flutter Waterproof Mascara because it’s simply amazing (see it in action here) and it’s on its last legs so more space in my bag for the flight home;

Benefit Gimme Brow as it gives perfect long lasting brows in a matter of seconds;

Nars Laguna for a bit of bronzed glow (and an attempt to match my face to my “tanned” body a little bit more);

Nel giro di qualche ora sarò su un aereo, in volo verso Barcellona! Amo visitare nuove città (è la mia vacanza preferita) e sono davvero entusiasta di poter scoprire i posti meravigliosi che questa città ha da offrire!

Viaggiamo sempre per qualche giorno soltanto, portando con noi solo il bagaglio a mano. Di solito conservo qualche campioncino per l’occasione, in modo da poter provare nuove cose (o usare cose che so di aver apprezzato in passato), e fare posto per qualche acquisto vacanziero. Il fatto che il mio fidanzato parta con qualche coppia di lenti a contatto giornaliere aiuta a fare spazio per un paio di acquisti in più!

Nars Laguna per un po’ di colorito in più al mio viso (e per tentare di farlo assomigliare un po’ di più al mio corpo “abbronzato”);

MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush perché è il compagno perfetto di ogni bronzer;

Dior Addict Lip Glow perché è idratante e può essere portato in giro e applicato in ogni momento (era nei miei ultimi preferiti del mese qui!);

KENZO JEU d’Amour perché mi è piaciuto da subito.

Poolside Makeup Look

When I was a guest at my friend's house last weekend we were having a bit of makeup fun and we came up with the idea of a quick photo tutorial.
I had only the essentials with me but with the help of the wonderful Zaira from PuntiLuceBlog the perfect poolside makeup look came to life! Here I will talk about the product I used a little bit, head over to her blog for more photos!

I started by mixing La Roche Posay Anthelios Aquagel SPF 30 with Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer (I use shade n.6): sunscreen is a must and the concealer mixed in gives a natural looking base that's waterproof too. This sunscreen is really light on the skin, I love it!

Then I patted a bit more of the concealer under my eyes to cover that area a bit more (this covers everything, looks natural and stays put) and used my MAC Pro Longwear Bronzer in Nude On Board (I talked about it here) to give my skin a lovely glow concentrating the majority of the products on my cheekbones.

On the eyes I patted a bit of the Sephora Velvet Waterproof Eyeshadow in Beige Rose all over the lid to brighten and add to overall glow of the look, followed by my favourite waterproof mascara, the L'Oreal False Lash Flutter Waterproof. It volumizes, lengthens and defines the lashes without making them hard or leaving residues under the eyes. It is really waterproof too!

The gorgeous Chanel gloss and Dior Aloha nail polish perfected the look with their wonderful orangey coral summer hues.

Lo scorso weekend sono stata ospite a casa di un’amica, e mentre ci divertivamo a fare qualche esperimento con il makeup ci è venuta l’idea di fare un veloce foto-tutorial.

Avevo solo i prodotti essenziali con me ma con l’aiuto della meravigliosa Zaira di PuntiLuceBlog abbiamo creato il perfetto makeup da piscina! Io parlerò dei prodotti utilizzati, mentre sul suo blog troverete qualche foto in più!

Ho cominciato mescolando Aquagel SPF 30 della linea Anthelios di La Roche Posay con il Full Cover Concealer Make Up Forever (uso la tonalià n.6): la protezione solare è un must e il correttore unito ad essa crea una base naturale che è anche waterproof. Questo solare è davvero leggero sulla pelle, mi piace!

Ho quindi tamponato un po’ di correttore sotto gli occhi per un po’ di correzione in più (questo correttore copre tutto con un effetto naturale e dura a lungo) per poi usare la mia terra Pro Longwear di MAC in Nude On Board (ne ho parlato qui) per dare maggiore luminosità e colore al trucco concentrando la maggior parte del prodotto sugli zigomi.

Sugli occhi ho tamponato un po’ dell’Ombretto Velluto Waterproof di Sephora nel colore Beige Rosé su tutta la palpebra per aggiungere ancora più luminosità al look, seguito dal mio mascara waterproof preferito sulle ciglia, il Ciglia Finte Farfalla Waterproof L’Oreal Paris. Volumizza le ciglia, le allunga e le definisce senza renderle rigide o lasciare residui sotto gli occhi. Ed è davvero waterproof!

Il favoloso gloss Chanel e lo smalto Aloha di Dior completano il look con la loro meravigliosa tonalità corallo aranciata.

Eccolo qua, un look semplice con prodotti waterproof e a lunga tenuta perfetto per un giorno in piscina!

My Skincare Routine: The Morning

I love skincare. I’ve been into it from a pretty young age and I’m really thankful for that. I’ve come to know my skin pretty well, recognize its needs and address any issues. My skin is what I like to define as normal: random dry patches in the winter, a little bit of oiliness in the summer, but nothing more. Do we want to call it combination? Ok, I have slightly combination skin. But most of us do ;)

My skincare routine is something that stays pretty much the same over the year: I change the products when I need to, but the main structure doesn’t change.

