Empties #3

It’s finally time to share another round of empties! I say it with so much enthusiasm because every time I see monthly empties posts from other blogs I’m so surprised… How can you finish so much in a single month? Well, here’s what I managed to finish since my last empties post!

Bioderma Anastasia Brow Wiz Alpha-H Lancome Kiko

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution
My favourite micellar water, end of the story. I always come back to it after trying new ones, because while others may remove makeup well whilst still being gentle this one just does everything better!

Alpha-H Balancing Cleanser
Part of the Alpha-H kit I bought in my first Cult Beauty order, it’s such an amazing cleanser! A mild non foaming cleanser, it’s great for morning use (you can find my morning routine that includes this cleanser here) as it cleanse the skin without being drying, and it makes the skin super soft! I’d totally repurchase this in the future, maybe in another amazing Alpha-H kit!

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes
This is my oldest empties of this post, as I run out pretty soon after my last empties post. It’s a nice lightweight eye contour cream, slightly tinted and luminous, that works well under makeup. At the moment I’m using my Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, but I wouldn’t mind use this one again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
I already raved about it in this post, but seriously, this stuff is amazing as everyone says. I haven’t really liked a single eyebrow pencil before this one, and the few days I had to use something else while I was waiting for my second one to arrive I was lost. I ordered my third one the other day to avoid being without it again!

Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara
I love this mascara, I truly do. It beats everything I used in the past and everything I’ve tried after. Everything, from volume, to definition, to length, to blackness is perfect and I’m simply saving a repurchase for the day I walk into Sephora without the urge of trying something new. A true, true love.

Here they are, and they were all good ones! I can’t really force myself to finish something I don’t like, and in that case things simply get given away to someone else who might like them. That way I don’t have things I don’t use around and don’t feel guilty about it ;)

What have you finished recently? And what have you repurchased or plan to?

Acqua Micellare Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Eccoli qua, e tutti prodotti fantastici!

My Skincare Routine: The Extras

There are a couple of other things, apart from my daily skincare routine, that I like to do to keep my skin in top conditions.

A couple of times a week I use a manual exfoliator under the shower, and when I’m done I like to use a facial masque, letting it work while I’m doing other things like taking off nail polish and filing my nails.

My absolute favourite facial exfoliator has to be the Exfoliating Purifying Gel from the Sebium line from Bioderma, as it’s really effective and super gentle. You’ve heard me talking about it here!

The masque I’m really loving at the moment is from the Hammam line from Yves Rocher. It’s a clay mask with Argan Oil in the formula, so it dries like a typical clay mask nourishing the skin at the same time making it much more gentle and a true all rounder. I really see a difference when I add the masque step to my routine: when I happen to be on a rush and skip it I definitely find a difference in the overall condition of my skin.

The una-tantum alternative to my cleansing routine

When I come home late at night and can’t be bothered to cleanse, I do a speed version of my usual cleanse. After removing the bulk of my makeup with micellar water as usual (see the whole process here), I drag myself to the sink and use a deep cleanser to make up for the missing steps. The one I’m using at the moment is this Purifying Gel Cleanser from the Pure System line from Yves Rocher, which I find fits perfectly for the purpose and is also slightly exfoliating. Then, if really I’m dying to get to sleep I just slap some moisturizer all over, eye area included (better than nothing), but otherwise the following steps are the same as usual (here they are!).

What about you? Which extra steps you do to treat your skin a bit more?

My Skincare Routine: The Evening

It’s time for the second part of my skincare routine, the evening one. In the evening I like to really be sure that my makeup is removed properly and the skin is ready to adsorb well what I’m applying next.

Evening Skincare Routine

I start by taking off the bulk of my makeup with a micellar water. I might use a biphase makeup remover before (I love the Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover from Sephora) if I’m wearing something waterproof on either the eyes or the lips, but otherwise the micellar water (my favourite is again the Sensibio from Bioderma) is more than enough as it really removes everything - with a little more product waterproof mascara and liner too!