I was going to do a single post on my whole skincare routine, but the moment I finished writing it I realized it was too long. So I’m going to split it in three posts that are going to go up this week, starting today with my morning skincare routine.

In the morning I admit I really can’t be bothered to go to the sink and do a proper cleanse. Micellar water is my best friend, and I think its fine because my evening cleanse is always a very deep cleanse. My favorite has to be the well-known Sensibio Micellar Water from Bioderma, but I’ve tried many others and they’re almost all fine. This one in the end is the cheaper alternative for me (I stock up on it when I can buy a 500 ml bottle for €13,90 and the 100 ml ones for €2), and I find it the most gentle and effective.

I always follow up with some kind of toner, may it be an hydrating one, a slightly exfoliating one or a facial spritz like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This is what I’m using at the moment (I already mentioned it in my July Favourites here), and I particularly love it in the summer because it’s really refreshing and it gives the skin a lovely glow. And well, I adore the smell.

Then there’s the serum step. I use it to address specific needs of my skin at the time. I might use an hydrating serum in the winter (love the La Roche Posay Hydraphase one!), a brightening one during the change of season or a clarifying one all year round if my skin needs it. At the moment I’m using the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel as a serum, because after I started using locally I’ve decided to try a really thin layer all over my face and I’ve been really loving how its effects add to the smoothness of my skin. 

After serum I apply my eye cream, which is the Skin Trainer Eyes from Kiko. Is a lovely slightly tinted lightweight fluid, that keeps the eye area hydrated and ready for makeup application.

My moisturizer at the moment is the Hydraphase Intense Legere from La Roche Posay. It is a really lightweight moisturizer that really packs an intense moisture. I was hesitant to keep using it the summer, but it doesn’t weight skin down in the slightest keeping it well hydrated.

Mi piace un sacco la cura del viso. Ho incominciato a interessarmene abbastanza presto e ne sono davvero contenta. Ho imparato a conoscere la mia pelle abbastanza bene, a riconoscere i suoi bisogni e intervenire in caso di problemi. La mia pelle mi piace definirla normale: qualche zona più secca durante l’inverno, leggermente più oleosa in estate, ma nulla di più. Vogliamo definirla mista? Ok, ho la pelle leggermente mista. Come la maggior parte di noi del resto ;)

La mia routine di cura della pelle è qualcosa che rimane piuttosto costante durante l’anno: cambio i prodotti quando serve, ma lo schema fondamentale non cambia.

La mia intenzione era quella di scrivere un unico post sulla mia routine completa, ma nel momento in cui ho finito di scriverlo mi sono resa conto che era davvero troppo lungo. Per questo motivo lo dividerò in tre parti che pubblicherò tutte questa settimana, cominciando oggi con la mia routine mattutina.

Ammetto che appena alzata non ho la minima intenzione di trascinarmi fino al lavandino per lavarmi il viso. L’acqua micellare è la mia migliore amica, e penso che vada bene perché la mia detersione serale è sempre molto profonda. La mia preferita è la famosa acqua micellare Sensibio Bioderma, ma ne ho provate molte altre e vanno più o meno tutte bene. Questa alla fine è l’alternativa per me più economica (faccio scorta quando trovo la bottiglia da 500 ml a €13,90 e quelle da 100 ml a €2), e trovo che sia la più delicata ed efficace.

In seguito uso sempre un tonico, che sia idratante, esfoliante o uno spray come il Beauty Elixir Caudalie. Quest’ultimo è ciò che sto usando al momento (ne ho già parlato nel mio post sui preferiti di luglio qui), lo amo particolarmente in estate perché è davvero rinfrescante e rende la pelle luminosa. E poi, adoro il suo profumo!

È quindi il turno del siero. Lo uso per andare incontro alle diverse necessità della mia pelle a seconda del periodo: un siero idratante in inverno (mi piace quello della linea Hydraphase di La Roche Posay!), uno illuminante durante il cambio di stagione o uno purificante durante tutto l’anno se la mia pelle ne ha bisogno. Al momento sto usando l’Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing gel di Clinique come siero, perché dopo averlo usato localmente ho deciso di provarne uno strato leggerissimo su tutto il viso e mi piace molto come aggiunga morbidezza alla mia pelle.

Dopo il siero metto il contorno occhi, lo Skin Trainer Eyes di Kiko. È un fantastico fluido leggermente colorato, che mantiene questa delicata area idratata e pronta per l’applicazione del trucco.

La mia crema idratante al momento è Hydraphase Intense Legere di La Roche Posay. È un idratante molto leggero ma davvero molto “potente”. Avevo paura a continuare ad usarlo d’estate per questo motivo, ma non appesantisce per nulla la pelle, mantenendola ben idratata.