After that the deep cleanse starts. I use either a balm or a cream cleanser, and I massage it on my skin throughly. At the moment I’m using the Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream, but apart from the smell and the lovely consistency I’m not blown away by it. After adding some water I massage it in a little bit more, and then rinse off with lukewarm water.

Next comes the Clarisonic. I take a gentle slightly foaming gel cleanser (the one from the Hydra Vegetal line from Yves Rocher is mu current one, I really like it!) and massage it on damp skin, wet the Clarisonic brush (I have a Clarisonic Aria) and use it as directed for one minute at the lowest intensity. The results are amazing. My skin is smooth, clean and not red in the slightest: I’ve always suffered from a bit of redness in the lower part of my cheeks, but since I’ve started using the Clarisonic it has subsided significantly which is an effect I wouldn’t have imagined. When I don’t use it for a couple of days I really start wondering what’s wrong with my skin!

The next steps (toner, serum, eye cream and moisturizer) are the same as in the morning (see my routine here), with the exception of my eye cream. I like to use a heavier one that wouldn’t sit as well under makeup, and the one I’m currently using is from the Micro line from Rilastil. I really like it, keeps the eye area hydrated but I don’t wake up with puffy eyes as it happens when an eye cream is too rich. And I hope is doing a little bit in the wrinkles prevention department too!

After all that, that takes roughly 5 minutes, I’m ready to go to bed knowing that I’ve taken care of my skin. This has been working really well for me, as a whole, and especially for the Clarisonic, which is an investment I really recommend.
Tell me, are you as crazy as me when you cleanse at night? Don’t forget to come back saturday for “the extras” in my skincare routine! :)

My Skincare Routine: The Morning

I love skincare. I’ve been into it from a pretty young age and I’m really thankful for that. I’ve come to know my skin pretty well, recognize its needs and address any issues. My skin is what I like to define as normal: random dry patches in the winter, a little bit of oiliness in the summer, but nothing more. Do we want to call it combination? Ok, I have slightly combination skin. But most of us do ;)
My skincare routine is something that stays pretty much the same over the year: I change the products when I need to, but the main structure doesn’t change.

Morning Skincare Routine

I was going to do a single post on my whole skincare routine, but the moment I finished writing it I realized it was too long. So I’m going to split it in three posts that are going to go up this week, starting today with my morning skincare routine.

In the morning I admit I really can’t be bothered to go to the sink and do a proper cleanse. Micellar water is my best friend, and I think its fine because my evening cleanse is always a very deep cleanse. My favorite has to be the well-known Sensibio Micellar Water from Bioderma, but I’ve tried many others and they’re almost all fine. This one in the end is the cheaper alternative for me (I stock up on it when I can buy a 500 ml bottle for €13,90 and the 100 ml ones for €2), and I find it the most gentle and effective.

I always follow up with some kind of toner, may it be an hydrating one, a slightly exfoliating one or a facial spritz like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This is what I’m using at the moment (I already mentioned it in my July Favourites here), and I particularly love it in the summer because it’s really refreshing and it gives the skin a lovely glow. And well, I adore the smell.

Then there’s the serum step. I use it to address specific needs of my skin at the time. I might use an hydrating serum in the winter (love the La Roche Posay Hydraphase one!), a brightening one during the change of season or a clarifying one all year round if my skin needs it. At the moment I’m using the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel as a serum, because after I started using locally I’ve decided to try a really thin layer all over my face and I’ve been really loving how its effects add to the smoothness of my skin.

After serum I apply my eye cream, which is the Skin Trainer Eyes from Kiko. Is a lovely slightly tinted lightweight fluid, that keeps the eye area hydrated and ready for makeup application.

My moisturizer at the moment is the Hydraphase Intense Legere from La Roche Posay. It is a really lightweight moisturizer that really packs an intense moisture. I was hesitant to keep using it the summer, but it doesn’t weight skin down in the slightest keeping it well hydrated.

Here it is, how my skincare routine looks like in the morning. What about yours?
Stay tuned because my evening one is coming on Thursday!

Repurchased #1

I love trying new beauty products, and I’m always on the hunt for the new thing in store. So if I buy something again it must be true, true love. Lately I’ve been repurchasing a few of my favorite things after trying an alternative, so I’m sure they’re true favourites!

Nars eye primer Mac Blot Powder Bioderma Sebium

Fist comes the Bioderma Sebium Exfoliating Purifying Gel, that was featured in my Empties #1 post here. On that occasion I mentioned I was going to finally try something else after buying it again and again for the last few years. Well, I’m back to it already. I was finding many flaws in what I’d bought and I came back to my safe friend. It’s the most gentle exfoliator I’ve ever found that actually does something: with regular use my skin is smooth and brighter and it never, never irritates it. If you’re after a manual exfoliator I wholeheartedly recommend this one!

Then it’s the turn of my beloved MAC Blot Powder. I already talked about it here in my MAC Haul, and it’s the only powder I’ve ever repurchased, let alone many times. The favorite thing for me is that it’s undetectable on the skin all day long. It’s so finely milled that it’s really hard to make it look powdery, and it sets makeup completely. With this powder I get a shine free look all day long even in the summer heat, of course with the right foundation underneath, and at the same time its not a powder that makes me look flat but saves a little bit of glow in the right places. A bit of MAC love after my disappointment with their last foundation!

Finally comes my Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, that was also in my Empties Post. In the meantime I’ve tried the new Dior Backstage Eye Prime, a flesh coloured primer that comes in a pot. Aside from the need to get used to the completely different consistency, that made my eyeshadows crease. I tried to apply the lightest layer or a thicker one, on my bare lid or with powder on, and my eyeshadow creased after a few hours. On the other hand, with my Nars one I can be confident wearing eyeshadow for as long as I want (even more then 20 hours if I ever need it) and my eye makeup will still be like freshly applied when I take it off. It’s love!

Which product have you repurchased again and again? Have you ever returned to an old favorite after trying something else? Tell me in the comments!

Quale prodotto avete ricomprato ancora e ancora?

Empties #1

I don't finish a lot of beauty products frequently, but this time I've finished a bunch of interesting things all at once so I may as well share them with you!

Clinique Take The Day Off, Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Bioderma Sebium Exfoliator, L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture, Clarisonic

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
The perfect eyeshadow base: it goes on clear and dries immediately, keeping eyeshadows in place all day. Two things may not be for everyone, though. It doesn't conceal the lid at all, and it's better to apply a cream eyeshadow over the top to help blend eyeshadows more easily. But I really love it because you need a very small amount, it pretty much blends itself and eyeshadows just.don't.crease. Totally HG!

L'Oreal Paris Million Lashes So Couture
A plastic wand which defines, elongates and volumizes. One coat is perfect for everyday, but it can be built up easily without clumps or flakes. Full review here.

Bioderma Sebium Exfoliating Purifying Gel
I've bought this scrub so many times I can't remember. I love how gentle yet effective it is: I use it on my face twice a week under the shower and it leaves my skin smooth without an irritation in sight. Now I have something different I wanted to try but I cannot say I won't be repurchasing this again.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
The best makeup remover. It's perfect used on its own for a quick one step cleanse at night or, like I do most days, after a quick swipe of Bioderma Sensibio micellar water and before my Clarisonic. I bought it when it started to crop up on the blogosfere but I remember admiring the genius name on the shelves many years ago. I'm cracking open the Clarins Extra-Comfort Cleansing Cream tonight, but I have the feeling a Clinique repurchase is in order.

Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser
A slightly foaming cleanser that came in a deluxe sample size with my Clarisonic. Nothing special at all, apart from the fact that it lasted months with daily use.

Clinique Take The Day Off, Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Bioderma Sebium Exfoliator, L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture, Clarisonic

Inarrivabile!

L'Oreal Paris Volume Milioni di Ciglia So Couture

Bioderma Sebium Gel Esfoliante Purificante

Clinique Take The Day Off Balsamo Struccante Viso e Occhi

Clarisonic Gel Detergente Rinfrescante
